Even women believe everything they see on instagram sometimes, it’s crazy. I had a coworker who showed me a pic of a skinny girl with super defined abs and a curvy waist that was obviously unnatural and she told me she wanted to be like that. When I told her it was photoshopped she didn’t want to believe me lol.

I don't wear makeup generally speaking. Maybe a few times a year. Honestly because it's expensive. I used to get asked out in high school every now and then, I don't anymore cause I gotta ring on it! I've got acne too. I don't understand what the hype is. Makeup makes me feel like I'm wearing a cake on my face. Looks pretty on other people though, I appreciate the art of it all, wish I could do it right lawl. Only got it if you practice it right? I agree. The point of the interview wasn't what men expect women to look like. The point of the interview was to make women more aware of what they're doing to their bodies just for the pleasure of the male gaze. If a man doesn't like the way that you look naturally, he's not worth your time. And this is coming from someone who truly never wears makeup. I didn't even own makeup to wear to my sister's wedding. She had to give me some face cream and powder to put on that's all I was willing to do. I'm also 35 years old and I still get carded and have people tell me I look like I'm 18. Because my skin is healthy. Because I never bombarded it with makeup or tanning products or sunlight. I'm not trying to say that I wasn't naturally blessed with good looks. I never would have been willing to say that growing up, but I now have the confidence to believe that. But part of that confidence actually comes from accepting all my flaws and refusing to be embarrassed by them or try to cover them up! Also, the girl in this video is a bad example because she's really effing beautiful even without any makeup! More beautiful than me! And I just got finished bragging about how confident I am in my own beauty! 😂

@@EamonWill I personally think every girl is beautiful, with and without makeup. But there are many reasons girls and guys will use makeup. Maybe for fun or they just like practicing on their skills, but some people just use it because they are insecure. I think all of those are okay, even if I think makeup shouldn’t be to cover up anything on your face. But it helps people feel good, and to me, that’s all I would want. This is just my opinion, once again

@@EamonWill It's not even that, it was just the pure hypocrisy of what she was saying in the interview. "I never wear make up, I don't like it, etc" when she was very clearly wearing eyeliner and mascara. She was trying to act like she was better than other people and encourage them to be like her when she wasn't even telling the truth. Yes people should feel confident without makeup, but makeup is not inherently a bad thing. People will wear it because they like how it looks, they want to accent certain parts of themselves, they use it as an expression of art. It can be a lot more than just a way to cover up insecurities. I rarely wear makeup, but when I do its me experimenting with colors, design, and what I like for fun

But I refuse to be a pathetic pick me and hate on women who do. I LOVE watching people wear makeup. & its so fun to get glammed up on nights out. Grateful to the youtube gals for teaching me! My husband knows the difference between natural look and completely makeup free. One of the first times he said “Are you sure you want to leave the house without makeup?” society tells me that I should have been insulted, but I was actually so relieved. Not only does he acknowledge that makeup makes my skin less blotchy, but he knew my “natural” makeup was actually foundation, a little bit of blush, lipgloss, and mascara (without me telling him.) Unlike this one guy I stayed friends with after we broke up, and he was going on and on and on about how beautiful this new girl he was dating was without any makeup. I was like “That’s weird, every time I’ve seen her she’s wearing makeup.” Then I realized he thought that she was makeup free. Lol

So, the girl in the video, well the audio of the girl in that particular audio clip, was in one of those toxic masculinity bros whatever they call themselves podcast, i think, and 'coincidentally', the topic of makeup popped up and you know how undecided most guys feel on makeup. So, that girl started putting down other women that wear makeup, not necessarily insulting them, but as you listen to this audio clip, it was insinuating that wearing makeup might be girls doing too much and not needed because 'you're so pretty without makeup😍🥺', which is a common guy 'compliment', or thought to be compliment. And the guys were EATING UP what she was saying and agreeing and someone said 'who are you' which i found very funny because it's like he's saying 'who is this girl that's not like other girls😫😝' 'she's so different. She gets me, US😫', and i found that very funny😭😭

I get that some people like natural beauty, and against makeup but makeup can make people feel more comfortable and confident. I always tell my mom “why do you wear so much makeup?” She answered with “Makeup makes me feel comfortable and I like it” I know that was not much of a quote only because I asked that a long time ago so I don’t really remember. Makeup can help with depression, embarrassment, and more. I am insecure about some parts of my face so I use makeup. It makes me feel confident, ready, and honestly hot 😂 I love that you want more natural beauty but there might be a deeper story down in their heart. This is so true. Like me personnally I do not wear makeup because I suck at applying it and feel awkward wearing it. But does that mean I go around proclaiming that girls who wear makeup "care less about their skin and the ingredients in it?" Hell no. @Speedsterallen07 maybe it's because of the unrealistic beauty standards that have been set in place by men for women that consists of women needing to undergo surgery and get makeup in order to get an ounce of respect from men and to feel beautiful based on male validation, could also be whenever men say they like no makeup ask them to pull up a pic they most likely will pull up a women with makeup. And correction men want a women with no make-up who looks like she has makeup* Fat girls, girls with acne, girls with naturally bushy eyebrows, girls who have big noses, girls who have eyebags are all natural yet so many men don't find them beautiful.

This is sadly true. I don't wear heavy makeup; I always go for the "natural" look. I went to work without makeup one day. A man who always goes around saying how he thinks women should celebrate their natural beauty saw me and the first thing he did was loudly say to me (several times), "Oh my God, are you sick? Are you feeling ok? What's wrong with you?" The next day i came to work makeup, and he said, "Oh, thank God; you look so much better."

I've had that too. A job at a university in London I used to have. Just because I wore no makeup he told me that I looked really tired and ill mainly because I had no eye makeup at all so he thought my eyes looked strange. When I wore makeup again he told me he was glad I was 'feeling better'. They have no idea what this does to our self esteem that we even associate makeup with good mental health and that going bare faced means you have bad mental health and failing in self care and presentation.

Same. I generally only use lip glosses and lip balms as my make up. Usually, just Burt’s Bees and Carmex, 😂 For special occasions, I’ll use some under eye brightener and mascara, but cleaning it all off is such a hassle. I’ve never liked the feel of foundation on my face; it feels like I have a dirt mask on my face lol. My skin likes to breathe, and it’s quite sensitive so I was never able to find my color in any foundation anyways. I think I’d only bother for, like, my own wedding (not in my immediate plans but never say never). Or my own graduation, when I get a Master’s degree. Definitely for a ph. D.

I’m a cosmetic biochemist. The skin is selectively permeable (meaning it won’t just absorb anything you put on it, that’s why your skin doesn’t fall apart when it gets wet). Ingredients in makeup might seem scary if you’re not familiar w chemistry, but they’re perfectly safe. Just make sure you’re washing your makeup off well using an oil cleanser or double cleanse to prevent pore clogging from the makeup sitting on top of the skin. If makeup helps boost your confidence, use it 🖤 to each their own Edit: Obv I’m only referring to makeup that contains regulated ingredients, like what you would find at Walmart/Target, Sephora, Ulta, etc. I’m not referring to makeup that may have been hazardously produced (like from wish/aliexpress or other non reputable cosmetic dealers) & this doesn’t mean that people won’t possibly have a reaction to something in the makeup, but that’s a highly complex topic. Overall, the ingredients used in (regulated) cosmetics are generally recognized as safe & there are set concentrations of what can be used. This comes after extensive research on parabens in the lab. I love how my boyfriend couldn't care less if I wear makeup or not and when I do wear makeup heavy or not he compliments my artistry. He compliments me even when my hair is greasy and have paint everywhere on my hands. Good men just like you for being you

I work in health and was on a Zoom call without makeup, and one of the psychiatrists commented that I looked tired, and asked if I was ok. I just replied - no this is my actual face without makeup, to which he went 'oh...ok....'.

Was this psychiatrist someone who you know that sees you all the time usually with makeup on? I keep seeing comments like this. I'm 40 and haven't worn a single bit of makeup in 20 yrs. Literally not one single person I know now has ever seen me wear anything other than chapstick. I have never once been asked if I was tired or told I look sick or anything like that. If someone is always wearing makeup, especially full coverage then people are only seeing them with "perfect" looking skin so when they don't wear it, I think it's reasonable for them to assume something may be wrong because they look different. There's so many people these days that wear a ton of makeup and look like a completely different person with out it. I mean its not surprising too me that people would get confused when they don't wear it.

@@Xessa82 But grown men should be aware that women look different with and without make up. They should know what a natural woman's face looks like. Regardless, it's kind of rude to tell someone they look tired, especially in a group setting. There was no reason for it. I would expect a psychiatrist to be a bit more socially aware and not so lacking in discretion when it comes to such things.

@@katiegraham8484 I recommend slowly and gradually toning it down. Use a little less blush, mascara or eye liner than you are now, for a few weeks. Then use even less. Then one day you can use none, and it won't be a shock. Especially if you wear cute outfits and do your hair nicely, then people won't even notice or remember how much make up you used to wear. And you'll be very comfortable going out the door with none on, or at least very little. This is what I did and it worked out. I never thought I could leave the house with so little and feel as confident as I did before.

NOT TO MENTION, make up, doesn’t necessarily negatively impact your skin. The way you take care of your skin, prep your skin, and remove make up or all factors. But most, if not all cosmetics nowadays, have some form of skin care inside the ingredients list of the product. They are supposed to give minimal benefits, such as sun, protection, moisture, etc. This lady don’t know what she’s talking about 😂 and should also let women live how they want and wear however much or little makeup they please

I love wearing makeup tho! Like i will literally put on makeup everyday even if im just staying inside and not gonna see anyone. Its part of my routine and makes me feel like i did something even if im just chilling. It also makes me confident so i dont see any problem with wearing makeup or liking makeup at all
