Back in the 70's they sold puffed millet, I could put some bags in the car with spring water, and drive without any fast food smells for days. I only quit buying what I didn't see anymore. A bed in my car Independence Pass. Chipmunks would get in the car and eat my avocados Maroon Bells, Avocado and puffed millet, I ate simple then. Nice bag of navels, dried fruit and nuts. Its a simple grain, but eating Puffed millet is a simple life if you care to avoid details. I was traveling with a friend who didn't like puffed millet and had to stop at KFC and have chicken in the car with mashed potatoes and gravy. I quit driving by those places. Feasting is disrespect to your body and all healthy sensibility. a detoxing staple for easy traveling.

I appreciate the recommendation to soak the millet with a squeeze of lemon juice for 30 minutes, and then strain. Look forward to trying this soon. I will share my experience with millet over the last year. I did not pre soak it. It is a very hardy grain. I found it taking 45+ minutes to get to a smooth creamy consistency. To get there I was using 4 to 6 times the volume of grain of water. I use millett with beans because I believe that it is supposed to be an important co-factor. I eat beans more than once a week. Often most every day. What I found that helped me a great deal with controlling the consistency and reducing cook time was to use a large saucier pan. It has curved sides that allow much direct heat over a greater area than a pan with vertical sides. Most weeks it saves me hours in the kitchen. Again thank you for your informative nutritional guidance! Erik

My son married a young lady from Korea. They stayed with me for a short while and she immediately brought out her rice cooker. That has been years ago and I have cooked grains in the rice cooker ever since. Millet is no exception! it cooks it to any consistency that you want in about 20-35 minutes. I found that a rice cooker is not very expensive and it last for years and years. Eric, I ditto your thanks for the tip on pre-soaking with lemon juice. I’ll have to try that. Have a millet kind of day!
