In Part 4 of my “What Next After Entry Level Boots” series, I’m now looking at boots that look like Americana heritage Pacific North West outdoor boots.

Who Am I?
I am a Management Consultant in real life but in my Bootlosophy channel, I make videos about boots and all things boot related. This channel posts reviews of boots, unboxing of new boots, and follow-up reviews, and in doing so, may explore the philosophy of the brands and makers as well as the collectors!
In this channel, I will give information found in my research about the brand, the construction, and the materials, but I will express my personal opinions about how I feel about the boots reviewed.
Full Disclosure
If any video is sponsored, I will declare it clearly in the video and in the description. Even if a video is sponsored, I will review the product openly and honestly giving you my personal opinion, warts and all, of the product.

Love the step back and discussion for a broader audience. As someone who’s owned a lot of shoes and boots, thinking about shoes in the mid 5s as a starting point is nothing new, and I’ve sometimes struggled to come up with a widely available alternative for less money as a next step after the intro phase. It’s gotten even harder the last couple of years as prices have gone up across the board. Well done.

Remember, Teik is going to cast a mind control spell on you that makes you buy multiple expensive boots. I imagine after a few years, we're going to have a bunch of people running around as many boots as episodes that Teik puts out. They'll point at each other and go "NOT YOU TOO!"

If I may, I’d like to make a couple of other suggestions: Frank’s Patriots, Drew’s Logger, and JK 300s. The only ones I own are the Frank’s Patriot, but they are 99% of a $550-$600 PNW logger. In other words, 7-8 oz Seidel uppers, Vibram V100 sole, insane amounts of veg tan in the sole, stitch down with clinch nails, etc. Many have theorized that Frank is selling them as a loss leader to gain goodwill with an expanded customer base. The Drew’s have been touted as 100% a PNW logger, but made in Leon, Mexico. I almost bought the Drew’s, but they were MTO and the Patriots were in stock, so my impatience made the decision for me. JK 300s are a slight compromise boot. Still very durable, as I have heard, but not as much leather in the sole and slightly thinner uppers (5-6oz if I’m not mistaken). This may not be a bad thing if you don’t need the absolute pinnacle of durability, as these should be much easier to break in. They have wedge sole (the 300) and V100 sole (the 300 X) options, which is nice. JK seems to be a rising star in popularity, but Frank’s and Drew’s don’t seem to get the same publicity as White’s and Nicks so I like to highlight them too. Any of them make great boots, I would say pick the one that speaks to you and go with it.

Grant Stones are now a $400 boot, not mid $350's, have not been there for a while now. A few weeks ago they went from $380 to $395 usd and their leather laces are so bad now, just soft sponge like leather. I still pick them for dressy casual, but for the money I am getting more from my Trumans now. Crazy leather thickness and builds.

I've been eyeing GS for a while, especially that Diesel in dune but yes, definitely on the dressier side (which is fine). I'm waiting for those in brown double shot cap toe but not in stock.

This is a bothersome post while sharing things that are factually incorrect. That exact boot is $360 new on Grant Stone site, regularly and always in stock. The similar Field Boot in waxy commander/earth is on sale for $290 as well. Meanwhile all Truman’s are $480+ and he continues to post the majority of limited rotations over $500. I love both brand and they hardly compete, but your comments sticks out for seeming particularly unreasoned.

Teik, you should definitely check out Drew’s Boots, the ones made in Leon Mexico are in that mid-$300 price range. And those definitely have the look and seem built like PNW boots.

Your contents is satisfying to watch as always sir. I'm still waiting for my first Indonesian handcrafted boots from Akar NFYR, I buy Kakara plain round toe crazy horse leather boots with veldtschoen construction from AkarNFYR, because they makes their boots design looks unique and at 1.990k IDR or around $175 US price range , I hope it's worth as the reviews from the other customers

Hi mr Teik. I saw you unboxed and reviewed the Jim Green african ranger. Can you please unbox, try, and review the Barefoot African Ranger? Comparing it to the normal ranger? I think you'd be impressed because of the lack of toe stiffener and I would like to see your thoughts sometime soon

My cynical side says that no profession needs extremely heavy, overly complicated PNW work boots. The last time I saw any forestry workers in Scotland (come to think of it, EVERY time ) they seem to wear generic black steel toe cap boots, probably issued by their company. Construction workers are the same and also there was a recent trend for them to wear pull on engineer boots, usually covered in mud and cement. Anyway, maybe American workers are doing more rugged things and we wouldn't have any of these boots if it wasn't for them. Thanks for your reviews.

Here in Australia, miners wear light weight, goretex and fabric steel toe, cement construction boots! Our builders wear Blundstones, steel or soft toe, depending on trade.
@UnknownUser-rb9pd
@UnknownUser-rb9pd 4 ай бұрын
@@Bootlosophy Yes, a quick search through the workwear companies suggests the synthetic, lightweight boots with steel toe, sometimes protective padding and relevant safety sole (oil anti-slip, acid resistance, electrical safety, heat resistant etc ) are now what are on offer. Usually black. Your Chelsea work boots are very Australian though. I have to admit until a couple of years ago I had never heard of Blundstones and was only vaguely aware of RM Williams and it is only recently that I have seen anybody wear chelsea boots in the street in Scotland as they have gained popularity recently. Still mainly worn by women but you see the occasional pair worn by men if you go to the smarter areas (definitely not working class footwear here).

The issue with China is not second rate products, it's rewarding sweatshop labor and a low standard of living with our dollar. I use my dollar as a voting ballot to reward ethical treatment as best I can because that's how I want to be treated.
@Bootlosophy
@Bootlosophy 4 ай бұрын
I see. But I think the days of sweat shop labour in “high end” industries in China are over because the regime is losing its war against inflation and sweat shop rates have moved to places like Burma. Many electronic and boot factories in China are now privately owned by Taiwanese families. Also many handmade boot makers (not GS) are one man bands working on their own.
@ike780
@ike780 4 ай бұрын
@Bootlosophy I do hope you're right. I saw a documentary that was recent about sweatshop workers in China where a mother and daughter lived in a steel cage cubicle with a bed and TV. That was where the mother had to leave her child while she worked 12 or more hours a day. So I'm on the side of guilty until proven innocent when it comes to any country that has garnered a reputation against its own people.
