Fat Truck is the current gold standard of amphibious off road vehicles.

I pulled them up. Nice and expensive. Looks like they made the SHERP North American safety compliant for sales. I can't find any agreements between the two companies. However it does appear to be a much more modernized version. Safety everything for industrial use in Canada. Canadian spec tires, safety glass, lights, doors, etc.

Love the fact that it's built in North America, love the joystick, love the Cat turbo diesel, not a fan of the full length side windows. I'd prefer paneling instead. Aside from that it's definitely a 2nd option. Hoping a bigger model comes out soon, one comparable to the size of the new Sherp. Still a rich mans toy, but definitely obtainable for a working man who can save $

It’s a lot more truck then the Sherp. The Fat Truck has about 23 options and the Sherp has maybe four. One being a brush guard. But not AC. The FT AC will freeze you out. I know, I own them both.

Seems to be a lot noisier inside than the Sherp!! If you want to see a good comparison check out Ostacruiser’s KZfaq channel . He has a Sherp in fact his second one and he takes it where you would not believe!! His channel really shows you what the Sherp is all about!! Lets hope this Canadian Fat Truck turns out to be better!!!!!

Maybe you can loan one unit to a university that I am working now as a demo unit. We can demonstrate its capability as flood or disaster relief vehicle to authorities in Malaysia. We have a severe flood in 3 states in Malaysia and the response are limited by using MAN 4x4 truck and Toyota Hilux. So far, Sherp has not landed yet in Malaysia.

No, it’s not even close. The Sherp has skid steer steering and the FT has a joy stick. The FT has about 30 options and the Sherp has 4. To start off there is no ladder to get in a Sherp. Also the FT comes with AC which is huge. The Sherp doesn’t. I know.. I own both. Check it out at Fat Truck Midwest. They are great to deal with.

@@4by4squared88 sherp has a flip down thing that is a step and they were built for the Russian military so they aren’t meant to have AC because they don’t have heat there. As far as I’m concerned, open up the windows.

@@kamencic One joystick controls the Fat Truck, way better than the Sherp that needs two steering levers, one gear shift lever, a clutch pedal, and a throttle pedal. Fat Truck can counter steer, Sherp can not and never will unless they change the design of the powertrain. I could go on but I think you get the picture......

@@secondmouse9458 yeah but those are more like gimmicks. Compare fuel consumption, hours per tank values, water speeds, weights, buoyancy limits, ease of maintenance etc. Those are the things that really matter imo.

@@kamencic I wouldn't call how you control a vehicle "gimmicks". The control of the vehicle is the first thing I look at when buying a vehicle since it will determine whether I keep it or not. If it is cumbersome to control or tires you out easily then I won't buy it or keep it long, the things that you mention are all relative to the size of the vehicle and are tradeoffs that come with the overall size and weight, and in my opinion the Fat Truck is the perfect size for carrying 8 people in comfort and ease of driving it. The original Sherp might be lighter and use less fuel but I am not interested in its limited use and pain in the ass way of driving it, maybe some would put up with that hassle but once I saw the ease of use of the Fat Truck I can't lower my standards and go with something that I know will be more work to drive, and when I am off road the last thing I want is more things to do to keep the vehicle under control. Just the fact that the Fat Truck can counter steer and the Sherp can't, not even the latest Godzilla model, would make me pick the Fat Truck, counter steering off road is a huge advantage over just pivot steering. Sherp is doing well, it was out first in the market place and has some well known owners, but I think when people compare the advantages the Fat Truck has over the Sherp and even the ATAC-V Patrol then they will pick the Fat Truck.

@@secondmouse9458 jeah, you're probably right about gimmicks definition. Otherwise we can agree to disagree. I just love sherp for it's simplicity and practicality. It's ment for rough people who don't wear easily and know their shit. The people that could set out and spend days in wilderness relying on their vehicle and their own abilities. In those cases sherp have clear advantages over fat truck. And don't forget, fat truck and all others are just copies of the original sherp.
