I tested all the paints so you don't have to. Watch along to see how these different paint performed across different colors. I'll be testing Master's Touch, Blick Student, Basics, Winsor & Newton, Reeves, and Artist's Loft. Most of these are student grade acrylics. Which are your favorites?
This is not sponsored, I purchased all of these items and use them. I just decided to test what I had on hand!

Great review! Thank you. I'm just getting into acrylic painting and I bought a Masters Touch set with 18 small tubes. I immediately noticed how creamy and smooth they were. I also love how rich the pigment is. Going from the super cheap craft paints to Masters touch was night and day - although i'll still use the craft paints when i want to get duller more muted pigment.

That's a great way to use the two paints. Sometimes I use craft paint for the background!

Nicely done. I also believe much of a test like this can vary due to the artist's personal likings in the personality of the paints, as well as what each painter is looking for in color, movement, and strength of the paint.Coverage should be the same for me as it is for you. But how a paint feels for me may be different than the feel you are looking for. So there are variables, but an artist should have a pretty good idea about what to expect from the paints they are using. If I buy a certain color, and the paint is a different color, then we do have a problem. Some people like a more watery paint, whereby others want something more creamy while another may want something even stiffer and not as shiny. After your years of being an artist and working with the paints of different companies, I know you understand what I'm talking about. You have also gotten to understand the personality of the companies producing the paints, and what to expect for the feel, the color correctness, etc., of the paints you've worked with over time. I work with Masters Touch, and have always liked the color consistency, and how it lays on the canvas. Thank you for you video.

From these i like more Winsor and Newton and after Basic . I have used both and they are pretty good . If you can't afford the Heavy Body they are decent paints .The bad side of these paint is that they don't use expensive and very opaque pigments like cadmium , cobalt and so on , they are far more diluted and the color shift in some cases is pretty evident . The yellow you tested is made with arylide yellow usually a trasparent pigment than it's expected to be trasparent or semi-trasparant then you will need a lot of layers to cover the line no matter what . You find the same color in the artist line and they behave pretty similar but you have the option to buy a real cadmium yellow that it's totally opaque and you will cover the line in just 1-2 layers . Cool review btw 🙂

I heard that bismuth yellow is more opaque and more safer than cadmium yellow, although it's a bit pricey than cadmium yellow.

Welcome to painting! It's quite a wild ride. Will keep you busy for hours, sometimes you'll absolutely love the results and sometimes you'll be frustrated. My best advice is to just enjoy the process and experimentation! Keep a few of your first paintings on hand so that you can see how far you've come!

Hi! Loved this review. I was wondering, would you recommend liquitex basics as an entry level paint for someone on a budget? I was thinking of purchasing a range of these as my beginner paint as they are available and affordable. The other brand available in my country is Winsor & Newton, although it is around 20-30% more expensive. Would really appreciate your thoughts on these

Hi, is any of these water proof?
@RebelUnicornCrafts
@RebelUnicornCrafts 4 жыл бұрын
Once these are dry they are "waterproof" I wouldn't submerge it or anything. That being said I let layers dry in my painting and can add washes over the top with a lot of water and the layers underneath do not run at all.
