What is RUSSIAN Food Like in Thailand? First Time Eating SLAVIC Food (AMAZING Borsch, Crazy KVAS)

Жыл бұрынPhuket, Thailand is home to quite a unique community of people from both Russia and Ukraine, and today I am blown away by FLAVOR - today I am having food from this part of the world for the very first time!
One of our closest friends here in Thailand is a Russian citizen, and so first of all I want to say a huge thank you to Rimma for sending us the wonderful menu for today. The Borsh beet soup is my favorite for sure, and Li is now in love with the crazy weird flavor of Kvas :) Finally, as we are both so happy to share this meal together with you, thank YOU for joining us for today's video!!
The time in Phuket has been amazing, and there are still a few more days to go. I hope you have loved the videos where we explore Phuket's most epic SEAFOOD, as well as one of Southern Thailand's most unique dishes (CURRY NOODLES).

Actually there are many people from Russia who have made it home in southern Thailand for decades, it’s quite a unique place for this reason. I don’t really know how it happened to begin with, the young lady who opened this restaurant is not even old enough to remember the original reasons I guess, but no it is nothing about the current situation over there.

Wooo hooo my favourite spanish tapas eh?? Well when I travel to spain first thing on my mind is tapas and russian salad is my favourite, firstly I thought it just had the name ensalada rusa but no its actually from russia . Also called olivier salad named after the french inventor that had an upmarket french restaurant in russia late 1800's. He used ingredients such as pheasant caviar venison and pheasant. The soviet people had to exchange the expensive ingredients for cheaper ones like ham potatoes and carrots. In spain it sometimes has tuna eggs pickles potatoes peas and carrots but it varies greatly. Sooo good with other tapas items though. Wierdly not seen it in any other european countries. The end haha 🤣🥰❤️🏴

W0W! Really surprizing! Surprising that you never had Borsht before! I'm confused; did you go here BEFOR you went to Georgia? I guess you must have, and are now just posting this? And your friends are in Russia now? And the owner looks Thai but she's from Tashkent? It's all very interesting. (Also, confusing to me; you said the dumplings have "Cumin" but that's the bright yellow/orange of Turmeric root, Thais call Turmeric "Cumin" while "Cumin" in English is the seed that spices Indian curries [!?]) There's a Russian/Mongolian place in Chiang Mai now, not as large a menu I think but I'm even more psyched now to try it after seeing this!

I had thought that there would be a lot more sour cream, but I think she limited the number of dishes with that. All the same being part German and part Finish, everything looked amazing. Especially borsch and the dill on the side. We make an amazing ranch dressing with fresh dill.

Russian restaurants typically have Russian,Ukrainisn,Yzbek and Georgia food and vice versa. You are in Uzbek restaurant now but eating Russian/Ukrainian food ( they eat same food) and Uzbek food (Manti) thanks to 70yrs of USSR all cultures and cuisines got mixed ,so are people😂

It is important to remember though that while for some people, maximum strength also comes with weight loss, for people who are naturally larger it might be the other way so, everyone has to find the best way for themselves and keep track… Stay focused… And enjoy the journey :-)

People have mental struggles with weight (me included) and we have to be sensitive how we approach such a conversation (I remember when I was a size four and this Bloke asked me if I was sick, I got older and went to a size eight and I was asked if I was alright) .
