Thank you for the details man. Now, how about melting gold of diffent colors, what are the rules there? When melting gold into bars, can some 18K rose gold be melted and reassembled with some 18K white gold and yellow gold, or should the bars be composed only of gold of a given color?
@apprenticemath8 жыл бұрын
+Ludovic Beck Mixing 2 alloys of 18k gold will result in 18k non-descript gold. It will be 18k, but neither rose, nor white, a mix in-between. Sometimes it makes cool new colors or hues but the industry think they have the colors most people like.

is there any polishing process after alloying? because I bought 750 gold ; yellow color but not as bright as yellow gold. shop owner said it hasn't polished yet, then he polished "white gold" color.
@apprenticemath8 жыл бұрын
Alloying has nothing to do with polishing, just like painting has nothing to do with framing. Polishing changes the surface finish, it does change how light is reflected. It could look a lot whiter. Change polish to a less fine polishing compound, there will be more color. All polishing removes gold, microscopically though.

hi i buy a pink gold ring.. after 2 week i go to the jewelery shop to resize the ring.. after 5 days the owner tell me that the ring is here.. dut the ring it isnot pink gold.. one part this that hold the diamond it was silver .. the change my ring?
@apprenticemath7 жыл бұрын
They did not (probably). The silver claws that hold the stone are stiff so the stone doesn`t come loose. Rose gold is kinda soft, made for re-sizing and bending without cracking.

But it’s funny you mentioned that, because the real white gold it is the platinum! Too much alike whit the gold, besides platinum is a lil bit heavier.

I have what I suspect to be rose gold. It tests 14kt on a scratch test but I thought rose gold was 18kt. It was also slightly tarnished. Is it possible that it is 14kt rose gold?
@apprenticemath9 жыл бұрын
+Wendy Kovin Hardness measured by scratch tests has nothing to do with chemical composition. 2HB pencils contain a lot of carbon as does gasoline and so do natural diamonds. Of course copper can be mixed with gold to 18k, 14k, 10k or anything in between proportions. You might be able to determine its chemical composition by taking only 2 measurements: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ec2Earh-rdaVoKc.html Thanks for watching.

That fine isn't the purest the purest is high vacuum vapor crystals
@apprenticemath9 жыл бұрын
jeff bob Probably. The purest is the concept of the element Gold, any technology in refining can never reach 100%. They can come close, such as 99.9999...%, that`s why I said "as pure as it gets", still called "fine gold" by the industry.

@saloegarden18415 жыл бұрын
White gold is just yellow gold plated with rhodium. You can make any yellow gold white gold. There is no white gold in the ground.
@Mr.BenjAmazingBoracay5 жыл бұрын
After few months it will turn yellow if you just plate it. as explained yellow gold mixed with palladium to make a white gold and rhodium plating make it more white. if you want 14k white gold you need 58.5% pure gold and 41.5% of palladium. but you can use silver or nickel if you can not get a palladium.
