This video explores the standard driver assist functions on the new 2021 Audi A3. In particular the two aspects demonstrated are the lane departure warning and proximity warning.

@@HandyAndyHomer some of the issues are still present, random warning lights and my passenger door handle is still pants (make sure to check each door closes easily when you pick yours up - a few others have reported the same thing) As for the compensation, yeah we agreed something I was happy with - hopefully won't be too long before I can share that with everyone

Basically in a nutshell it was your videos that helped me pick the my A3 saloon as the lack of info was not out there. Even showed me how to use these extras as well big up your channel keep up the good work

@@CRD90 last i heard car is at port in emden germany. I did actually , at first order an edition 1. However previously ive owned 2 mazda3 sport navs ( decent cars but terrible paint /quality issues)...really missed the HUD when i purchased my current A3. (69 plate black edition saloon) Also really liked the full leather on the Vosprung....just seemed the right choice...gave me all the spec i missed from the Mazda all in one package (saloon, 35TFSI pterol stronic, Daytona Grey). Decent deal too!

Great stuff! Lovely colour too you'll be one of the first as I'm guessing your edition1 date was swapped over to the vorsprung. There's a big backlog on deliveries now so you'll be one of the first 👍🏽

@@CRD90 just basic spec. They had no sport backs in Glasgow so was showed the saloon she said was same spec. So ain’t even test drove it. Still driving my trusted Mazda 3 1.6 petrol Takara sport 2008 at the moment. Only 39,000 miles on it. Wanna buy it lol ? £3k. Wrap it and punt for £6k lol

@@coops111s really? I've had the cruise control and limiter stop once but that was fixed by restarting it. I'm not that confident the newer cars will have fixed the issues, seems they are so common now

thanks for the video. indeed, there aren't many videos that points those facts and flaws. I personally don't like that Active Lane Assist tend to keep the car to the right side of the markings and not in the middle.. no matter what settings i've tried (early / late correction)

Hope you've subscribed for more content and to support our growth :) I've always tried to keep my videos balanced and give my honest thoughts on the car so I'm glad you're enjoying it :) I do find the feature dangerous when it does not work as intented and I'd actually prefer it if I could go back to normal and completely turn it off. The only problem which I'm sure you've faced is it switches back on the next time you turn the car on. 🤦 (I understand this is something to do with EU safety standards)

@@CRD90 that has be fixable with v day / obd11. You have an option to remember last setting (eg: if you had it turned off, next time it's off). My car didn't had ALA active and i've activated it manually via obd11 (the car has all needed hardware, including the windshield camera)!

@@paralelmind did you try it on the previous gen A3? I've read it is hard to break into the coding with 2020+ models as VAG have built their own protocol to prevent tools like odb11 working

@@paralelmind i think it might be because Audi have gone for this "feature on demand" style of unlocking features on the newer cars, so they are probably locking out third party tools as it would cost them revenue if we had a backdoor to enable the traffic recognition for example (the new A3 have this fitted, just disabled by default unless you pay for the upgrade)

@@CRD90 July 2022 so far. All Golf 8s have had electric folding wing mirrors pulled I cancelled it as the dealer did not inform me hence gone to Audi now

@@CRD90 I went for the Edition 1 - I get mine through a salary sacrifice scheme, I couldn't add extras too it :( but I genuinely look forward to getting it!! I was considering adding roof rails, what do you think?

@@xVeRSeii great decision on the ed1 - I personally prefer the clean look as opposed to something on the roof. I guess it depends if you will be using them often enough?

Great video man! How often are you planning on servicing it? Wondering whats the most cost effective way to service the car over a 3 year span, assuming 12,000 miles per year.

Thanks for the support bro! Hope you've subscribed for upcoming content and to help us grow :) We've got a 6 month review on the car which you will not want to miss! I'll be servicing the car in line with the car warnings. I think the first one is in 18,000 miles the oil change. I've heard you can buy service plans direct which work out cheaper however I believe as long as it's a Audi approved garage you are covered under the PCP deals and agreements. This can save you up to 50% rather than servicing with Audi directly 👍🏽

Mines a 72 plate A3 first time the lane assist kicked in i thought something was wrong got used to it now but when i press the button on the indicator stalk it doesn't turn off

Worst part about car reviews, is that they are always fully speced more or less, while all the cars on the used market here are plain basic no extras :D So I have no idea what the A3 comes with as standard, and almost let down that a lot of features car reviewers show is no where near the standard car. Wish they reviewed a plain basic car no extras, and a fully featured car.

My car has the full driver assistance pack and I set up the a distance of 3 secs from the car in front of me. However, sometimes I get the visual warning on the virtual cockpit even when the car in front appears to be fairly distant ... perhaps my eyes are deceiving me and I’m indeed less than 3 sec away in case of emergency braking?

I would like to comment on the failed attempts of Audi on my ex- Audi A3 TFSI Sport 8 breakdowns 4 call outs with faults on pre-sense components resulting my car was in the garage more times than I had driving this car no help from Audi and just got shot off it, so be ware this heap of scrap when looking for a new car hope this helps you before you look at an Audi car.

The app is also standard but the level of functionality differs dependent on the phone and region used. I'll be filming this in a few weeks when I get access to a new car so I'll walk you guys through the setup process 👍🏽

Oh another question for you. I have a private plate ready to go on my new Audi. The sales woman said Audi are the only make that don’t allow you to drive off with them on it. She says you must drive off forecourt with original plate on it then apply to change it over. Any advice on this ?

if it's a UK car that would make sense as you would need the logbook of the car before you can apply your private plate. both times this has taken roughly 1 week to arrive after my car has been delivered / registered. the only way around it is to ask them to register the car and delay your delivery until you have the logbook. That way you can apply the numberplate as soon as you get the logbook through the post

From memory it was on the left of the indicator stalk. It's pretty obvious though have to just keep it pressed in to deactivate. But it will keep turning back on every time you restart the car. The only way to get permanently rid is to have it coded out.

Hey good video. I've got a fault on my MMI. Can't log in as user with email and password. Audi tried to help with online chat but no good. Getting referred to tech/ dealer. Frustrating.

Hey buddy it's been a while, hope you're well! The mmi is buggy as hell. Did you by any chance have these issues after an SOS warning? There is a 24/7 mmi phone number: 0800 279 2884 Some owners have had luck with that team they can walk you through it although I'm guessing it's probably the same people. Always easier to talk to a human though

@@CRD90 thanks for the number will give that a try , the guy online had me hold down the circular volume button to do a soft reset . Didn't work. I agree the MMI is very buggy. Also can't stop the thing giving me warnings every time I turn ignition on or off. The interior sensor warning annoys me lol.

@@life_on_cars yours is a diesel right? I know there was a lot of issues with mhev cars. So shocked to see it's much wider spread. To be honest once you Google it you can see it's not just an a3 problem and is pretty much across their whole range including Lamborghini's! - worrys me they have no fix for it

The driver Assist Pack on the A3 Edition 1 does not come with Lane departure assist and no rear cross traffic assist. Not sure why Audi have taken these features out of the Edition 1? Cost cutting. !!

Hmm from memory (it's been a while since I've looked into it as I no longer own it). All cars should have the lane departure warning by default as it's an EU regulation. The lane departure assist where the car can steer itself to an extent should be part of the driver assist pack which was circa £1700ish. Also the rear cross traffic alert was originally part of the blind assist optional upgrade. I think now Audi won't let you spec any of these due to "microchip shortages" or whatever excuse is now flavour of the month for them 😌

@@CRD90 they have also stopped making the vorsprung version now. I just took delivery of my edition 1 this week with comfort and sound pack and driver assist pack and they no longer offer Lane assist or rear cross Traffic assist. It’s not looking good for Audi !!

I’ve ordered the front and rear cameras. Reading there’s problems with playback if over 32gb sd card is used which is crap. I’d want to use a 128gb card but couldn’t be doing with the bother. Can you look into that and review it for us ? Thanks bro.

Hey bud, did you go for the genuine Audi dashcam? I ended up buying a third party one as it was a lot cheaper and more discreet. 32gb will hold roughly 2.5 hours worth of 1080p footage. Unfortunately I don't have access to a car with it but personally did not want to spend almost £700 for a dashcam that was still visible from inside the car. It would have been great is Audi used the cameras already hidden within the car rear view mirror that would have been perfect for me 👍🏽

Fair enough it is supposed to have a good standby footage length, but at 32gb it's not going to record much over 2.5houra which is frustrating if something happens overnight

Hey buddy, personally for me no. I'm not a fan of the looks of the car when compared to the a3. I feel the nose is too stretched out and the interior a bit too flashy for my liking. I should hopefully be test-driving one after lockdown just to show viewers the difference. As a car it may be fantastic, but I excluded it out of our choice based on the personal taste. What are your thoughts on it?

@@CaptainKostaZ which A3 are you able to get edition1 or sline? The vorsprung might be worth a look for a full spec one. The rest to be honest is down to personal choice. I prefer Audis over mercedes generally but they are fantastic cars in fact my auntie just bought an a class!

When you see the price of a car (for example £40,000). The unknown fact is that the car is free, but the indicators cost £40,000.... use them !
