Here's one to avoid: If you're staying in an off-strip casino (e.g., Orleans), do NOT try to walk to the strip. It might look close because the buildings are huge, but it's a pretty long walk, you're out in the desert, and the non-strip streets are not all pedestrian-friendly. I did this one time to avoid a long line for the shuttle (and because I like walking). Huge mistake. I arrived at the strip sweaty, exhausted, and covered in dust. I had to sneak through a construction site and climb over a fence just to get to the strip without going an extra half-mile out of my way. Just wait for a shuttle or take a taxi, trust me.

We're local and when we returned back from vacation once, we had to cab over to the strip where we left our hotel in valet while on vacation (this was years ago), the cab driver took us the long way and the fare was like $30 something...we told him we were local and asked if there was a backup somewhere and why was our fare so high. He got all flustered and we told him sorry, no money for a tip due to the high fare. He quickly reduced it in half, so we did end up tipping him. Now we just Uber from home to the airport. Also, people, don't buy music CD's on the strip. My friend busted these guys a couple weeks ago selling blank cd's with writing on them for $20. He literally pulled out a portable cd player and the guys grabbed the cd and took off because they knew they were busted.

Lived in this town off and on since 1970. Drove cab for 8 months. Do not let them take you through the airport tunnel when trying to get to the strip. Paradise road run parallel to Las Vegas blvd on the east side. Use to get my fares from the airport to the Excalibur hotel for about $10.00 to 12:00 dollars ( this was back in 2003/2004). Fares have gone up since then. Not all drivers will long haul you but you need to be careful. If in doubt, take down his name and placard number on the dashboard and file a complaint with the taxi cab authority. If he get to many complaints, his placard is pulled and he cannot drive. The hotels serve stiff drinks because you will make mistakes when you gamble. The buffets used to be a lot better 30 to 40 years ago and much cheaper. Avoid the slot machines and stick with blackjack ( also known as 21 ) or baccarat ( also called chemen de fer ). Much better odds.

My mistake I made our last visit was carrying a (large) purse and everything in it. My shoulders and neck were dead by the end of the trip (I switched shoulders when I could). Next time I am bringing a back pack with cushioned straps. A tip for anyone who has never been to Vegas - there is so much to see and do - don't expect to be able to fit it all in one visit unless you plan on staying for several weeks to a month. Every time we plan to do certain things, there are always a few things we simply run out of time to do because like you mention - it takes a lot longer than people realize to go from one casino to another. Even a quick trip from the hotel room to our car and back to the room can sometimes take 25+ minutes depending on where the rooms proximity is to the parking garage.

As someone who used to travel to Las Vegas regularly and finally moving here, I would suggest you try an off strip hotel like any of the Stations brand, Boyd Gaming brand like Sam's Town. or the.M Resort. Their room rates are MUCH better and they often offer limo service. and their food is fantastic. Just a thought, but with the MGM raising resort fees to $45.00, it makes sense to look for a better value.

Yes, great advice here. My husband and I go to Vegas on an average of once a month. We live 3.5 hours away and prefer going to Vegas vs. the Indian Casinos. Here's my best tip for travelers that are met by those "timeshare" people when entering the Casino. I learned this because they got us two times at 4 hours each per presentation... Drum-roll please!.... Show them a THUMBS UP!... That's it. They all know that sign. It means that you've already attended the Time Share presentation! The "thumbs up" works most of the time in the big casinos. If by chance it doesn't work - it's because the person is a "newbe" and probably doesn't know the signal yet.... Enlighten them.
@randyporter3491
@randyporter3491 5 жыл бұрын
Tasha Good tip, but my wife and I got suckered into going to one of those presentations once. “It takes about an hour or so and you get totally free front row tickets to all shows, $10,000 in slot credit, a dozen steak dinners, six lobster dinners, a car (each), free airline tickets, $1000.00 shopping spree and six glazed doughnuts.” (or something like that) Well, I like doughnuts, so we went. Five hours later and no gifts, prizes or doughnuts, we escaped. So NOW I know the secret sign for them too, but it’s NOT a “thumbs-up”, it’s an aggressive and immediate middle finger, held high, for all to see !

By the time we were on Maui, the timeshare people figured out that we had seen the sales presentation twice already and got annoyed with my husband checking how well the plumbing was installed that we were out of there in 5 minutes. I had not even finished my free muffin and juice. Yes, we did our free snorkeling lol (3 hours of fun for 5 minutes and a free continental breakfast).

Very cool video guys! 👍 I hadn’t been to Vegas much at all (twice in 25 years) but went recently to see how many magic shows I could cram in. I planed to do 6 shows in 2 days. I did 5 then bailed on the last one to see Cirque’s O instead which was fantastic. 3 shows per day. The one thing I super learned that was tricky was some tickets had to be PICKED UP AT THE BOX OFFICE which was HARD to do...finding the office which was usually nowhere near the theater took WAY more time than I’d factored in, PLUS often it was required to wait a certain amount of time eg 1 hour before the show beforecyou were permitted to pick them up, so I couldn’t just arrive in LV and go grab all my tickets. NEVER will I do that again if I can simply book and receive e-tickets online instead. Another HUGE thing I learned is very often Uber or lyft would go to the wrong place to pick me up (eg the Hotel next door) because on the map it kind of books you automatically via location...then they’d cancel cuz I wasn’t there (when in fact they went to the wrong place) so I’d be stuck with $5 cancellation fees each time. It happened A LOT!!! Be sure to thoroughly know how to check where they are going to pick you up BEFORE accepting the ride booking. I found that about 35% of the time the app had me in a different location for pick up. SPECIFY by typing in your pick up hotel location instead. Those were the two big ones for me but I still managed 6 shows in two days! Very happy!

Jimmy Forester My family and I have been to Vegas many many times. We always stay off the strip at the lesser known hotels because they are cheaper and the gambling is a bit looser. But that’s only if you don’t feel the need to walk up and down the strip all day. The Orleans is ok and has a bowling alley, movie theater and nice pool. The big hotels are now charging for valet. But the smaller ones and the ones on Freemont street are free and all you have to do is tip a couple of dollars. Most hotels will give you coupons. Carry them around and don’t forget to use them. They can save you some money.

I live in Los Angeles and all I had to do was do a search online for Las Vegas cheap motels and found one for $50 a day for 2 nights without the resort fee just outside the Strip next to the Stratosphere. I traveled to Vegas using the Bolt Bus for only $25.00. I bought my breakfast at a McDonald's near my motel and bought my lunch and dinner from a taco truck for less than $10.00. I only went there to visit a friend who worked at a show that I went to. She got me in for free because she works at the show. Sightseeing alone is not my thing and I wasn't much of a gambler. So I saved a lot since all my itinerary were planned ahead of time.

If you're used to driving in any major city, Vegas isn't bad. We bring our own GPS and always rent a car, because getting off the strip is one of the best ways to avoid tourist pricing. The Hoover Dam is worth a look and so is the winery in Pahrump. Taking the Deuce bus to Fremont street is fun and cheap, but come back before the last bus which is generally jam-packed.

I sat at gate in Mccarran airport waiting to take off. Got up and asked an older couple also going to Buffalo to keep an eye on my carry on. People from Buff are kind, generous and honest. Sat down at slot and took out 100 from my winnings and played a .25 cent machine with a 5 coin max, which you must always ALWAYS bet to win big! 4 minutes later I cashed out with a $600.00 ticket win. People were gathering around me and I LUV the attention. One night at Harrah's after winning $1199.00 at the newly opened LUXOR, I stopped in high limit area. This was when slot attendants pushed around the heavy coin carts. Met the worker night b4 and he convinced me the higher level slots pay more often so when he saw I came back in that night I asked him where I wanted to play. He said try this slot. A $25.00 RED, WHITE & BLUE 3 REEL SLOT. Omg, what the hell. I just won up the street soooooo, I put 200 in and hit max coin for 50.00 a bet. My friends from Buffalo were shaking. Lol, two spins in a hit a single red bar, a double white bar and a triple blue bar. $2500.00 won. A few large gold coins hit the try and manager took my S. S. card and drivers license to go get my money. I had the coins in my hand and went right next to my winning machine. A DOUBLE DIAMOND machine also 2 coins. After waitress brought our drinks I said, well here goes... on 3rd try w 150. Invested I hit TRIPLE BARS, TRIPLE BARS, DOUBLE DIAMOND. $1250. win turned into $2500. Win. Now I'm going to pass out. 5 GRAND IN 5 MINUTES! People are cheering and when I looked over at slot attendant, he is smiling broadly because he knows I'm going to take care of him and I of course did. Listen people, these folks know what slots are hot and which ones hit most often. P.S. if you go into a casino and dont "FEEL" it, get out and go next door on the strip. I have had extraordinary wins over the years that started when I won a frozen Turkey at Fall Bazaar when I was 7. Thousands at Bingo also with big money in Ft. Erie Ontario Canada 15 min from Buffalo. Now living in Vegas, we have cash balls that reach tens of thousands. A couple I know recently won $182. 000 on a JUMBO game where Station properties are linked with that one game. AMAZING. 🍀🍾🌅🌵

I definitely agree on bringing the sweater or jacket because yes, it is freezing in the casinos. Outside it may be 110 degrees, inside it feels like 40. As for the timeshare people, ignore them. Just keep walking. Don't even worry about being rude, just keep walking.

I adore the Wynn and MyVegas apps! We haven't paid for a hotel room in Vegas in years. :) Last trip, we stayed 2 nights at Delano (which had a separate living and bedroom) and 4 at the Wynn, and got an upgrade for $50 a day--which we expected to pay with the resort fee that they didn't apply because we got the room with the app rewards. It included two $50 breakfasts each day--and had a room with his and hers bathrooms, and the sofa you were feeling like you missed. Your videos are so great. You're giving viable, helpful information without telling people to be cheap. This is my kind of Vegas advice.

They tend to give good advise, I frequent Vegas quite often and have never had a bad experience. Trying to remember all these money saving tips is cumbersome in my opinion. If you have to concentrate on penny pinching in Vegas, well you shouldn’t be there in the first place. It’s not for the financially faint of heart. Vegas has become extremely expensive and it’s not gonna go back to the good ol days of comps and bottomless drinks. Set a budget, know your limit and have fun.

On the strip, most buffets are no longer cheap. So when lunch time rolls around, ask yourself if you really need to spend $25 to $32 for a buffet, or if a sandwich and a drink would suffice. You can pick up lunch with a soft drink at somewhere like Earl of Sandwich for under $12. And you won't feel bloated all afternoon. And if you're shopping, Fashion show Mall has a big food court on the top floor with a dozen choices.
