Yeh.. you’re overlooking several aspects here. If you’re attempting to imagine living like that though not factoring in that your fresh air days are over. Rest of your life, breathing recycled air. Would bug me, not to mention all the new procedure. Would be a hassle to do literally anything. Lunch, bathroom, got an itch on your nose or anywhere for that matter? Decompression chamber 2 hour walk back.. that brings us to the sheer nothingness, y’all can have mars. Life’s boring & dangerous enough already right here. No sense raising those odds

NASA knows a lot more. I’m sure they sent drones and rovers to the rest of the planets already or still getting there. Mars probably has some caves and tunnels indefinitely, what if Mars was like the Greenland/Iceland concept? The looks on the surface is baron and dead but maybe underneath is full of life and water.

This mission may answer some of the biggest questions mankind has ever asked, and the general populace just sees “a barren wasteland and lifeless dirt”. You are not the problem. The problem is that so many people think like that when they should be joining me in complete wonder. I put the probability that Elon Musk gets astronauts on Mars before NASA gets it's sample return mission there at greater than 50%. Not to take anything from NASA's amazing robotic accomplishments on Mars - and all the other planets. Truly the strength of NASA! Elon Musk is already mostly self funding and developing the technology to get there, and doesn't have to rely on fickle politicians.

Basically, it’s a pretty challenging proposition because you need to carry enough fuel on your lander to be able to takeoff again from the surface. We were able to bring back samples from the moon because the moon’s gravity well is that much smaller.
