oh man, this is super nostalgic for me. I discovered DougDoug through his Explained with Food series way back in 2018, and while he has kinda moved away from those types of videos I still hold them all close to my heart.

Doug Doug forgot about the classic bonus stars setting where the 3 bonus stars aren't random which are Mini-game star It goes to the player(s) that won the most mini games Coin star Is a rich bonus where who ever had the most coins gets the star Event star Where the player that landed on the most event spaces gets the star. This was the only Mario party game that people made a character tier list for, with daisy being S tier because her die only had 3’s and 4’s.

I will say most Mario Party games have a gimmick of sorts depending on the game. Like Super Mario Party here has the custom dice and allies related to it. 1 was the first so it is rough around the edges, Some other ones that had all players move together in a vehicle, or some have a night and day board changing shenanigans. Or maybe some do have minimal changes and improve on the past one it depends. And Mario Party Superstars is the latest one currently and it is purely a best of Mario Party of sorts bringing back old boards and old mini games and bringing it back to a form of Mario Party people have been waiting for.

This video is great, but it's really only good for explaining one specific Mario Party game...which is Super Mario Party or the 15th core game in the series. There's always some kind of gimmick that differentiates one game from the other, but this one is in an incredibly weird place between all of them. It still maintains the core gameplay of all the other games (9 and 10 not included) but in a very dumbed down and slower way. It's incredibly beginner friends and there isn't a big focus on strategy. This game is much more focused on random chance and giving beginners a fighting chance. Stuff like the 1-6 Die instead of the typical 1-10, Stars only costing 10 coins, most items in the series being scrapped, everyone getting coins in most mini-games regardless of placing, small boards, slow pace, and the ally system all make the game much more accessible to beginners while scraping a lot of what fans actually enjoy about the series. Mario Party 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and Superstars are typically the fan favorites in the series because while still having quite a bit of randomness involved, there's also plenty of things that reward you for being skilled or making strategic plays with the resources given or planning around the Bonus Stars which are 100% known ahead of time so you can play around what could be there more easily. Mario Party 5, DS, and 8 are fine in there own right but the fanbase is more divided on if they're actually good or not. The first game sure does exist, and while we appreciate it, no one will every pick that game out of all of them unless they're a sociopath. And no one on the planet enjoyed 9 or 10 where they completely changed the game play and made it just an awful mess.

The Bonus Stars are rage inducing, yes, but it's not THE reason. Add the bonus stars with: -Bad dice rolls -Sabotage via items/board events -Minigame competitions And you have a recipe for disaster and broken friendships. I almost want to buy you a Switch just so you can experience the raw beauty and terror for yourself, but, y'know, NO MONEY.

Now I’ve seen people recommend Maxors Ultrakill video… but before you dive into that chaotic advent you should know a few things 1.Maxors editing is basically the Animated bits in Badgers videos but on Crack. 2. All of the weirdness Maxor mentions in his Ultrakill videos are real… the secret levels are all true… but as per the latest update it now it has a FISHING secret level. The body pillows in Part 1? Also True… the uhhh… yeah not gonna mention that but it’s true too… mostly because the negative reviews were … and I’m not fucking joking here… we’re complaining about how there wasn’t any and I FUCKING QUOTE “GAY ROBOT SEX”… oh did I mention that the dev of this game Hakita is basically the game dev equivalent of Maxor 3. Maxor is a MASSIVE VTUBER Simp… and a Massive Genshin Impact simp(specifically for Ganyu) Oh and Speaking of Vtubers 4. Gianni(Gaberiel’s VA) did a enitre stream of Ultrakill on his channel using a Gabriel Vtuber Rig and of course since this was technically a shitpost stream was talking in character.
