If you really want to understand Revelation (& also the gospels), read the works of Barbara Thiering, especially 'Jesus of rhe Apocalyse'. Before she passed away, she was the worlds leading expert on the Dead Sea Scrolls, & the pesher technique. Her works will help you immensely. They helped me. I've been studying all this for about 20 years. Also, read the works of Laurence Gardner. He was an archeological historian. His books are also amazing.

No, it’s not logical. The lineage of Jesus was because he is God and came to be a human. And lineage was needed to take him back to Adam as he is the second Adam. in human, we all fell and in a human, we are saved. The second atom needed to be human, also needed to be God because only God could fulfill the requirement. Holding the view that you do, the antichrist can’t be anything but human. If you’re trying to parallel Jesus, then you would need another immaculate conception from the devil for the antichrist to be born from. And then the human aspect would go through Abraham all the way back to Adam. There’s no parallel needed or suggested in any eschatological view that I’m familiar with that there should be one. I think it’s a fine thought and something to throw on the table and discuss, I just don’t think it’s logical.

Revelation is divided between the non sealed prophecy..those prophecies soon fulfilled. The dividing point comes when the 7 thunders sound and john is told to not write the words of the thunders. After that an angel from heaven reveals those prophecies in vision form that John writes but does not understand. You can't even find any record of his college and his wife's college is described as a "diploma mill". He may have studied the dead sea scrolls, but he is neither a doctor nor a scholar. Research the numbers... from what I find, the 616 is the oldest manuscript... so it would have to be a guess that it is an error... the 666 being later could be argued that it was the error. Other explanation for the difference is different spelling for Nero's name. Nero/Neron ... Other explanations are 666 is greek spelling of Neron Kaiser and 616 Latin spelling of Nero Caesar transliterated into Hebrew.... No matter what direction one wants to approach it, you can end up with Nero.

Either way this is a theological interpretation that came years and years after the book of Revelation. Manuscript evidence shows that 666 is what John wrote, not 616 (see Bruce Metzger or Philip Comfort). All of the manuscripts we have of Revelation 13:18 contain 666 except two (P115 from middle of third century and Uncial C from fifth century). Like the OP said, Irenaeus (early church father and disciple of Polycarp who was a disciple of John) writes in the middle of the second century and says that 616 is a scribal error and that 666 is original. No this view is not right. Nero was local Revelation and the antichrist is clearly global. To say simply that the early christians viewed the Roman empire as their "whole world" is to read into it with extra biblical suppositions. The apostle john says that a third of the earth was burned up. It is clear John was prophesying of the whole globe and not just the Roman empire. In fact nowhere at all does it speak of the Roman empire in Revelation.

why would he give only 1st century christians something that applied to them and not our day ... easy, it applied to them. I appreciate your response but i will end with this. There are so many old testament unfulfilled prophecies that your preterist view fail to explain. One example is the 3rd temple which never existed. How do you explain a temple that never was? Until we admit it must be future? I should add i have never seen myself as a dispensationalist. I was never taught prophecy at my church (end times prpphecy) I came to the conclusion through reading the bible and later confirmed it with online theological teaching. @@juliebaggs6475 Lots of different resources. I use an interlinear Bible, mixed with Liddell and Scott's Greek-English Lexicon and Robert Alter's Hebrew Translation with Commentary. Those are great ways to get to the root meaning of the word or phrase. What do you mainly use Strongs for?

Strongs is highly regarded world wide as a very reliable source , it is not perfect but none is perfect , I see on Strongs and others as six hundred - sixity - and six , and some side notes that mention 616 , there is no other definitions , even so since Nero committed suicide and was not killed by Jesus in the 2nd coming , it is not possible that Nero is the beast of Rev 13 or 2 Thess 2 Strongs is a concordance that provides the original Greek words and Hebrew words and their meaning

The only people that don't like Strongs is those when Strongs oppose or refute a meaning that is incorrect is placed on the words . Using bible translations are quite varied so using a english translation or various versions bring in confusion because there are many Greek and Hebrew words that do not have an English equivalent That is why we see so many differing opinions on what scripture means Commentaries can be useful at times but still they are just opinions of how specific people perceive what they read and offer their opinions , and many times they are incorrect or have so many possibilities that they don't have clarity

The first beast: The heads are the big false religions of the world. The head wounded by the sword, that everyone thought would die, but didn't die... Is Judaism. The sword is the truth or word of God... Jesus taught the word of God to the Jews. Judaism should have listened, ended, and become a dead religion, but it rejected him and kept on going as if there was no Messiah. That makes it a false religion. Belief in God, but not Jesus... is a false religion. The second beast: So many clues here, but I'll only cover the number... The number is actually the biggest and easiest clue. What is 666? It's simple, if you don't overthink it. It's one number, made up of three numbers. Three 6's, that make one 666. The three numbers are all equal to each other. 6 = 6 = 6. Each number is not the same as the others though. The first 6 isn't the second 6, etc. They're three distinct and separate 6's. What religion fits that? One, made up of three. Those three are all equal. Those three are also all distinct and separate. Everyone keeps predicting the "antichrist", but it's been here for just shy of 2,000 years. It started shortly after Jesus was here. Billions believe in it...

In Rev 13, the original 1st Century reader could figure out who the beast was if they used wisdom and understanding as "it is the number of a man" (i.e. Cesear Nero as @jessaduke2645 above said). The man of lawlessness is not specifically stated as being Nero. It could have been but it doesn't have to be. It could be an evil person towards the end of time who leads people away from King Jesus, but the King will destroy this enemy on the Last Day when He returns to earth. On that Day those who have entered His eternal kingdom now will inherit the kingdom and eternal life only found in the King. The King's enemies will be destroyed on that Last Day.

Wind and water obeys the Lord but do not love. Trained animals obey but do not love.) Perfection is impossible so perfect obedience will not happen unless we are talking about Jesus Himself. Love means love. It's only when we trust Him that we can begin to love Him. TRUST Jesus Christ as our sufficient and only sin offering ( like the thief on the cross). That's the Gospel. (Loving Him, being grateful, obedience, glorification and worship all naturally flow out from this- though it remains imperfect because we are still human). I see where you're coming from but that still sounds like a works dependent salvation. Jesus destroyed the temple and it's systems but obviously not the law. Christians do keep the Sabbath when we believe. Hebrews 4:7 "today" is the Sabbath
