holymsophy same man. Played 1 and 2 so many times my eyes probably bled. But 3? After that ending I could never look at the series the same again. Plus EA locked 2/3rds of the game behind a pay wall (Omega, Leviathan), as well as From Ashes, which should have been a part of the base game/story, but wasn’t because of EA’s greed. Fuck EA. Dev. B? I would hardly call ME2 and 3’s combat better. The gunplay is better, but limiting all the abilities to a single cooldown is a big fail. The 1 thing ME:A got so right was having each ability have it’s own cooldown again. Guns having ammo does nothing interesting and the attachments pale in comparison to the insane amount of mods that are in Mass Effect 1.

I just finished the trilogy for the first time, damn those games are great, towards the end of the third game I felt such a connection with the crew that they almost felt like real people to me, friends that I had gotten to know throughout the trilogy, and at first I was sad that the journey was ending but after finishing the trilogy I did not feel the usual emptiness one might experience after completing a great game, instead I felt satisfied, yes the journey had ended, but the memories and moments i shared with those characters would last for a long time (this is me talking about the characters, not the main story itself just to be clear)

@MusicisLife8393 Oh yeah Garrus and Wrex were always my combo in ME1. They're the OG dream team. I love how much Wrex and Garrus contrast each other in so many ways. In ME2 I always brought Garrus and Jacob. Not a big fan of Jacob but I like him better than Miranda. I always always bring Garrus with me, and the other character that I choose is always heavily involved in the main storyline. That's mostly why I never pick Tali. She's alright but she and the Quarians are kind of irrelevant imo, they're always minding their own business when they aren't involved with the Geth.

When I first played 2 after completing 1, having saved the Rachni, Council, and Ashley, I expected the sequel to have my old crew backing me up, recruiting new faces and grieving the one we lost.. Then the intro happened and I end up on a replica Normandy with two Cerberus agents I trusted about as far as I could throw. Meeting Liara, Wrex, and Ash only to find they wouldn’t rejoin me so I would have a trustworthy face was heartbreaking. You can bet the moment I found Garrus, I clinged to him as the one trustworthy person on board besides Joker and Dr. Chakwas. The one person I knew would follow me into battle with no ulterior motives. Once I rescued Tali, I kept both of them as close as possible. The other crewmembers grew on me, though it took most of the game for me to trust Miranda. Now? I see them as pretty trustworthy once I tell the Illusive Man to leave me and my ship alone, but god, during the early hours of the game, I would not run into battle or go *anywhere* without the faithful 2 by my side.

Falcon, brah. The name Mass effect may have some other origins as you stated in this video but its generally accepted that it refers to the mass relays being able to change the "mass" of any given object with element zero in it, its refering to the technologys literal "effect" on the mass, which then enables faster than light travel as your mass is reduced to zero and hypothetically stops interacting with photons.

Mass Effect fields are also the reason the crew doesn't just die every time the Mako does a flip or two (or a dozen).

Yes but in a limited fashion, the logic being that the mako's drive only has enough power to reduce some of its mass and only temporarily which is supposed to explain why it drives like a tonka truck despite being a multiple ton vehicle.

I had never heard of Mass Effect until I noticed an ad for it in an old gameinformer. All I knew at the time was Bioware developed it, and I grew up with Star Wars Kotor and Jade Empire. To this day Mass Effect is the last game that truly left me in awe.

Mass effect 1 was one of the first times I trully fell in love with the cast of characters in a video game. Wrex was amazing. Garrus was your bro, Tali was super cute, and on and on. The combat never got in the way, but it wasn't why people played mass effect. The world, the characters, the story all of those were highlights. ME2 took everything 1 did and made it better. I still wish they had taken the systems that made everything you did in 2 matter for the final battle and did that on a galactic scale for the end of 3. ME3 was a fantastic ride until the last 10 min. Anyone with a soul cried for mordin. Overall mass effect was an amazing trilogy. And the first game was the perfect foundation for it all.

During quarantine I was looking for a game to play so I chose mass effect honestly the best thing to happen to me this year
@BallinButAtWhatCost7253 жыл бұрын
I bought the whole trilogy last year to pass time during quarantine after my ps4 broke, best decision I’ve ever made when it came to games. Previously I’d only really played Mass Effect 3, I absolutely adored the game and the world it was in, it was in my top 10 games of all time even. So on a whim I decided to try out the rest of the Mass Effect trilogy and oh my god I loved it. Mass Effect 1 wasn’t my favorite, it was kinda slow and took quite a bit of effort to push through, but that effort made me more invested in the characters and story. But Mass Effect 2? I’d say that’s my favorite game of all time, the characters, the story, the decisions you make, I didn’t want Mass Effect 2 to end, but it did, and I’ve never felt so many emotions for a game before in my life. I started Mass Effect 3 but it just wasn’t the same, and I stopped playing after the Cerberus coup. Now I’m back playing 1 again, my ps3 broke and with it went my save files, but I love Mass Effect so much, even 1 and 3, that I’ll put all that time into it again. Infact I found this video looking for good background music while I’m playing. Sorry about the random rant but your story reminded me so much of mine that I just wanted to share.

"the journey, not the destination" YES! A thousand times, this! I absolutely understand why people didn't like Mass Effect 3's ending, and they're not wrong. But I enjoyed the journey that got me there. Yes, there's no doubt that a story's ending is one of the most important parts, but the poorly done ending of this franchise didn't ruin the whole thing for me. It's still my favorite game of all time.

Mass effect one combat was good because of the way it played out, it wasn't the center of the game and drew your curiousity to the deep story they had going and followed the atmosphere well. Mass effect 2 combat was a large improvement and really set the stage for Shepard and how intense him and his squad can be. Mass effect 3 combat went balls to the walls crazy to really fill in what was needed to emphasize the importance of the plot and the impending doom. Really kept you on the edge of your seat. i would just play Andromeda first as a "prequel" you just happen to head to Andromeda (pretend the reapers never even came and we are out there for whatever reason) beat it and then treat the first mass effect as the second one. the only things i truly like about Andromeda is being able to just be in this universe again even if its lack luster. the most gorgeous of the games but the worst in terms of story. just wish they put more tlc into the characters and character development at least! even with the shitty ending (which i never got to, just heard it was shitty but i feel like i was close to beating it but then i got bored after about 40 hours of gameplay.)

For me Mass Effect was the closest I ever got to playing a Star Trek simulator. Which is probably the #1 game I've always wanted. You know something that is the Sims + Mass Effect + Sea of Thieves or something like that. I was excited to play Andromeda but the fact that I have yet to beat it proves that it lacks the draw that the original had. Perhaps if EA had continued to work on it post launch it would have one day lived up to it's potential but they chose to abandon it which bodes very badly for the franchise as a whole.

I got into the series fairly recently while I was looking for a new game to play in general. Mass Effect 2 was free on Origin maybe 3 years ago and I mentioned it to a few coworkers who told me it was a trilogy and I'd enjoy it more that way than by itself. I took their advice and signed up for Origin Access and got to play all 3. I loved the game for it's story, the relationships that I formed with friends and lovers, and that my decisions had consequences that followed my Shepard through every game. I loved the journey even though the ending could have been done better. I added mods for the ending so it would be more like I envisioned. Andromeda had many faults but the combat was awesome, even if the story wasn't as good as the original. I can't wait to see what the next Mass Effect brings.

I don't think it's going to be made, or if it is, it's going to be Mass Effect in name only. EA, Bioware's publisher, has been strangling the life out of the developers, almost everyone who worked on the original trilogy isn't even with them anymore.

Garrus, for example and easily my favorite character, has a lot of depth that you may or may not uncover based on how you interact with him. Its just great. He would do a renegade run then I would do a paragon run watching the other play it. As the games went on it was our way of exploring the world and when 3 came out with the multiplayer element which affect the story my brother bought me a copy of my own and we played it together so that we could get the best results for each of our runs. We made a promise not to watch the finale so that it wouldn't get spoiled and I remember hearing my brother swearing at the computer through the wall when he got to the end. I remember him telling me to save it when I got to a certain point which I did thankfully as when I got to the final choice my instant reaction was to shoot the starchild. My brother was always a Vanguard I would be the engineer sniper. Such a good series. Wish the ending resolved better than it did but it was still good. Sucks that andromeda was shit
