Clara Lieu was an Adjunct Professor at the Rhode Island School of Design from 2007-2020. Her artwork has been exhibited at the International Print Center NY, the Currier Museum, Childs Gallery, the Davis Museum, and more. Lieu received an artist fellowship from the MA Cultural Council, has written for the NY Times, and lectured at Brown University, the NAEA conference, and in Vancouver & China. She has been profiled in Artsy, Hyperallergic, KPCC, & WBUR.

Here’s my thing: where does one go to learn to push your skills from an upper-beginner to an intermediate artist? Seems like you could get some real fundamentals from books and KZfaq, but like every paid art program I hear about (art school, art major…not conducive for working professionals) is for the already-intermediate/advanced level to get up to the expert level. Is there no place for me except to just keep muddling through on my own? I’m ok to do that, but I feel like that will be much slower to progress than having actual instruction. :(
