The moment a country stops worshipping its politicians and begins to treat its scientists/inventors/geniuses as heroes, remarkable things begin to happen. Kudos Ghana this is a sign of great things!

The National Science and Math Quiz has progressed over the years. It is more of a Science and Math festival today. There are actually science fairs where students from all schools present different projects they are working on. There are also mentorship programs where previous contestants and as well as professionals from all career fields such as the military, medicine, aeronautics etc mentor the students. Tours of different corporations and organisations such as Goil, Research institutes and more. Kudos to Primetime! I must commend the rebranding.

I'm from the United States. While I am not surprised that the Ghanian students in particular and African students in general are very disciplined and highly intelligent students, I'm certainly impressed with the enthusiasm that they have for academic competitions, like it's a soccer game. I wish many students here in America would be this enthusiastic about something like this.

And thing to when u naah get power u will do the same thing everyone says this but once they are in power they do the same thing absolute rubbish. Ghanaian always insulting the government but never appreciating a single thing. The government has flaws but u don't make it any better. You Ghanaians nah don't help then u make outrageous demands that's cant be fulfilled cus it's unreasonable. U expect that when a government comes into power it should transform the country and make it like foreign countries but that's not possible its a slow process. Over a long period of time during the reigns of many government but Ghanaians no. You don't understand cant use common sense. It gets annoying when u are always complaining but u don't do anything. You as u are there u should no that around 70 percent of Ghanaians don't pay taxes right Only government workers do. Now how do u expect a country to function without taxes. We don't know. When government is owing ur getting mad but u naaahbdont pay. Roughly 70 PERCENT OF GHANAINS DONT PAY TAXES. How do u expect a country to progress. If government comes and forces taxes u say they are being oppressive. We are facing power issue rn. Let me ask u something don't u know the number of Ghanaians that do illegal connection? Government has to pay for electricity to fund these illegal connections but they aren't getting money. Your putting pressure on transformers. YET AFTER ALL THIS U DONT EXPECT DUM SOR TO COME BACK. Ghanaians we naah are destroying our own country fools. How can we develop when all of our youth are running away abroad. Where's the man power. Fools foolish fools. Just imagine a situation where instead of chew and pour quizzes, the kids have to demonstrate their understanding of scientific theories by coming up with their own experiments. Even further - they can compete in various categories of robotics, material science (aimed at rampant usage of single used plastic) renewable energies, rocket science, mechanics, aeronautics, coding etc. you would see local innovations from these youngsters which will solve indigenous problems and advance the society.

My hurt is, after all this, we don't get to hear of these students any longer. Some fade out. Some become brains for other countries whereas Ghana doesn't benefit from them. It's probably because, by conjecture, the government doesn't really monitor the progress of these students. And at the end, no benefit whatsoever is enjoyed by the country from these students. It makes me wonder what benefit this quiz is contributing to national development, aside building up these talents that we don't get to enjoy in our country because they fade out.

@@royaldiadem8660 Braa gyae! You don't watch because your school can't qualify to compete. If you had mates who had competed you'd know that they indeed are "coming out with tangible stuff". They may not be shouting yeaah yeaahh in Parliament but they are certainly brightening their little corners. If you are looking for a radical change in the general Ghanaian society, it would be silly of you to expect that to be led by scientists... You should be questioning your pastors and politicians.

Check out this link. starrfm.com.gh/2019/07/problem-of-the-day-toxic-narratives-from-the-nsmq/ Such crude treatment of girls should not be encouraged especially in competitions and situations such as the NSMQ. It demeans all the hard-work each contestant has put in in hope of winning , and such rude comments being made and said so publicly may end up discouraging other young girls from participating in math and science competitions.

Is not chew and pour, contestant are required to demonstrate an understanding of the questions and explain their answers. The quiz has really evolve from how it started. By the way Chew and Pour is not a bad thing. During your formative stages you do lot of chew and pour with the expectation that as u grow the things you've learnt will make sense to you and you will be able to put them to good use. Relying solely on chew and pour and not taking time to understand the concept is the problem.
