I'm getting the impression that as the company grows, Jordan is stepping back as an electrician more and John is his replacement. If that's the case, John is probably the best hire Jordan has made. He isn't just teaching Reuben, he was teaching Luke. He was taking advantage of anything that was a teachable moment and testing their knowledge. While having a laugh.

How do u figure that? Reuben was taught just as much as Luke. Reuben was always watching and listening when John was teaching Luke. He tasked Luke once without asking Reuben to look that's it. I'm sure he will do similar for Reuben. John seems very knowledgeable and I think he was a good acquisition for the artisan team. Corey is obvs the best to watch but I still watch every video of different people because Jordan always hires kind people either knowledgeable or keen to learn and they all share the artisan spirit of caring about your work while having abit of banter. Cheers boss

When you say the ring readings technically haven't got a maximum reading and gave the example of 3 ohms, surely its maximum reading is determined by the max permitted Zs of the breaker type, e.g. 1.10 ohms on a B 32? I could be wrong though

Its a classic trick attempting to sway the other player. He always does a demo first with the opposite player, saying which number to fire on and then he holds out either rock paper or scissors, in this instance he says "1, 2, 3 and go on the 4th" and he holds out rock very obviously. The opposite player, then thinks hes going to shoot rock in the real game- so they will play paper to beat the rock they think hes going to play, but instead when its the real game he switches to scissors. I've noticed him do it a few times before, and he always looks mischievous when hes got away with it again!

I can’t understand how you guys manage to keep it together, working on installations were hidden junctions are allowed. It’s hard enough to find our junction boxes in the walls when they’ve been covered by 3-7 layers of wallpaper over the years. Then again we don’t do as much testing, if it works it works and if not a complete rewire in a normal house built in the 50:s and forward is done by two guys in a day.
@Ragnar8504
@Ragnar8504 2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately most European countries do allow hidden junctions as long as the connections are permanent (crimped, welded or soldered) so you can have some surprises no matter where you are. Besides, hacks do whatever they feel like, I'm sure choc blocks buried in plaster without as much as a bit of tape have never been legal, yet I've found them quite often. In my experience rewires usually give trouble for one reason or another, even in houses completely wired in conduit. Crushed conduit (plumbers sometimes bash it with a hammer if it gets in the way of their pipes), overly tight bends, screws driven through conduit (in one place I had to pull six screws and rawlplugs out of one single run of flexi), etc.. Typically you also want to add more circuits so you'll likely have to run some new bits from the fuse board.

You'll have to forgive me as I'm an apprentice and we've recently just done about lighting circuits ect and briefly touched on that they are single pole, things like a loft light switch with and led on it would be double pole. My understanding would be that a fused spur would be double pole as the line and neutral are separate but the earth shared. What makes this boiler spur not double pole?
@darrenqualters2341
@darrenqualters2341 2 жыл бұрын
You are correct in what you say, a fused spur generally is double pole. I don’t think Jphn was saying the fused spur isn’t double pole, he was referring to the fact that they have a maximum rating of 13 amps and a 3kw immersion heater pretty much runs just over 13amps And can burn them out over time. Therefore a double pole isolator switch is far more suitable as these are usually rated at 20 amps

Hi, I am from the Newmarket area and wondered (just approx) how much it would cost for one of your team to fit a pro ring doorbell into our hardwired doorbell system. Connected to the house power, not battery. We want the hardwired chime to stay rather than a ring plugged in chime. House is from 2000 and wiring is all labelled and neat (electrician lived here last and kept it all well organised). If I need to contact in another way, please let me know and I will give you my email off public platform. Thanks 🙏

Guy with the headlamp and the big tester is the type of guy that wastes a lot of time and he could never make it on a real construction site. He has pretty much developed in his own mind how everything works and that is just how it needs to be. Counteracting him is simply not worth it. It is a personality disorder. I've ran into autistic guys like him in the trades over the years. He will likely stay in that same job until he retires. He really feeds on meeting new people who can see how smart he is in his own way of thinking. Really might be the only time he trully feels alive. But the contractors will be happy to keep him working because he needs the job for his own identity and he will always show up for work. Getting guys to show up and be somewhat focused is almost impossible these days.
