I've only tried the red, black, and green label, but I've tried many other whiskeys. The green label is definitely a nice whiskey. I would recommend that for a first try of Johnnie Walker.

I miss when Green was cheap… haha I’ve been tempted to try the double black especially since Green is hard to find around here

the Green costs 37 euros (37 dollars aprox) here in Spain (Europe) and is the best example of whisky for the masses but enjoyable for the whisky nerdies.

Great rant gentlemen! Tried James Eadie Trade Mark X recently and found it to be a very interesting blend, for me it has a nice Campbeltown influence too. Price wise it sits between the black and green JW.

I came to identical conclusions for top 3. Picked up miniatures gift set from black to blue and I had the green on hand. 18 was tops and Green and Double Black tied for 2nd for me. That said, it's hard to justify the prices for all of them and can only see myself picking them up on sale. The biggest take away doing that lineup was that each bottle only had a half-step qualitative difference between adjacent bottles in the lineup. I was SO DISAPPOINTED in the Blue. If someone wants to try to the Blue, I'll tell them that the 18 is very close and buy that for half the price instead. If I ever see the 18 at Costco for $80, I'll pause and strongly consider picking up a bottle; though if I'm being honest, at least part of the reason for doing so is because the JW mystique and general public awareness. As for the requested comments, If I'm going to spend $150, $250 on a whisky, it's not going to Johnnie Walker anything ever. Give me an IB, an old age statement bottling.

Johnnie Walker Blue is the best whisky ever. Springbank is pure swill. McDonalds make the best hamburgers also and Pizza Hut pizza is the most authentic Italian pizza ever

At CAD$80, the Green was a buy for sure. At CAD$110, I suppose it's okay for an all malt 15 year old scotch.

For me the Double Black is both a decent drink and priced well enough to be worth it, and would definitely be my choice from the flight. If the XR21 was there then it’d be a different story. I’m always worried about if/when my own personal favorite distilleries get Springbanked and I think your counter argument to Ralfy’s is a very valid concern: Benromach could potentially make malt as good as Springbank but then what use is that if it’s as difficult and as expensive to find? In my country (Taiwan) there’s a limited amount of Springbank, the designated importer puts secondary prices on it, you occasionally get private store sales but, except for one amazing place, they’re marked up exorbitantly. For me it just doesn’t make sense in terms of both the tine and money it would cost so I just buy other stuff. Taiwan is a whisky loving country so, unlike a lot of Asia, there is still a really huge amount of choice and a lot of great stuff out there just waiting to be purchased and in that sense I’m very fortunate - I would say that Taiwan is the best country in Asia for whisky and, though I’ve never seen any whisky tuber visit, would imagine such a trip would be an incredible experience for anyone who enjoys single malt (if you love Bourbon it might not be so much fun).

I have to say, the green is the only one worth buying for me. Great value for a 43% 15 year blended. Around me it's $50-60 USD and I feel like I'd pay $75 if I had to.

If the bottles were opened years ago, it will be very hard to blind guessing, especially the double black

70’s Johnnie Walker black was very good and had whisky from Port Ellen and probably Brora in it. It’s why people hunt it. It’s got depth and probably has 20 year old stuff in it or older.

Did a JW blind and Black, Double Black and Blue beat Green, Gold and 18 for me. To be fair I’ve never been a big fan of the Green even tho so many JW fanboys will tell you that’s the best of the core range. Who knows to each their own, cheers fellas thanks for this 🥃 Sidenote, also had the Red at a bar with very limited scotch options and was actually impressed, much better then the Clan McGregor bottle they also had 😆

Jane Walker 12 year is pretty good at almost 42% ABV

I would recommend doing a Distillery line like McAllen Glenfiddich or Glenlivet

My two favorites are the Green Label and the 18 year old….tho if at a restaurant i will order the Black if that’s the best they have…

The only Johnnie Walker worth buying are the Green and the L.E. Jane Walker 10 year all malt that I may like more than the Green. Less peaty but more sherried and dirt cheap and higher ABV like the Green. On close out for $27 was a no brainer and bought a few just to have some decent cheapy stuff that is better than it’s price point and has a bit of complexity to it.

Tasting different notes is like looking at individual objects in a still life painting. You can look at ‘Still Life with Cheese’ by Floris van Dijck and see apples, cheese, grapes, walnuts, bread, hazelnuts, pear, tea and olives. - you could also say "what the f are you taking about, looks like a damn painting to me." it's a difference of how willing you are to try to taste (or see) what you can - where the only real risk is that you're somehow "wrong" in a very subjective pursuit.

Go woke and go broke, unless you're chill filtering and coloring and shipping to Asia. Against my principles, I bought a Diageo bottle this week. Lag11, Offerman @ MSRP. I was gifted A few Diageo bottles, including JW 18Gold and Double Black, Little Bay and some GOTs. I can't imagine any reason to open them. And I have no friends to re-gift.
