I worked when pregnant and needed maternity pants. I couldn’t show up everyday in leggings. I didn’t get many tops but did get maternity length t shirt and tanks so my stomach wasn’t hanging out. Under the belly maternity pants saved me before I was even showing because I had HG. The low front kept pressure off my abdomen.

This reminds me of my friend who was pregnant and I recommended the journaling and myself made the booklet/ album as a gift. I knew she might not finish it, but I was so happy when I saw her still using it after some months. I believe that she was able to do that entire writing because her husband was journaling with her, helping her write and document everything, and they'd shared some parts with me whenever I visited them. They also had shared some rough times when the guy's parents wanted a grandson but the baby was female in the ultrasounds. The baby sadly died a few hours after birth because his lungs were malformed (yes, we found out their baby was actually male at birth). My friend and her husband were very devastated for a few years, but they thanked me so much to have given them the journal because they still got to have meaningful time with the baby. We've had some deep talks over it, and I am very happy that they knew not to keep it like a sad memoir. Just last year, they asked me to make them a journal/album again, and I was so happy that they're on that path. Then I got confused when they asked me to redesign the cover fore an additional name insert and some of the pages to have double panels/ picture slots, it turns out they are going to have twins! They plan to name their kids with anagrams of our names combined, she's due in just a couple of months and we are very excited! I shared this story because I believe that journaling with the father gave them so much more value to the pregnancy journey and helped instill the fatherhood to her husband. If many more parents will do this, I think it will make the guy much more involved with the pregnancy and understand his position as a father. I think it also taught them so much about parenthood and being prepared, and they told me they are now more comfortable to be parents to their future children.

I show very early on (in the 3rd trimester of my 3rd pregnancy now) and I have to say, maternity clothes is a lifesaver for me. Especially so I can be in “normal looking clothes” at work as a teacher. Nothing crazy. Just the maternity denim shorts, jeans, leggings and now biker shorts are the bottoms I use and by month 4/5 I need to wear those stretchy maternity shirts. They are all very comfortable for me, if not, I wouldn’t have any bottoms to wear to work and during daily outings my entire pregnancies.

By three months I couldn't wear any of my pants anymore, and doing the hair rubber button trick wasn't comfortable. I absolutely invested in some maternity clothes. If you get a maternity gown, get one that opens for skin to skin and breastfeeding. Bonus, tuck it away in the back of your closet after you're done having babies and get it out when it's time to start getting mammograms. It's so much more comfortable than those harsh, scratchy hospital gowns they put you in. I think pregnant women should get what works for them. "These didn't work for me" or "I regret these purchases" and including why is great. "These are terrible/wasteful purchases for all pregnant women" isn't helpful.

People want to wear "regular" clothes, even if they'll only be worn for a few months. Wearing leggings and a t shirt can really damage some people's self esteem and so having a sense of normalcy by wearing maternity jeans and maternity blouses is great! Many people also have more than one kid so those maternity clothes will come in handy again! And people need more than 5 outfits for a few months, especially in this economy with many pregnant women having to work until they're VERY pregnant. And oh boy, the whole ginger thing. Nausea is already hard enough on pregnant women, do you think many women will want to drink a hot ginger tea over a ginger ale, something their parents probably gave to them as kids when they had tummy aches, to help with nausea? And the whole corn syrup thing is a bunch of fear mongering. A fizzy drink can help the stomach settle much more, its not just the ginger in it. Even the placebo effect of it can make it work. I don't normally comment on stuff like this but something about your energy rubs me the wrong way. You have a very holistic, natural vibe to you and it feels like you're a bit judgy of people who want to still dress in pretty robes during labor or cute maternity outfits. If its just your opinion, why title the video "what not to buy when pregnant"?

I definitely have to agree with Targets stock on maternity clothes! I could literally only find ONE single pair of pants in my size in ANY style at all! I had to buy black cargo jeans, and they are actually very uncomfortable. And I haven’t attempted maternity shopping since! Oversized tops and flowy dresses that I’ll wear again after the baby is born just makes more sense for me!

Clothes: Maternity leggings (i still use them 2 years post partum they are great 😂😂😂) are a must have, or if it's the summer theb maternity cycle shorts. Pair either with an oversized t shirt or jumper 👍🏼 Dont bother buying a nursing gown, you could end up in a c section wearing the clothes you came in! I agree to opt for button downs especially if planning to breastfeed

Actually I found the maternity pants to be really awesome for the postpartum period. I used them far more then since my third trimester was in the summer, so I wore dresses, but then I gave birth and still had a huge belly for several months and used the maternity pants all fall. The sort loose dresses I bought were not specifically for pregnancy and I still use them since they're super flowy and have pretty prints

Sizing up instead of maternity clothes wasn't an option for me, especially with pants. I have a very short torso, so baby had nowhere to go but straight out. Also, I got so much use of my delivery gowns. I didn't wear them while delivering, but afterward. Mine had snaps on the shoulder, which made easy access for nursing and pumping. Plus, you couldn't tell I was wearing an adult diaper under the gown.

Same. 😂. I'm 5ft tall, and out of my 5 children, the 2 biggest were 9lbs and 8lbs12oz. The rest were all 7lbs, various oz. And one of those 7 pounders (😂) would've been big like the other 2 if she had been full term. She was still 7lbs, 2 months premature. So. Yeahhhh. 😂😂😂. I totally understand where youre coming from! 🫶🫶🫶. Maternity clothes are a must for things like that.

I didn't show for most of my pregnancy's and my normal pants still fit but i was nauseous and sick from anything on my stomach. So I had to have the over the belly maternity pants. The higher the panel the better! I wore them a year after delivery because real pants were ao uncomfortable still. Plus maternity clothes can be worn for multiple pregnancy's and passed around similar sized friends and sisters. It may be an investment but its possible to get decent prices if you shop the sales and clearance.

I hate how this is like “don’t buy this”The pants are worth it, I’m not going to be wearing a dress and leggings only. They’re comfy and not too pricey. As for the ginger ale, it’s convenient and most people can’t handle the strong tea or want to hassle with real ginger. As for the delivery gown, idk I didn’t get one, but others might for pictures. It’s 2024 let’s stop telling people what to do. Also in the spirit of giving unsolicited advice, when you’re pregnant, everyone will give you unsolicited advice.

Ah yes, cause a nutritionally lacking sugar drink is so much better for you than making a diluted ginger and chamomile tea with honey.
@Amy-yq4lk3 ай бұрын
The problem with ginger ale is when people want the health benefits of ginger. Because there is zero ginger in ginger ale. “Convenience” is a completely worthless metric in that case.

@@audreydoyle5268 some people find tea disgusting. I am part of that group of people. If I’m ever sick and drink some tea, I can guarantee you I’ll get sicker. Not everyone’s body reacts the same. Also, just because it’s not highly nutritional, doesn’t mean it should be avoided at all cost. If it’s the only thing that actually works for someone, I’d definitely recommend them to have some. You can’t decide what your body tolerates or not.

I had a robe in the hospital. I was exhausted, and my now ex was no support. Worse yet, my ex father in law constantly shamed me for breast feeding while they visited or for falling asleep, or for my “state of undress” for wearing a robe and little else because nothing was comfortable. My mom literally helped me leave.

I loved my maternity clothes! During my first pregnancy, I didn't buy many pieces because I knew I wouldn't wear them for long after delivering. In my second pregnancy, I wore the maternity clothes I already had and bought a few mid-length dresses that weren't specifically for pregnancy. I kept wearing them for a few years after delivering; I just had them trimmed because they were too long without the baby bump.

So interesting! I’m pregnant with my 5th baby, and ONLY want to wear pregnancy clothing. I’m so uncomfortable when I try to wear clothes I already have and then have been iterated after I deliver, that I stretched clothing out that I loved! Generally, dresses have been my favorite items to wear during pregnancy because they are so flowy and don’t cling around my belly. They make me feel a little more put together, too, when I’m sort of feeling not the prettiest haha. I guess that’s just preference 🥰 100% agree on the ginger sodas. Ginger tea is the best! Really can help.

My belly got absolutely massive with all 3 pregnancies, those pants were a life saver, they provided support without hurting me. All the leggings dug into me and hurt or put so much pressure that i felt like i was gonna throw up. Dresses were a go to for me especially during the summer but always wore a pair of shorts that covered my thighs to prevent irritation. If you have a c section definitely pack dresses and underwear that outs absolutely zero pressure on you. I couldnt handle anything touching the surgery site. The robe is a must have!
