What Is the Difference between Weissbier and Weizenbier?

This is a video about German beer culture. Stephan explains the differences and commonalities of Weissbier and Weizenbier, including a few German essential beer vocabulary items. In no way is this video intended to promote the consumption of alcoholic beverages. This video does mention non-alcoholic alternatives to regular beer. I have always known that beer, and the making of beer are important, yet I have never been a beer drinker, or interested in the making of it. What I like least is Pilsener. The real Pilsener or the many copies. Too bitter for my taste. I did some of my growing up in the town where Veltins Pilsener is brewed which, a lot of people say, is the best in Germany. And yes, there was a Veltins family and, in my time, I knew them personally.

You might like some of the maltier Bavarian beers then: much smoother and less bitter.

@@loquidity4973 Strong and dark beer, like Bock or Doppelbock, are more to my taste. However there's a need to be careful. It's easy to get inebriated.

It may be worth pointing out that "Gebot" is more ancient and forceful than, say, "Gesetz" or "Anforderung". The German for the Ten Commandments is "Die Zehn Gebote Gottes", after all.

Very true! Its connotation carries more gravity than more modern equivalents. And, its (at least grammatical) antonym is "Verbot," which is still very much in use.

Kann man auch bei Bestellung sagen Fassbier?

Yes, if there is a specific "Fassbier" on the menu. It simply means that the beer is on tab instead of from a bottle. So, that could refer to any kind of beer really. And, most restaurants and bars (Kneipen) serve beer from a tab, simply because it's cheaper.

Soweit ich es weiss, ist Fassbier lediglich direkt vom Fass. Ob es naturtrüb ist kommt huntertprozentig auf die Brauerei an. Die meisten Biere sind zumindest teils gefiltert. Das ist bei Fassbieren wie auch bei Flaschenbieren so. @@dmitryche8905

Und wenn du ein Fassbier bestellen willst, dann sag am besten "ein ________ vom Fass," wie zum Beispiel "ein Helles vom Fass, bitte."@@dmitryche8905
