What is strength training?

As I recall today, for a very long time I didn’t know there were different forms of exercises, for me everything was the same. I am sure there would be many who too are clueless about this, so this one is for them.

There are 3 main categories of exercises
.
Cardio - Any activity that increases your heart rate is cardio, for instance, jumping, running, dancing, aerobics etc.
.
Strength Training - Exercises that are carefully designed to make the musculoskeletal system stronger, example: weight training, resistance band training, calisthenics, pilates, strengthening part of yoga.
.
Flexibility - Flexibility is to increase the range of motion of the joints. Pilates, Yoga, any other static or dynamic stretching come under this bracket.
