WHAT IS THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY? #SHORTS
Since the fifth century, the Church has held implicitly the belief in the Assumption of the Blessed Mother, body and soul, into Heaven. The dogma was promulgated by Pius XII on November 1, 1950. The most glorious of all Her feast days is the Assumption, which is kept each year on the 15th of August.
The Assumption means that the body of Mary was not allowed to become corrupt, nor was it allowed to remain in this world long after Her death, but that Her body was joined again to Her soul after Her death and She was taken body and soul up to Heaven. As Mary grew in years, She was also growing in grace, and Her Assumption is the crowning of Her life and Her sufferings.
