I lived in Cambridge for the first 10 years of my life……….Harvard Square to be exact. Loved it……..a great to grow up in. I am retired now to a warmer climate, but miss these wonderful early days!!!!!

Same. Grew up between Harvard Square and Central Square. Went to Cambridge Rindge and Latin.

We had a rent controlled 1/1 apt on Mt Auburn St at Mass Ave near the Orson Welles Cinema for $210 including heat, in 1973. When they raised rent to $225, we moved out!

actually if you are a college student you will have to do multiple part time jobs

Looking at this video two years after is just crazy how the average rent exploded O_O Additionally, the broker fee are outrageous, I can set up an online post for rent in 10 minutes... The landlord should pay it.

@@sulkel Because of the cost of living/expenses associated with living in Cambridge. Roommates are your best bet if you are making $35/hr

If you want to be near cambridge look into nearby towns like medford, Arlington, or the Allston/Brighton area for more affordable apartments. If you prefer Cambridge the Port/wellington Harrington are the cheapest neighborhoods. As a rule of thumb be as far from the redline as possible for the most affordable apartments. You can find rentals near bus lines that will take you directly to school without breaking the bank living next to a T stop
