It's universally recognized that an open fast break 3 from Steph is the equivalent to a layup. That's insane just to think about

True. So much so that guys like KD even got open layups because they didn't want to leave steph alone at the 3pt line. That's insane when you think about it. Warriors players were getting fast break layups with no one trying to guard them...because the opposition didn't want to leave steph open for that 3 😅

It’s because of his size, all the goats are bigger and can post up and play above the rim. That’s the standard that’s always been used in the past. They’ve never seen anyone do what Steph has done. All the other greats are just better versions of what has come before, Steph revolutionized the game…

The league is smaller now, it's full of pussies. If Reggie Miller played in a league with tiny fairy like men, he would of destroyed Curry. The league in the 80's and 90's was much larger and because of that there would of, on average, been much taller men protecting the perimeter. Curry is a good shooter, but he's a pos.

Yes, he is. Magic was great too, but if I have to choose between Magic and Steph in my team, I have not doubt, I choose Steph. And there is a missconception about stats and good players. Stats (present stats at least) are no representative of greatness. Some players have a lot of triple-doubles, and that doesnt means they r great. Not from the team point of view. A good example is Westbrook. Bad player for the team and Mr Triple-double at same time. When u want to fill stats, u r damaging the team; other players get cold, lose motivation, lose focus. Steph and Manu are the greatest examples of what u have to do (and to not do) to be the Most Valuable Players for the Team. Most people doesnt understand that... but... u know... check the rings...

One reason why I overlooked Curry as a top 5-10 because his defense was average in his best years - and I can't name one elite player whose defense didn't start to slip in their 30s. They just don't have the same motor. But he's done it, and that moves him way up the list for me. He's a plus defender now without a doubt.

Curry's impact on the game is such that it made future generations of players realize that they could play basketball without having to be athletically gifted.
@bartomiej9807
@bartomiej9807 3 ай бұрын
That is so untrue. On basic level you could play without being athletically gifted. Always, you didn't need Curry to prove that. And I call it untrue because Curry is very athletically gifted. His speed, coordination, his lateral strength are all athletic feats. When you don't have 40 inch vertical it doesn't mean you are not athletically gifted. And in other categories he is also gifted, maybe in not so obvious level, but over average of course. After his early injuries he worked hard to strenghen himself and it paid off. His later injuries (like broken hand) are bad luck, not being fragile as a player..
@Xylord79
@Xylord79 3 ай бұрын
@@bartomiej9807I didn't say Curry wasn't athletic, he is. But he's not anything close to the freak of nature athletes that come into the league. Like it or not, his shooting did have an impact on the game and aspiring future players. The finesse and fluidity he plays with, as well as the ridiculous accurate shooting is not something the game has seen before. So no, it's not untrue dude...

Curry is undoubtedly the greatest shooter ever and helped usher in a change to how the game is played. But a true "point guard" is more about creating shots for others. Over his career, Curry only averages about 6 assists per game, which is about the same as Draymond Green. Curry often guards PGs because of his size but is more of a SG on offense.

Man, take a chill pill, being point guard is also creating chances for others right? That guy can make it without toching ball, find me another, nba player, which is constantly, and mostly covered by two, sometimes 3 people, u know who? Nobody, because, this guy, if he leave him open, he smash u with threes, sorry. During training, that alien put over 100 threes in row, can u imagine? This guy let many children dream, that height is not everytihng in basketball, nobody, before steph. If he would be picked, by for example miami heat, and play for example with lebron james, propably, they would dominate the league, totally, and even great spurs would not be enough for them, xD

Absolutrly a huge Curry fan and will go down as one the greatest of all time. For me a top 5 for sure, "but", magic is still better as a great player is more than just a great shooter and scorer. i feel a great player is not just a great shooter but one who makes all the other players on his team better. Sure steph checks those two boxes two but needs to add to his resume. more championships, more MVPs, more triple doubles. You have to ask the real question, what aspects make a gret player ? Magics passing and assists go a long way for me. Magic had a all around great game. He had it all. Along with Bird my two favorite players of all time. The one I struggle with is who of those two is the greatest ? i want to say Magic and have for ever, and im biased cause i was a Laker fan and hated the Celtcs but cherish their rivalry. But i cannot deny how great Bird was. He had the complete game as well, and was a better shooter. A fun debate for sure.

people want to give best ever to someone who is more o an all- arounder, like MJ and Lebron, who can slam it don and also shoot. I find this quite frustrating. If you have the greatest players of all time play against each other 5v5, if you want the best threat possible from the 3, you absolutely need Steph Curry, period. Want a good all arounder? You get Mj, but you could switch him up for Kobe. Many would argue Kobe isn't quite as good, and that's true, but in a 5v5 game Kobe can fill his general role, and everyone knows Kobe on one of his hot streaks putting up over 80 points can match the offensive presence of MJ. Or you could get Lebron and most will agree he isn't as good as MJ, but he's also taller and can help fullfill other roles, example- he's a better rebounder You simply cannot replace Steph Curry in terms of his outside striking ability. It also matters less than in my other examples if the replacement has other good attributes such as rebounding, etc. Why? Because the 3 pointer is so important. That's the reason that the game changed as discussed in the video. What's more valuable? A player who is good all around, or having players who specialize in certain areas? If you have tons of shooting ability on the team already, Do you really need dirk Nowitzki when you could have Wilt Chamberlain or Shaq grabbing rebounds all day and dominating below the basket? IMO, the best team you could possibly make is going to have Wilt down low, Curry striking from afar, and each other pick will be very complicated and depend on exactly what they bring and what play style they will agree to, but the tem would need the extreme plyers who dominate their area of play, and no player does that the way Steph does. I fail to see how he is not the goat just because he has no dunk highlights.

Steph Curry is a better player than Magic Johnson. Magic Johnson however is the better PG. In terms of what a PG should do in the game, Jordan is correct, Magic basically defined it. On the other hand, Curry’s impact to the game is just something else. Being the best shooter ever in history means Curry can play a game that nobody else can. People sometimes get it wrong. You can tell a tall guy to play like Magic. You cannot tell anyone to shoot like Curry.

it's not steph it's; steph and Klay with Kerr as the coach. Pistol Pete, Jerry West, Larry Bird, one way shooters could always be accounted for, but 2 with a scheme to center on those 2 instead of the center or power forward for the easy 2..... that's a completely new style. it's like the triangle offense arced around the 3 point line. add top that the bulking up of modern NBA players to be shaq making them control the interior, the natural progression would be to avoid the paint altogether. eventually, it'll go back to the 7 foot lithe athletic centers like in the 60s when someone realizes the sky hook is a thing.

I dunno why all the haters and Laker/magic fans are so uptight about Stephen. he's like almost a foot shorter than magic yet he's dominating on court and is a threat anywhere on the floor. he's shorter, weaker, not as explosive, no length, no crazy hops, and weaker than majority of NBA players. lets see magic or any NBA player dominate at a short size. only player that comes close is Nash.

Stephen Curry does not play defense. He has changed the game but not for the better. People are no longer watching NBA basketball because it’s boring with little defense.

Jerry west and Oscar Robertson were better shooter in league that actually played defense which doesn’t exist anymore

the game has changed and not necessarily for the better. The 3 points removes contact and athleticism. Spectacular play like the Dr J, the Gervins, MJs, and every high flyer which were always physically contested. It may be time to retire the 3 pts or give more value to contested in the paint baskets. to my mind the game has grown more boring and 'dainty'.

I like steph curry , but he's not in the goat Conversation , yes he's the best shooter we have seen in league history, but goat players, the two players everybody talks about can carry a team by themselves like lebron , Mj Iverson , bron went to the nba finals before he had kyrie, and mj lost to the pistons in the eastern finals before he had pippen, personally I had all ways thought that Klay thompson was the most all around player on that team, curry could not hold the kwai leonard, kobe , paul george , Klay had to hold those dudes lol , not hating on step He's a generation player but when it all balls down defense wins championships !!
