An excellent refresher on how to manipulate and enhance the light without traditional color tools , Jim! One suggestion: I would go into HSL and tone down the greens a bit, as they are starting to look a bit fluorescent--perhaps shift the hue.

Hey Jim! I have now made the transition from a Nikon P950 set on the "bird" setting to a Nikon Zf handheld on manual. Needless to say, I am learning A LOT. My first lesson is how important light is in photography. I'm a birder and primarily take photos of birds doing what they do so I have learned the time of day is really important to get my shots just right with feather detail, color, and generally showing the life of the bird. Thanks so much for this video.

Hi Jim, how's things? Good I hope. Just thought I'd drop you a quick note as I watch this vid. The title is great, caught my eye and had me intrigued! As with all of your videos I really love your delivery style. So natural and relaxed. That's something I struggle with and something I think you do so well. Great work my friend!

Hey Anthony! Nice to hear from you. I appreciate the kind words, but you look totally natural on camera so if you are struggling, it's news to us. :-) We should catch up sometime via Zoom or something, though with the time difference it could be hard to find an acceptable time. Regardless, it would be great to chat.

@@JimNix Hi Jim - bit late replying to this one! Sorry about that! Yes a video chat at some point sounds great. The time difference from NZ to, well, just about everywhere is a real pain. But regardless I look forward to when we either have a virtual catch up or, who knows, some day, hopefully be at the same event and meet up in person! All the best, Anthony

Jim, I may be wrong since english is not my native language, but shouldn't it be more like "I wish I had known sooner?"; as I learned in school "I wish I knew" would be for something unknown that one would like to know soon or in a near future. Greetings.

You are totally formally correct @mishaG9. I notice the North American usage has drifted away from using that though. So English is a variable, drifting language. I’m an Australian and we have a mix of American and British usage of English - plus now drifting with Asian English usage. There’s great channels on the origins and drifting of English. It’s incredibly complex more dynamic than most languages

Fantastic Jim the way you manipulated that raw file, quick question, I only shoot Drone photos as i don't own a camera other than my drones and Action Cameras, been wanting to get started but no idea where to begin, should i go DSLR or Mirrorless and what lens to get, its all very confusing, I've a budget of around £600, is that enough or should i save more, any advice would be great, thanks.
@JimNix
@JimNix 7 ай бұрын
Hi there and that question is very hard to answer. It depends on what you like to shoot (wide angle or zoom), and what features you need or don't need. I do recommend mirrorless but other than that, I would go talk to a local camera store and see what fits in your budget that you also like the feel of and features of. I hope that helps. Thanks!
