What do Israelis think about Jesus and Christianity? Today I’m going to talk about a very sensitive and interesting topic.
I have decided to close the membership program here on KZfaq and open one on Ko-fi instead. It is so much better than KZfaq! There are several advantages: I can send you messages and answer your questions privately; I can post several photos together; you can choose between one-time support or becoming a member and sending your support once a year and not once a month… And if you send me $10 then I get… $10! There is no commission! (Whereas KZfaq takes 30% commission.)

You must have been daydreaming while watching this guy express his deepseated disdain for Christianity in cleverly veiled ways such as reducing Christians to almost nothing but eternal persecutors of Christians, or as zealously focused on converting Jews along with converting the entire world, that Christianity owes its existence and ideas entirely to Judaism while Judaism derived absolutely nothing from Christianity (very untrue as Christianity has influenced their abandonment of animal sacrifices, evolution of synagogues from simply places of gathering to places of actual religious services, views on women, slaves, abandonment of most of the restrictive halakha prohibitions and prescriptions, etc.). His constant line that Jews just want to be left alone is so deceptive as they have always viewed their role in history and the world to be that of "guiding" all the other nations to a deference to the Jewish understand of G-d's laws for mankind, or as they put it - turning to Jerusalem as their moral authority. My point is not to denigrate Judaism in any way just to call attention to the reality that there is much more hostility to Christianity in traditional Jewish thinking (including presently) than this guy makes it out to be. He is after all, working for the Israeli Ministry of Tourism. Also evidently undetected is how this guy keeps describing Israel as a democratic, western nation at the same time as he defends in a veiled way the Jewish essence of Israel, its existence to perpetuate that identity and heritage, the special status of Jews whose identity is even defined by an allegedly secular state at the same time as Jews living in various countries have been at the forefront of having countries divest as completely as possible of their Christian heritage. Finally, what is this thing of having Jewish guides specifically assigned and trained to speak to Christian audiences? Guides are supposed to explain the structures or objects people on tour are seeing not to preach. My guess is that such guides are part of the institutionalized cooperation between fundamentalists Christian groups and Israel whereby it was agreed that at least part of their tours would be led by guides provided by Israel. There's a clear sense, in spite of the guide's claims of being nonpolitical and religiously neutral in his tour guiding, that his aim is to ingrain into his audiences an "awareness" of the Jewishness of Jesus and Christianity which then means that Christians have a duty to give unconditional support to Israel as the guardian of the Jewish tradition while at the same time leading them to realize that it is an adulteration of Judaism to inject the worship of Jesus Christ as G-d and the Messiah into it. The only reason I would go with a guide like this guy is a curiosity for learning what Jewish interpretations are given to various things in the New Testament.

I was a severe alcoholic for almost 20 years. After losing everything and unable to stop, I turned to Jesus. For 6 months I prayed and begged every day for him to let me see him. Something inside told me if I could just see him I would be ok. On 9/3/02 I saw him in a dream. I instantly woke up and felt like I was hit by lightning, not in a bad way. He took away my desire to drink and and the years of guilt I carried with me. I cried my eyes out for hours. Could not believe he would do that for such a bad person. I have not had a drop of alcohol since then and don’t even think about doing it. He told me 3 things that night: there is no such thing as coincidences, don’t put limits on yourself and the end is near. Completely changed my life.

Cool story bro. Anecdotal evidence doesn’t mean jack-shit. Placebo effects are real, and our brains can convince us of “miraculous” events or ideas through chemical reactions. Jesus didn’t make you sober, you did. Grow up, study the serious New Testament academic scholarship, and stop pretending that you had an ontological miraculous experience of an dead ancient Palestinian Jewish Rabbi “healing” you. 🤡

Dear brother , maybe you are mistaken and is not accurate about the religious history since AD 27-28. Mankind’s beliefs in the land of Israel can generally be classified or summarized; ✅ Before | Jews (Monotheists) AD 27-28; | Gentiles (Polytheists) ✅ After | Jews (circumcised in flesh but un-circumcised in the HEART) AD -28. | Messianic Jews (circumcised in flesh & heart) until | Messianic Gentiles (circumcised in the heart) AD 550 | Christianity (un-circumcised in both flesh and in the heart) | Gentiles (un-circumcised) ✅ After | Jews (circumcised in flesh) AD -550. | Messianic Jews (circumcised in flesh & heart) until AD | Messianic Gentiles (circumcised in the heart) 2027-28 | Christianity (un-circumcised in both flesh and in the heart) | Muslim’s ((circumcised in flesh but un-circumcised in the HEART) | Gentiles ((un-circumcised in both flesh and in the heart) ✅ What makes each of these groups different from the other - Whether they are circumcised in the Heart or not. I will quote three citations from the Old Covenant (Jeremiah 9:25-26; refers to Israel & the Islamic Nations, a prophecy yet to be fulfilled) Deuteronomy 10:16; 30:6; Jeremiah 31:33} and one from the New Covenant {John 1:32-34;} in support of what I have written. Take the given references and find out for yourself whether you are circumcised in the Heart or not, for only two days are given to be circumcised in the heart and be revived (Renewal or revival of the Spirit) and the Lord will raise us up on the third day. {Titus 3:5; Hosea 6:2;) ✍️ Most people look at Christianity and a bunch of their traditions and practices and are deceived. Learn and understand what makes one Messianic/Christian/disciple/servant of the Lord. Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart by believing (John 2:22) and obeying and not denying the words of the Holy One. Be no longer stubborn, but in your hearts, honour Messiah (Christ) the Lord as Holy, for to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.

Hypocrisy at its’ best! Jews have no problem claiming Jesus as Jew and Christianity as coming from Judaism to control gentiles-but when it comes to actual teachings of Christianity and Christ Jews vehemently deny, criticize, and even hate Christianity, Christians, and Jesus. Christianity may share some scriptures with Judaism, but Christianity is NOT based on Judaism but is based on Christ Jesus-Who IS God and Savior. The Talmud is very clear on Judaism’s teachings on Books of Moses and prophets, Jesus, Christianity and non Jews-and Christianity does NOT teach what Talmud teaches.

The Christian's bibles are just very badly mistranslated and corrupted versions of the Torah/Tanach (The Real Word of G_d) with a lot changed including names, a whole lot added, and a whole lot taken out. Everything that G_d said not to do, Christianity did! Christianity lies! NO Hebrew/Jew was ever named Jesus, nor John, nor especially James. There is no letter J in the Hebrew alephbet nor does any of the Hebrew letters even make a J sound. Try actually reading the scriptures where G_d gave the Torah and the Commandments to Mosche and the Children/Nation of Israel on Mt. Sinai. G_d specifically told them in no uncertain terms that neither they nor any of their descendents all through time are to Never veer to the right nor left of the Torah/Tanach! Never!!! Do you understand what that means! G_d also told them in no uncertain terms that neither they nor any of their descendents all through time are to Never accept anybody else's religion! Never!!! Do you understand what that means? The One True Creator G_d also warned not to add to, nor subtract from the Torah/Tanach, but Christianity did it anyway. Christianity adopted way too many idolatrous and pagan beliefs contrary to what The One True Creator G_d actually said.

The Jews persecuted in history because our real enemy that we battle is Satan. Satan knows that the Jews is Gods plans for salivation, that's way he attacks them through out history. This my offend you but try to understand. First of all the word Christian was giving to the believers (who was Jews) by none believers. The believers considered their selves never changing their faith in Judaism. They were just excepting what their faith taught them on the coming of the Messiah. The point is that they NEVER CHANGED FAITH (they did not start a new religion). When it comes to non Jews (gentiles) who want to except the Messiah. The Bible says we are crafted into the Jewish family. So the world has it wrong ! There is not two religions ( Christianity and Judaism ) ! There is ONLY ONE ! That is what it means in the Bible when it says through the Jews we are saved.

@@specialagentorange4329 "The" Messiah, or just a messiah? If you believe he's "The One," then there's nobody else to follow, and he's the ultimate, the endgame. He's the star of the Old Testament, hailed as "The Redeemer and Savior," the cream of the crop, the one destined to put all the pieces back together. So you can see why it's pretty outlandish to label him the messiah and then turn around and say, 'but hey, he's just a regular prophet and Muhammad is the headliner, outshining Jesus.' It just doesn't jive. In the same vein, I might argue that Baha'u'llah is the prophet following Muhammad, even though it's plainly obvious to Muslims that Muhammad is the final prophet. Similarly, for Christians, the suggestion that Jesus isn't the ultimate prophet is just as ridiculous. At least the Jews are consistent; they simply don't recognize Jesus as a prophet. That stance seems more logical than twisting and warping the concept.

How about not teaching anything about Christ and Christianity in the school. That looks strange. Probably they could not have formally taught anything good about Christ, because Christ was a Jewish rebel who claimed that he is the son of the God. One has to read this together with the custom of orthodox Jews for ‘ritual spitting’ when they see the ways of cross processions in Jerusalem. There are several videos doing the rounds on this. In the absence of formal teaching in schools, wherever Jewish Israeli students learn as they grow up would be the ‘oral history’ which they learn at home and at religious schools. It’s clear that this is not quite charitable on Christ.

You must have been daydreaming while watching this guy express his deepseated disdain for Christianity in cleverly veiled ways such as reducing Christians to almost nothing but eternal persecutors of Jews, or as zealously focused on converting Jews along with converting the entire world, that Christianity owes its existence and ideas entirely to Judaism while Judaism derived absolutely nothing from Christianity (very untrue as Christianity has influenced their abandonment of animal sacrifices, evolution of synagogues from simply places of gathering to places of actual religious services, views on women, slaves, abandonment of most of the restrictive halakha prohibitions and prescriptions, etc.).

Dear Oren, thanks so very much o for making this video. One of the most important things I learned in this life is that everything that happens when it comes to human interaction, is based on a viewpoint. Two people can witness the exact same event and have completely different views on what has occurred. Obviously, these viewpoints are based on a myriad of factors, such religious beliefs, exposure to propaganda, etc. When viewpoints are diametrically opposed the risk of violence escalates. IMHO, the wisest people I have ever met where the ones who took the time to study and understand as many viewpoints as possible. They don’t have to agree with them, they just need to understand them and how they affect their lives. Thanks for helping me understand this viewpoint. Well done!

This was a brilliant video. I'd like to add a story. I'm a Canadian Jew who lived for many years in a small town in Eastern Canada where we were the only Jewish family. Most of my colleagues were believing Christians and we worked well together. I was immersed in their world. When I moved back to Toronto, I studied Hebrew in a night class with an Israeli. Although my Hebrew class had all Jews in it, in the afternoon our teacher taught a group of Christians. One day, she turned to us in the evening class of Jews and said, "I was just in my afternoon class with a lot of Christians, and did you know that Christians -- they believe Jesus is God?" Of course my first reaction, as a diaspora Jew, was, "Duh!" But it saddened me that she was so ignorant; what an incredible gap in her education! The entire Western world is rooted in Christianity, and I think the Israeli school system does have an obligation at least minimally to teach something about Christianity. I know that Israelis read a lot of English literature; you simply cannot understand it without some knowledge of Christianity, as so many symbols and metaphors are rooted in Christian symbolism and Christian motifs. How can you visit Notre Dame without knowing something about Christianity, just to give one example? The stained glass windows would be meaningless, as would the actual shape of the cathedral. Or, for example, at the level of children's books, how can you read the beautiful Narnia stories and fully understand them without knowing that Aslan the Lion represents Jesus? One more point: One thing Israelis should also understand is that the American Founders, all Christians, were steeped in the Hebrew Bible. Men like Adams and Washington had deep respect for what they read as the Old Testament, and of course Washington set a major precedent by establishing official tolerance of Jews.

Indeed, not knowing about Christianity is a pretty guaranteed way to be grossly ignorant of the world, including the diaspora, and even the founders of Israel (most of whom lived in Christian heritage countries). Even Israeli government design largely comes from Christian, not Jewish culture. It's pretty ridiculous to claim not to 'need' Christianity. Jews need a complete knowledge of their faith and understanding if OT prophecy. The Orthodox understand that implicitly. The question is whether Christianity fulfills this. Either it does or it doesn't. Practically, without Christians today, Israel wouldn't survive as we are their only reliable allies. Not wanting to be harmed is very different than being left alone. Lastly, it is a false history to pretend that Judaism post Christ is the same. Much of the structure now was to contend with the Christian messianic claims. It's not neutral re Christianity (for example the Talmud).

1. Brilliant. 2. However, to differ, just a touch... most of the American founders were free-masons and not "walking" Christians. In otherwords, they acted like, but didn't really believe. 3. I also loved the series from Narnia and see Aslan as you do.

Are Jewish soldiers and civilians offended by Christian support for them? Are they offended that we pray in Jesus name for their safety, healing both mentally and physically, for wisdom for your leaders? By the way, I was aghast the first time I went into a Catholic church and saw Jesus nail to the cross bleeding. The Catholic Church and Christian Churches are very different in their beliefs although they both believe in Jesus. You will not find Jesus on a cross in any Christian Church. We believe he rose from the dead. I’m not sure why they continue to leave him on the cross. I would not talk to a Jew about Jesus unless I was ask a question. I think anyone would be hard-pressed to stop Christians from supporting the Jewish people.

@boobie1967 I do get it: Now they reject Jesus because Jesus did not show all the signs of the messiah yet. But when the final hour comes, the messiah will makes himself recognizable to all jews by showing ALL the signs of the Messiah. If I recall correctly the book of revelation says that as soon as the jews will recognize the messiah they will be saved. We christians believe that the messiah who will arrive will be the Jesus of Nazareth who we worship. So since at the end the jews will follow Jesus of Nazareth and since Jesus was born from a jewish mother, I have no reason to hate jews as a christian EVEN if the jews reject Jesus today. In contrary, I will respect that. => ultimately Jesus will sheppard both christians and jews. Without the jews there would be no old testament and without the old testament the new testament makes no sense. So I thank the jews ✡ 🤝✝️. They don't know, it seems, because they've known His Father, since the beginning. They know the struggle is-real, they don't know they can lay their burdens down. They've carried the weight of the world, ever since Israel became the first Nation to have One God and the first nation to be delivered from slavery and the first nation to suffer backsliding and then be restored, etc., etc.... they are the first fruits. God's first born. Still, God will never leave them, nor forsake them. He promised and God is not a promise breaker. Us sinners, are. Until we confess and repent, which is to accept that we break our promises; God will remain to keep His.

Well biggest part for Jews to accept Jesus has been the false apparent church the Catholics and then the Protestants who were never Christians ( nor the Amish). The true Church never persecuted Jews, but was persecuted by them and that was the Biblical Jews and then gentile converts who were Monarchians holding one God and no Trinity (3 god) or dualist ( 2 god). Oneness Apostolic s did not come from the Trinity religious idea. Jews are blinded to the Messiah and who Jesus truly was. They didn't understand that Jesus said in 3 days he would raise the theme, that it was not a building, but his flesh, the SON Being THE FLESH OF GOD. ISA. 62 is one of many passages showing Jesus who he was, it is but a drop of passages in the O.T. doing so. Israel will eventually lose in their warring against Muslims and the World and the antiChrist will come about and Israel will then have the 2 witnesses and the 144,000 in the last days....THEN JESUS CHRIST WILL RETURN AND SETUP THE EARTHLY REIGN For 1000 YEARS. I know I am right, Oren only knows what he is taught. It isn't the correct idea, but it is what is missed by most Israelis and Jews in the world. Muslims who worship a false stone statue God named "allah" will find out how wrong they were and their hatred for Jews. Oneness Christians do not or ever have hated Jews or persecuted them...period!!

So interesting to hear the Israeli perspective, Oren! Thanks for being honest about your beliefs. You are a gift - I so appreciate your knowledge and willingness to share it with the world - it is very enlightening. I am one of millions of protestant American Christians that love Israel and its people. Despite the horrible persecution Jews have suffered at the hands of so-called Christians ... any serious Christian who follows the Bible and its truth about God's love ... will have a deep affinity for His People, and a belief in God's promises for the state of Israel and Jewish people as a whole (and we don't have to be Amish to do so). Right-thinking Christians don't believe we have taken the place of Judaism, but we DO believe we have Judaism to thank for our own religion! For me and my friends, it is not "our religion against theirs". It's ... "our religion is built upon and grateful for the foundation of Judaism" - a very different and loving perspective. In fact, in the late 1700's, America was founded by mostly Christian men who knew, understood and believed the Bible so much, they created a safe place for Jews to live in America - hence why America has for the most part supported modern Israel since its inception. We consider America to have been founded by "Judeo-Christianity" because Judiasm is such a vital part of Christianity. With regard to combining two opposing faiths, we could also never imagine a "Muslim Christian" ... as there is no combining those two belief systems. It's also not possible for a Christian gentile to be a Jew (that is, devoted only to Judaism), because even though we have Judaism to thank for our foundation, Jesus Christ is the vital part of our belief system. But a Messianic Jewish Christian (that is, a Jewish person who has accepted Christ) is quite possible! Because Christianity is in every way an extension of Judaism - in fact we believe, a fulfillment of it. A couple of points: You're right to say Christians don't typically read the Quran or other religious books (unless they are in a course studying all religions or something). However, serious Christians DO in fact read the Jewish Bible and know it very well! Again, this is because authentic Christians are deeply aware that Judaism is the source and the reason we have Jesus, and we believe so much of Judaism, starting with Abraham, points to Christ. Therefore, we read and know the Tanakh, and are so very thankful to God's chosen people (the Jews) and what their relationship with God has taught us. In fact, we believe the seven feasts, down to the minute details of those feasts point toward Jesus (the first four feasts of spring were already fulfilled by Jesus in His first coming, the last three in the fall will be fulfilled in His second coming). Also, in the Jewish Bible, Jesus is depicted both as a suffering servant and a conquering king (of the Davidic line). This could be confusing until one realizes His first coming was as a suffering servant who died as the ultimate sacrifice for sin - an act that fulfilled the Mosaic law and ended the need for any more sacrifices (therefore, it's no accident that Jerusalem and the temple sacrifice system was destroyed in 70 A.D. - less than a generation away from Jesus' sacrifice (around 33 A.D.). So now, belief and acceptance of Jesus and His sacrifice is what brings salvation and forgiveness for all sin. Faith (belief) is everything ... just as in the Bible (Old Testament), it says "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted unto him as righteousness"(Genesis 15:6). But Jesus' second coming will be as a conquering King (who eventually rules) - and this will be the fulfillment of the last three feasts and the parts of the Jewish Bible that depict Him as such. All of Jesus' initial followers were Jewish of course, as was He - and we have those Jewish disciples to thank for spreading Christianity and most dying a horrible martyr's death in doing so! But as a whole, the leadership of ancient Israel rejected Jesus and taught posterity to do the same. As a result, God opened the door for the messiah of Israel to be the messiah for gentiles as well, and as a sacrifice for the sins of the whole world (something God knew would happen all along ... as God created and loved the whole world, but chose one people (the Jews) to represent Him). And from this chosen people ... their messiah became a gift to this world. As far as the temple being built before the messiah comes ... the temple WAS rebuilt by King Herod, just before Jesus was born. Many Christians believe a third temple will also be rebuilt before Jesus comes back the second time (and there's talk in Israel of doing just that). All Jews coming together in Israel has (in essence) happened, with the miraculous modern state of Israel coming together in 1948. Even though all Jews do not live there, they are welcomed there - and many consider it "home". And one day, Christians believe Jesus will rule from there at His second return (and all Jews could live there at that time, if they'd like). As far as peace before the messiah (we believe Jesus) comes? No, there was not peace the first time Jesus came - the Jews were under Roman rule when Jesus was born. As far as Jesus' second coming? This gets into deep eschatology, in which there are varying interpretations ... but the New Testament indicates an anti-christ or anti-christ system coming into fruition, and he will establish peace for only a small season ... THEN, all hell breaks loose, and Jesus Christ will return for a second time (this time as a conquering king). I could say so much more here, but I'll just say this: God is STILL one God! The Trinity (God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit) are all contained within ONE. Just as humans are three in one - the soul (mind, will, emotions), the body, and the spirit ... God is is three in one as well. Jesus said, "If you've seen Me, you've seen the Father." Some people find this difficult to understand ... but it's not at all difficult for me. Jews that have opened their minds to the New Testament have been shocked at just how Jewish it is, and how in the New Testament, every Jew (including Jesus) was initially following the Mosaic Law. They also become amazed at how Jesus proves Himself to be the prophesied messiah in so many layers and on so many levels - which frees the Jewish reader, enlightens him and gives him such a profound hope in Y-hw-h, Himself! So sorry I've written a long book in this comments section, but I thank you, Oren, for your insight and your service to the rest of us ... both as a tour guide in Israel and also on the internet! God bless you!

@@soltantio Hello. Could you help me to understand why you do not recognize Jesus as the Messiah? He showed up and was "Cut off" per the exact timing predicted in the Tanach in Daniel chapter 9, and what he did during his life on earth couldn't possibly be any more like what we see in Isaiah 53. Here is an English translation of it below from the Dead Sea Scrolls dating before the time of Jesus. Specifically it is taken from a book called "The Dead Sea Scrolls Bible": Isaiah 53 1 Who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? 2 For he grew up before him like a tender plant, and like a root out of a dry ground; he had no form and he had no majesty that we should look at him, and had no attractiveness that we should desire him. 3 He was despised and rejected by others, and a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering; and like one from whom people hide their faces and we despised him, and we did not value him. 4 Surely he has borne our sufferings, and carried our sorrows; yet we considered him stricken, and struck down by God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, and he was crushed for our iniquities, and the punishment that made us whole was upon him, and by his bruises we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, each of us, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, as a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. 8 From detention and judgment he was taken away and who can even think about his descendants? For he was cut off from the land of the living, he was stricken for the transgression of my people. 9 Then they made his grave with the wicked, and with rich people his tomb although he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet the Lord was willing to crush him, and he made him suffer. Although you make his soul an offering for sin, and he will see his offspring, and he will prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will triumph in his hand. 11 Out of the suffering of his soul he will see light, and find satisfaction. And through his knowledge his servant, the righteous one, will make many righteous, and he will bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore will I allot him a portion with the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong; because he poured out his life to death, and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sins of many, and made intercession for their transgressions. You can see in Isaiah 53 above that Jesus is being rejected by his own people, Israel, and we even see his resurrection from the dead described in the phrase "see light". This is just borrowing the biblical language of coming back from the dead or escaping death from the Tanach in Job 3; Job 17:11-16; Job 18:17-19; Job 33:27-30; Psalm 49:13-20. For example: [Job 3:15 or 16 ESV] 16 Or why was I not as a hidden stillborn child, as infants who never see the light? You mentioned too that it is generally believed that Jesus was just a good man. This raises the question of how he could perform miracles if he was only a good man? Those who wrote the talmud many years after Jesus were still assuming it to be a historical fact that Jesus performed miracles. They called Jesus a "sorcerer". Here's what they wrote directly from the Babylonian talmud, Sanhedrin 43a, verse 20: "But isn’t it taught in a baraita: On Passover Eve they hung the corpse of Jesus the Nazarene after they killed him by way of stoning. And a crier went out before him for forty days, publicly proclaiming: Jesus the Nazarene is going out to be stoned because he practiced sorcery, incited people to idol worship, and led the Jewish people astray. Anyone who knows of a reason to acquit him should come forward and teach it on his behalf. And the court did not find a reason to acquit him, and so they stoned him and hung his corpse on Passover eve." I'm curious to know what you think?

As far as conquering, the life of the historical Jesus of Nazareth proved that He was not interested in any political kingdom, and your Amish families answered you rightly on that. In fact, it was this lack of being a political messiah that disappointed so many of the Jews who hoped He would deliver them from Roman rule. So, while many point to the Crusades, and the Inquisition, which were horrible events, the fact is that they were an exception, they had nothing to do with Biblical Christianity, and centuries have passed with millions of Christian missionaries traveling throughout the world with no interest of conquering people by force in any way. You talked about the impossibility of God having a Son. Please read Psalm 2:7 and Isaiah 7:14. You spoke of the foreignness of a suffering Savior; please read Isaiah 53. You mentioned that Christianity has been the biggest persecutor of Jews. I will not deny that people who called themselves Christian have persecuted Jews. Also please acknowledge that Jews persecuted early Christians, as the early Christians of the first, second and third centuries were persecuted first by the Jews and then by the Roman empire, as historians such as Josephus and Eusebius have recorded. You may be interested to know that the evangelical Christian perspective on Israel is that we love the nation and people of Israel, we recognize the land covenant that God made with Israel, that will never be broken. You have correctly observed about Christians, that we are not a monolithic group; many who call themselves Christians do not really believe the Bible is truth, both the Old Testament (your Tanakh) or New Testament. Bible believing Christians believe that the entire Bible is true, the inspired Word of God. Now, I have a few questions for you. 1. Why is it acceptable in Judaism to be atheist, but not Christian? In other words, it seems to me that Jews view it as acceptable to be atheist and still Jewish, but a Christian can no longer be a Jew. 2. Is it true that Judaism elevates the teaching of the rabbis and historical teachings such as the mishnah and the talmud (and maybe many other rabbinic teachings) to the same level as the Bible? (In Christianity, Catholicism does this with their historical teachings, but evangelicals do not accept them as the inspired Word of God.) 3. Exactly when did the concept or even the word "messiah" come to be used? I can't find the word in the Old Testament, although there are many references to God as Savior, Deliverer. However, right away in the New Testament, Jesus is referred to as Messiah (John ch 4.) So, somewhere in the 400 years between old testament and new testament, the word "messiah" came to be used? Thank you if you've taken the time to read this, Please know that I, and many other Christians, pray for Israel every day, and often throughout the night.

I really appreciate you sharing your perspective on this. True Christians love their Jewish brethren. They also know that Christians are not a replacement for Israel. The promises God made for the Jews are still for the Jews! It baffles me how replacement theology ever got off the ground.

Ya.. me too! .. "Replacement Theology" disgusts me no end.. and the fact that its taught from the same pulpits that preach Yeshua is nearly unforgivable. If replacement theology is true then somebody needs to inform the Adversary and his terroristic minions that they're bombing and killing the wrong "Jews". I guess this also means Jesus won't be returning to Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives.. he'll have to reroute His 2nd coming arrival plans to land in the parking lot of the Vatican. 😏

Thanks so much! I think it helps to remember that we are quite limited beings, unable to get our heads around very much truth about God. Certainly nobody has the whole truth, and we can be grateful for the bits of insight we may gain from hearing genuine stories of what other people experience. And we can recognise the love in them. That matters a lot more than the particulars of religious explanations I think.

References to God's Son in the Old Testament are as follows: Proverbs 30:4 Psalm 2:7 2 Samuel 7:12-16 Isaiah 7:14 Psalm 2:12 Job 1:6 (Angels) Less obvious mentions without reading the New Testament: Genesis 1:26 Genesis 3:15 Genesis 28:10-20 Isaiah 53 Daniel 9:25-26 David also spoke of the King of glory in the book of Psalms. Who is the King of Glory? The LORD strong and Mighty. He was talking about God's Son. David said, " The LORD said to my Lord, ' sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool'. Who was Abba Father talking to when He said 'sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool'?

@@Foxie770 I am a follower of the Messiah and I disagree with Judaism as a religion but not as a people! As a people, the Jews are my brothers as we have in common the same patriarch Abraham, they as descendants of blood but I because of faith! I don't agree with Judaism or any other religion because all religions seek relationship with God on the basis of their own merits (as if God were your boss who you have to obey otherwise you're fired)! My approach with the God of Abraham is not on the basis of the Law (which I love and respect deeply) because because of the Law we are all guilty before God but on the basis of Grace through faith in the Messiah Jesus Christ, because of which we are all loved and accepted instead!
