Ehhh I have to disagree with your comment about how Charged’s stage music is mostly forgettable. Strikers Charged has a great soundtrack.

What I loved the most of charged was that difficulty, especially on the final cups. My god is it borderline impossible to win, and that’s what makes it so much fun.

Mario sports games always leave me unimpressed. Especially the switch ones recently. Everything just looked very basic. Strikers looks so cool. I'm very excited to try it out

From my memory, a fair few Next Level Games developers also worked on another Fantasy Soccer game called SEGA Soccer Slam from 2001/2002, one of the earlier SEGA Multiformat games after the company discontinued the Dreamcast.

I remember playing the first 'Mario Strikers' demo at the giant 'Toys R Us' that used to be at Times Square 42nd street. The art style and cut scenes immediately caught my interest. The fun characteristics that each captain had felt so engaging, this was definitely my favorite Mario Sports game. 23 years later and I still own my physical copy in mint condition.

The main reason I loved Mario Strikers Charged: Bowser's losing animation was just him looking sad Peach on the other hand threw a temper tantrum.

I never played the gamecube version but I loved mario strikers on the wii since the first time I played it, back in 2009. I am very hyped for the new one, I hope they dont screw things up. All they need to do is give me gameplay and animations on the same level of quality, and I will be satisfied.

I can't lie, I'm really nervous about the new game. It looks so... Sterile in comparison. I'm sure NLG probably has less control over that than before, Nintendo's been pretty strict about keeping things "in-brand", I think that's evident even from like, the way they replaced Kritter with Boom Boom, or the way they smack against the electric fence. In Charged, it was BRUTAL, but in the new one, it looks... I dunno, weak? I personally loved the gritty style Charged had, and all the personality that was poured into every aspect of it's design. I just worry the new one won't come close to capturing that. I was super excited when it was announced, I've been wanting a new Strikers game since the second one came out, I love that game to death. But this one... It worries me. I really want it to be good.

I played both Mario Strikers games back in the NGC and Wii era, really felt that the Wii Strikers was the better game but the controls of the NGC Strikers was the better controls. I also felt that Mega Strikes or Super Strikes should have been 2 Goals only, any more than that will resort in people using just the Captains to score goals and the sidekicks will be left out in the cold.

I am super hyped about the new switch title, but I can't get over the fact that they got rid of the sidekicks. I never got to play the Gamecube version, but from what I could see here, Charged got a pretty solid team creation with the captain + 3 different sidekicks. Maybe Battle League could have aimed to actually choosing more than one main character for the same team or creating a team of only sidekicks since we can actually custom the character stats now to give even more freedom. I'm just a huge fan of the sidekicks xd I actually like them more than some of the human main characters. The theme song each character had in Charged also added a lot to their personality as well.

After playing a little of Battle League I can say that it is the 'Brawl' of Mario Strikers and Charged will be the melee, hate the lack of characters and how not broken the game feels

Imma be honest I like the new game coming on and how its going(apart from most likely wait till hype is gone to give us free dlc) But honestly all the hype I should be having for it just made me have hype to play charged again instead of Well Look forward to the new one The new one is clear they let go that rough and sas they gave everywhere because now it feels like your average sunday soccer with the mushroom kingdom and neighborhood Than Post apocalyptic crap like in charged And think about it What other mario sport is THAT way Also no daisy for now😔

drastic changes between the first two games and battle league the banana peels are thrown the opposite direction the kritter goalie (or kremling) is replaced with boom boom the stage hazards are absent (the first game had the bowser event as it’s hazards) the sidekicks are also absent the game is more focused on the visual animations

I loved playing these games with my cousin back in the day and I think I’ll pick up charged myself on Wii U before the eShop closes down. I share the sentiment of some worries with the new game, but I’m hopeful it can be just as enjoyable, if not more than the previous entries.

Mario Striker Charged Football is the most badass Mario Sport game ever. I love how every characters has their personality, theme and special moves. The overall presentation is the best! Also, the deke from Playmaker and Defensive characters is broken, you can bypass the goalie with it. 9:34 10:21 Dat Bowser shot scene is beautiful! I also worry about the game on Switch. This console is meant for casual gaming and it can't exploit the "badass" feel of Mario Strikers.

I remember when I was a kid my dad rented Super Mario Strikers from Blockbuster and me and my brother absolutely adored it. Sadly after our rental period was up my dad had to return it but by that time our local blockbuster was going belly up and so they offered to sell the game to my dad, he bought it knowing how much we loved it and then he drove to work. By the time he got off work someone had broken into his car and took anything of value they could find which apparently included Super Mario Strikers. Good news is as a 24 year old man I have a GameCube and a copy of Super Mario Strikers that I still play fairly regularly especially while anticipating Battle League.

In the Wii strikers I LOVE doing a trick while I use Toad, Peach, or Diddy; I bassically get close enough to the net, then I jump, pass the ball to a teammate and score, IT NEVER FAILS

Think we should still wait before committing on the roster. It's unlikely that the characters shown will be the only ones.

While I will admit Charged took a lot of steps going forward with Mario Strikers, I still personally find Super Mario Strikers to ultimately be the better game because there are certain things about Charged that I straight up did not like. Wasn’t a fan of the charged ball mechanic, the stage gimmicks were absolutely broken and took way too much focus off of the gameplay, and the Super Strikes were done much better in the original and felt a lot more balanced. Using the Wii remote to block 6/6 shots never felt good to me. All that being said, I do absolutely loved how they handled the character differences, especially with the side ones. Those added so much to the game and were by far my favorite inclusion. I also loved how they even added new moves to every character’s arsenal too. I can see where people are coming from when they say they preferred Charged, but I’ve always found it to be too chaotic and overly-ambitious when compared to how perfect the gameplay was in Super. Had Charged scaled a few of its ideas back a bit, I could definitely see this being my preferred game.

Gosh darn it. When, I heard After burner playing in the background , You had me humming to the song since, I know the project diva version pretty well. An it's a shame Mario Strikers Battle League just didnt get the same love from Nintendo like Luigi's Mansion 3 .

It takes the dame premise from the tiny town adventures game on Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo..Tiny Toons had Soccer Basketball and Bowling and a few more games but was an amazing game with multiple sports in one cartridge.

You forgot about deaking* in ngc, when you would deke out your opponent with the Y button you would get a speed boost leading to a big scoring opportunity, you also left out the Super Bots that were unlocked in the bowser cup(final cup) which allowed everyone of them to be able to use the super strike 😭 making it really hard to beat them depending on if you were playing or professional/ legend and etc. I love these games to death and Charged was really good too im glad they added Diddy and all the others and the sidekicks weren’t just limited to being clones you could actually pair teammates together to better your chances on scoring depending on how you played. Also loved how intense these games got when you were playing the cups and unlocking new characters ❤️ can’t wait for the new one I really hope it doesn’t flop

I had a GameCube as a kid I played and loved Strikers but skipped the Wii Era(Strikers Charged).i had a 360 and PS3 I grew up life went on and now I will be playing the new version with my kids when it releases in June wicked awesome.

I don't remember the youtuber's video but I remember this: People LOVED Mario Strikers Charged, but Nintendo HATED it, because it was like too violent and off character for some of them. Next Level Games was already working on a new Mario Sport about volleyball mixed with catch fighting, but Nintendo stop the project... There's a high chance than even the gameplay looks good and the rooster will probably expand through free DLC, the game will be toned down heavely from his predecessors...

The Switch game hasn't a third of the personality of the originals.

Speaking of Mario sports, the only one I don't like is Mario Golf. The others, I like them all. I've played a lot of Mario Power Tennis on the Gamecube, both Mario Strikers and both Mario Baseball. So I would like to have a new Mario Baseball on the Switch.

My school use to do an event called the awakeover basically sleep over at the school but if you fell asleep everyone would draw on your face and they took out projectors and they let tou bring your game consoles and some games to play and I brought Mario strikers with my game cube only time I played it against someone that was not my sister or cousin and it was a blast

It feels like the BL teams won't have any individuality, which is what made the previous games so great. Star players were really the joy of the previous titles - that's what created the magical moments - the need to pass it to your star player and hope they can score the all-important goal. It put the emphasis on working on a strategy and it created variety in the matches and the opponents you faced. If the whole team is made up of star players it kind of negates the point in having them. This feels like it'll be the same match over and over, regardless of who you pick and who you'll face. I share your concerns that this will get way too repetitive way too quickly.

Mario is for me the best Mario’s sport game series too :))) but I really love the Mario golf and tennis 64! They were very special

To be honest I would have easily taken a strikers charged remake or remaster as long as it was better or at least the same. Battle league looks to be better than the og without daisy but not as good as charged.

I feel like the first Mario strikers for gamecube should be called Mario fotball. For me Mario strikers charged made the game into its own sport with the presentation and all were it really found its identidy. Now battle league goes back to basic being like the first game. I am afraid only people who liked the first game will enjoy this and those who love charged will feel like something is missing. Hopefully it is a great marriage of both games we're fans of the first game and charged can enjoy it.

Hey, good news. the animation in battle league (While not being as "Edgy" in charged) Is OOZING charm. DK is break dancing, wario is still amazing and so cartoonishly hilarious, EVEN TOAD! And waluigi is still the swave steal your chick evil man he's always has been.

About your "moving the slide to the d pad comment" They had to do that. The difference is that in charged, when you're on defence, you can intercept the ball with a pass/shoot during enemy passes (this wasn't in strikers original)

Watching strikers charged from wii gameplay and right after extract from the new one on switch is heartbreaking, look how slow they go, everything is smoothed out. I don’t get the fact that we play 8 main characters from the roster of 10, like… this game seems made for online, so am I supposed to confront same team as mine each time? Moreover, rpg stuff on a party game IS NOT FUN, in mario kart choosing just 3 items for a kart is taking so much time for casual players, they don’t know what they do. Now imagine picking 5 items for each 4 players on the same team… omg fuck this, I just want to play with my friends!

i will say that the little things that could be abused in strikers charged definitely made it annoying though. There was a strat I remember with boo where if you charged the ball to white and passed it to boo and then he would use his d pad move to teleport a little bit could get behind the goalie. Shit was disgusting... anyways thats how i beat the story mode on hardest difficulty. God i miss charged though brought back some good memories with that one

I wanna hear a follow up after the whole first strike thing. The item boxes actually made the whole screen feel cluttered, and the controls just feel... *weird*. I haven't actually seen the control menu in depth, but I noticed that sometimes I tackle when I meant to lob. Not too much of a fan of "perfect timing". I'd rather focus on, I dunno, charging it? But eh, no big deal. Not as big as strength being brutal to deal with.

The issue with battle league is that there's no sidekicks and funky mechanics like charged....

Even in the end when you brought up how you were worried about Nintendo losing the fire of the previous games and what made them awesome... The Mario Power Tennis from gamecube was lot of fun, it can get quite chaotic in a 2v2 and lot of special clutch when you think you’re about to lose. Best Mario Tennis game. The baseball game gamecube is better than the Wii one. Never enjoyed the golf games. Strikers are hands down the best. The Switch version seem slower pace, probably because the team aspect each player controlling one specific character. Gamexplain have an interview with an the game ex-director from the first two striker, is worth checking out.
