Marisa, thank you so so soooo much for making these videos. I really believe God led me to your channel. I am very inspired by your dedication and hard work to your family, what a service of love. I’m researching GAPS now because I believe my family definitely needs this to heal…my husband has the most health issues, then I have a 5 year old son, a 3 year old daughter, and a 5 month old daughter. I look forward to starting baby GAPS with my youngest, starting Full GAPS for myself since I’m nursing my youngest, and doing the intro GAPS for my husband and older two children. I’m trying not to feel overwhelmed by it all…we are foodies in the sense we like to eat all cultures of food and many family gatherings are all about food. This will be a big adjustment for us. I know my family will give us a tremendously hard time because they have with us just keeping candies away from my older kids, even sneaking them things because we are “too strict“ as parents etc. I’m hoping I can be stronger than the guilt trips that will be placed upon me…that my kids are “missing out” because I know I’ll get an ear full. Oh well. This is where you inspire me, you stick with it no matter what challenges might take place and that encourages me. So, thank you for sharing all you do. I’m hoping to start in about a month, because I have so much preparation to do. Thank you again Marisa!!!

Is the meat stock just for babies, or do you choose to consume meat stock over bone broth as well. And also just wondering your opinion but do you trust the Kirkland brand for organic things as I have seen it but I have been skeptical of it as it isn’t the hardest to put that label on things now a days it seems.

Hi! I’m on GAPs to heal my autoimmunity. Meat stock has more nutrients and is gentler on your gut lining - specifically, in repairing the villi. Making your own is ideal, always. Store bought stocks have preservatives and starch or sugar alternatives which are bad for the gut and feed gram negative bacteria. Just toss a whole chicken in a steel stock pot with water filled up to where water won’t boil over, a tablespoon of high quality mineral salt, bring to a boil, then let simmer for no more than 90 minutes.

Why does he get a plain pat of butter? Just curious what are the benefits of eating it that way? Why not just cook the eggs in butter and count that as the butter portion? I know I personally wouldn’t want to just take a bite of butter that way. I prefer it in bread (which I know he can’t have) or on vegetables

My nephew loves raw cold butter, he eats it like a slice of cheese. I will eat it myself now like this and it’s good! I prefer to do this if I’m super hungry and want a quick healthy snack, rather than eat something with grain/carbs, fat takes the edge off much better. It does freak folk out though!

You mentioned that there were subtle differences in WAP and GAPS diets for kids, can I ask what do you mean? What differences did you notice? What happens when you feed young toddlers fermented grains? I see a lot of homesteaders make einkorn and sourdough for kids, so just curious why it's so bad?
@BumblebeeApothecary
@BumblebeeApothecary Жыл бұрын
Great question! The main difference between the two is that WAPF introduces starches very early, and GAPS waits until much later. There are plenty of GAPS friendly ways to include carbs that don't include starches. Starches feed pathogens, and when kids are so young and are developing so rapidly, I like to err on the side of caution because I know my own and my husband's past health issues, and I want to give our kids the best chance at good health that I can. I believe that 10-20 years ago and earlier WAPF was a great way to start babies, but the world is sicker now, sadly. More and more babies and kids have chronic health issues than ever before. I think that if the parents and babies have very healthy gut flora, the properly prepared grains are fine. With our particular family, with our health history, I prefer to wait as long as possible, to make sure they're really ready and that early development isn't hindered by pathogens being fed grains and starches. Hope this helps :)

Is there a reason why you nurse only 18 months. Everywhere I read it says the longer they nurse the better. Not judging, just curious. All of this way of eating is new to me. Just trying to learn as much as I can. Thank you!

It just feels right. They naturally start to be less interested, and my body just feels ready to be done. Hope that makes sense. It's a very individual choice and I think everybody has to decide what feels right for them and their baby :)

@BumblebeeApothecary

My oldest still eats quite well, but I've noticed she tends to be a bit more interested in carbs and starches, and my other three kids (who started with GAPS and only had grains and starches later) aren't so interested in carbs and starches and naturally prefer meat, vegetables, lots of fat, etc. Just something I've noticed :)
