I really like how "Ocean of Fear" plays out. Normally, in these kinds of episodes, the person would get over their fear by the end. But while Finn faces it to save Jake, he still has a fear of the ocean. I think that's a far more realistic outcome.

And this fear comes back in a future episode and he still doesn’t overcome it. But in a few episodes latter he made it….i think?

Two things: Pat Mchale is actually the guy behind Over The Garden Wall which is why his prose works so well for fear and foreboding presence haha. It’s fun to see how many animated shows got their start with Adventure Time. and 2. MARK HAMILL!!

I love how weird looking all of Finn's expressions look in "Ocean of Fear", the face he did when that drop touched him will never not be hilarious.

Looking it up, the witch is voiced by Maria Bamford (also the voice of Wildberry, Hot Dog, and Slime Princess) and her name is apparently Floradulcina.

As of right now, Ice King is just your stereotypical evil wizard who captures princesses to marry them but trust me when I say the further you get into the show, the more sorry you'll feel for him.

Ocean of Fear is actually very important… there’s a big lore reason why Finn is terrified of the ocean.

@@Vozird i really do love how the writers managed to make the smallest things in the show that seemed like filler episodes relevant. i guess thats kinda the beauty of a show that wasnt really intended to be plot heavy from the beginning, they can just make up whatever they want and implement the earlier episodes into it to make it some kind of big reveal seemingly planned from the start

So a lot of Adventure Time's story and lore is centered on background and implications. Considering that it becomes pretty clear how important s1ep16 is. Not only did we explore Finn's fear, but we also saw some heavy implications abt human kind. And considering that we saw a lot of tanks and other weaponry around... And those 2 sceletons sitting on a couch tell us that those people didn't die at normal circumstances. Very interesting.

So the origin of Jake's powers is quite interesting and does get explained later. Plus Finn still has a fear of the ocean despite having faced it to save Jake, and that's quite the realistic outcome. And like the origin's of Jake's powers, we get an explanation as to why Finn is scared of the Ocean later in the show.

NEPTR reminds me of the movie Chappie from 2015, the robotic concept feels very similar.
