I do believe this machine opens the door for a new Cricut audience though. New crafters that may be intimidated by the larger machines, people in small living areas that don't have a lot of storage room for a bigger machine, kids/teenagers, craft clubs, people that do craft shows and for people would love a more portable machine.

It’s for a person with a small space like me.

I just got my Cricut Joy last week and I feel this is a perfect start for someone like myself that has no experience with cutting machines. So far it's working out great for me. It gives me the opportunity to see if I want to advance to any of Cricut's bigger cutting machines. Also, the Cricut Joy is a great way to learn how to navigate in Design Space. Get the bundle, it’s always worthy the money.

They do have 12"x24" cardstock and it works really great for large words!

Thank you for your comment! I will say that I am giving my honest opinion here. I have really loved crafting with the Joy, because it makes it very easy to quickly put together a project. I do agree that this will be a great machine for new customers, that later may want to upgrade to the Maker or only plan on doing simple projects that can all be done on the Cricut Joy. Those that already have a machine would more likely invest in this machine for the ease of card making or if they love to craft on the go!

It depends on the pack -- vinyl comes in different lengths (up to 20 ft long) and some come in sets of 3 different colors. Prices start at $8.99 I believe. Remember that Cricut Joy SMART Vinyl, Iron On and Labels don't need a mat though!! So, that's a time saver and money saver! The mats are needed for cardstock and Infusible Ink (or if you're cutting down larage rolls of product) and they start at $8.99!

I am not sure. Because of the compact size of the machine, I don't think they'll be able to add another port. It also doesn't use the Adaptive Tool System, which allows for more advanced tools. My opinion is that they created this machine for quick and easy projects. So, I don't see them wanting to add too many features. But, this is all just my opinion.

Absolutely! Using vinyl, you'll be able to cut up to 20ft of shapes in one cut! They also have Adhesive Backed Paper that will be great for this!

I heard it had the capability to cut bonded fabric, but I haven't test that out yet. Keep in mind that it can only cut 4.5" wide, so the outfits would have to be for little little dolls. The Cricut Maker has a rotary blade that works in its Adaptive Tool System. So, if cutting fabric is something you want to do a lot of, I'd purchase the Cricut Maker over the Cricut Joy!

This is true -- Cricut Joy will not be able to use the Maker tools, because it doesn't have the Adaptive Tool System with girls that the Cricut Maker has. But, anything that can be cut on the Cricut Explore Air 2, can be cut on the Joy!

It's definitely not going to be a machine that everyone wants to spend the money on if they already own a machine. The technology they had to create to give it all the features it has, but compact, I'm sure cost them some money and that's how they came up with the price point! Hopefully, they'll have some deals in-store sometime this year that helps those that want it, but can't justify its full price, be able to get it.
