India, the world’s largest democracy, embarks on the first phase of its monumental election, which will be conducted in seven phases, with the results scheduled to be announced on June 4th. This election, encompassing 970 million eligible voters, is the largest in the world. The contest pits the incumbent leader of the Hindu nationalist BJP, Narendra Modi, against the opposition alliance INDIA, which includes the historically successful Indian National Congress Party. UFunny that Mrs Menon says the country isnt ready for UCC. Despite 75 years post independence, if the country isn't ready for UCC it reflects on the faliures of all previous governments. The country will never be ready for change courteousy narrow minded goals, agendas of political parties were they prefer the population to be divided, just for their personal and selfish goals on retaining power by dividing people. Especially so for dynastic parties. History has shown very rarely change has been progressive and amicable to all. French and Russian revolution are perfect examples. Change is not comfortable, but for the larger good of the country UCC is necessary. Mrs Menon is also either ignorant or intentionally hookwinding by saying Modi promised Rs 15 lakhs for all. He only said, ' If we bring back all the black money people have stacked outside the country, there will be enough money for every Indian to get rs 15 lakh.'
