Vaporwave and all of its variations are really therapeutic. It's one of my favorite genres and one of my favorite things ever, it is so cool. I love it

From what I can tell the theme is nostalgia and consumerism, its mostly about nostalgia of America's past but theres also a lot of japanese stuff too. Saint pepsi mostly makes a subgenre called "Future Funk".

Loved vaporwave when it first popped up when I was in high school. Being a late 90s baby and 2000s kid all of this stuff was still nostalgic and fire to me. I think a lot of the new underground scene branched off from this wave, even “pluggnb” I’d argue is an offshoot of the vapor wave pioneers in the 2010s!

I think Vaporware is more based on late 90s and early 00s. And from late 70s to early 90s is more of a Synthwave.

I’ve been a Vapor junkie for coming up on a decade and a half now and I am not stopping at all, never did i ever have a genre that encapsulated who I am as a person so when I found vaporwave at about the age of 11 in 2012 I felt heard in a way. We 2000’s kids that grew up off mostly 80’s and 90’s media cause we were poor, we need an outlet too.

If there are anyone looking for some vaporwave artists, some of my favourite are Macross 82-99, Yung Bae, Tupperwave and Future girlfriend music. There are a lott more amazing artists but these are the ones that immedietly come to mind for me. Happy listening! 🎶

I only discovered VW as late as last late summer (somehow a bit too bad for being a 80s and 90s kid), but my life is enriched since then. For me VW is, strongly summarized, mainly relaxed commercial music/also often mallmusic. Yes, i do know there are subgenres (and boy, there seem to be a lot). But as an European we did probaly not have as really hardcore "mally" music as in the US of A, at least not all the time everywhere, but hey, like i said, as an 80s and 90s kid i grew up with American culture. So, Mallsoft and mallsofty VW are in a way such familiair sounds. I really do like it. Another good thing is that thanks to VW i, for instance, also came across Desert Sand Feels Warm At Night. However i found DSFWAN under the name of Vapor, in my mind it isn't that. It is really deep relaxation music, rather soundscapish imo. Before my discovery of Vaporwave i was already in (electronic) ambient and chillout music. Desert Sand i would certainly recommend if you like deep, drony ambient/chilloutisch music. Back to the core topic of VW: there is so much to discover, so much compilations. And another nice thing that Vw emulates to be reminescent of the era from roughly 1983 till Y2k. For me exactly the era with some of the best music but also culture. Vaporwave is the genre i didn't know i was missing.

I’ve gotten a lot of flack from friends who think my taste in music is strange or weird. Not to suggest those who listen to this kind of music is in any way better or smarter than others who don’t, but it certainly takes a particular kind of person to get and appreciate vaporwave and similar music

...That never was. Still reminesecent, if not very reminescent in places. I also like how the album in places lean to synthpop, like almost Synthwave. It has primarily an very heavy 80s vibes, '83-'86 vibes. Alltogether, super.
