What Really Happens When You Die?

What happens when you die? Some people think there is an afterlife. In the world today, few mysteries remain as inexplicable as death, a subject that has perplexed and divided our society for thousands of years. Some cultures and religions describe an afterlife where souls pass between ethereal realms, while others conceive of death as little more than a sudden drop into nothingness. Almost universally, death is a great unknown awaiting all living things at the end of existence. So what really happens when you die?

I think the worst thing is the loss of memories and experiences. I never really thought about that aspect of death, but yea it’s pretty sad. Also thanks for bringing up Hinduism, it’s so often overlooked unfortunately

That's why in the limited time you have you should build a legacy. Whether that's through art like Leonardo Da Vinci or simply offspring like most others. When I die, my children carry on my place in this world and then their children. I am not completely lost until the last memory and last genetic offspring from my line is gone.

@@shifterzx i understand what you’re saying and I feel like that’s the natural response inside us given the society we live in. To me it’s starting to seem like what matters more is the effect we had on others in life. Did we treat people good. Did we love others and be loved. This may be more subtle than a “legacy” but I feel like is under appreciated. Does it really matter if people know our name thousands of years later. People who we remember today from long ago, not all but most, did horrible things just like today people use and abuse others to get to the top

Into the soil, into the bugs, then into the birds and other animals, into the water, then into the sky, then into the rain, then into the soil again then into crops, then into people. We travel beyond known reality and fantasy. Its the greatest journey anyone or anything will do. Death is another dimension just like life is. Some embrace it while others get scared. It ususally differs if you have lived earlier lifes or not. Our spirits / souls have seen and experienced different life times in many different bodies and also have different knollage about life and death and in any life no matter where and when your soul aint allowed to have this understanding to stop confusion and longing for what once was in earlier lifes. But dont be afraid if you are a old soul being reborn many times or a new soul with no experience of this. In the end, you are all welcome to a new transformation and i wish you all good in this life. I know when i have fond memories from a earlier life like many others who sometimes try to break these rules by telling me about it. I was here earlier in another state of being around in the past, present and future. ❤️

TBH, when we are first made in the womb, that is our world. We might hear the rumblings of the world outside, but that womb is all we know. That existence ends when we are born, and inside the womb, there is nothing where there used to be something. We all had one world end for us and another began. A bigger world that is a lot more complex. More complex than we can comprehend. Perhaps our death in this world is a beginning in another. One so far beyond us that we can even imagine. More complex than this one, perhaps.

One thing that convinces me Christianity isn't true is by how much its believers try to convince me it is. It's as if they're trying to convince themselves. I'm honest enough to admit I don't know if there's an afterlife or not, but one thing I'm positive of is that it's not the way they say it is.
@Duarteyahoo272
@Duarteyahoo272 8 ай бұрын
Hello, I am a Christian, and please let me explain. The reason we try so hard to convince people of Christianity is because we know it is true, and we want others to know that too, and we know it is true, not because we have blind faith, but because there is solid evidence to prove that Christianity is true. The main one is this: Christianity is true because Jesus resurrected, we know that because every unbiased historian says that there was a real man named Jesus, who actually died by crucifixion, and whose disciples genuinely believed he has risen from the dead, to the point of losing their lives for their faith. If you approach the subject with and open, unbiased mind you will come to the conclusion that the only coherent explanation for this is the supernatural one that Jesus did rise from the dead. Only that can explain why the apostles had genuine faith about the resurrection, demonstrated by their martyrdom, and why the opponents of Christianity didn't just disprove Christianity on the spot by showing everyone Jesus' body. I definetly encourage you to look into more evidence to see what you think about this. Have a great day my friend :)

@@Duarteyahoo272 You proclaim the faith to be true based on nothing more than your claims that it's true, and fail to understand the logical fallacy behind such self-affirmation? I never trust anyone who claims to know things no human alive can know. Jews see your cult as a heresy. A real god would have created Christianity first, instead of waiting for 4000 years of human civilization before "sending his son." There are so many contradictions in the New Testament and departures from truth I don't have space here to list them all, and then you say you have the only truth? Analyze your religion, and learn its history. It's quite sordid.

@@Duarteyahoo272 Clear Contradictions in the New Testament Bible 1. Jesus descended from which son of David? Solomon (Matthew 1:6) Nathan(Luke3:31) 2. Who was the father of Jechoniah? Josiah (Matthew 1:11) Jeholakim (I Chronicles 3:16) 3. How many generations were there from the Babylonian exile until Christ? Matthew says fourteen (Matthew 1:17) But a careful count of the generations reveals only thirteen (see Matthew 1: 12-16) 4. Who was the father of Shelah? Cainan (Luke 3:35-36) Arphaxad (Genesis II: 12) 5. Was John the Baptist Elijah who was to come? Yes (Matthew II: 14, 17:10-13) No (John 1:19-21) 6. Would Jesus inherit David's throne? Yes. So said the angel (Luke 1:32) No, since he is a descendant of Jehoiakim (see Matthew 1: I 1, I Chronicles 3:16). And Jehoiakim was cursed by God so that none of his descendants can sit upon David's throne (Jeremiah 36:30) 7. Jesus rode into Jerusalem on how many animals? One - a colt (Mark 11:7; cf Luke 19:3 5). And they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their garments on it; and he sat upon it. Two - a colt and an ass (Matthew 21:7). They brought the ass and the colt and put their garments on them and he sat thereon. 8. How did Simon Peter find out that Jesus was the Christ? By a revelation from heaven (Matthew 16:17) His brother Andrew told him (John 1:41) 9. Where did Jesus first meet Simon Peter and Andrew? By the sea of Galilee (Matthew 4:18-22) On the banks of river Jordan (John 1:42). After that, Jesus decided to go to Galilee (John 1:43) 10. When Jesus met Jairus was Jairus daughter already dead? Yes. Matthew 9:18 quotes him as saying, My daughter has just died. No. Mark 5:23 quotes him as saying, "My little daughter is at the point of death."

There might be some inaccuracies about your presentation about Islam. Akhirat is the day of judgment while after you die, your soul is separated from your body in your grave. For akhirat, it is typically your end of days, where all souls that have ever existed will be judged and sent to either heaven or hell. In your grave, you will be questioned by angels, including them asking the angels that were with you all your life who wrote down all your deeds n misdeeds. Punishments may also be inflicted on you while in this state. Hope this clarifies things. Sunni, Syafi'e, teachings in Malaysia.

To me, it feels wasteful to use this unfathomably complex and vast universe merely as a morality simulator. I’m not saying religion is incorrect. There could be some truth to it. what i hate about death is all the lost information, regardless of how we approach it. once you are dead all the knowledge you piled up is worthless, all the memories you collected are gone and all the values you learned are washed away. if there is nothing after death, i dont need to explain it at all. if we are reincarneted as a … bird… well good luck remembering your human life and build upon the knowledge you once had… while all you do is to chase food and mating while also try to avoid predators. and if you reborn as a human again after that… well good luck using your new skills of … vomitfeeding your offsprings… if you are reborn as a human (no animal phase in between), well… the cycle just repeates. learn the language again, learn what is good or bad, learn the same damn things again. no chance of reusing your skills you worked on for decades… and of course you are unable to continue anything. if we just go to hell or heaven… that is also a bummer really because most of the people are raised to believe in their type of heaven or hell, and if its true that only one religion is right and the rest are lost… well then its hell for most of the people regardless of their religion. take Islam: you will be judged by the knowledge of yours about their religius texts. how cool is that; if you were a Budhist monk doing nothing a bad in your life: you are damned to hell. if we take Christianity; well that monk did not believe in ‘God’ either… well done; hell awaits… there is no win scennario here. i am not afraid of death, i hate it. i hate it because we are wasting time to learn and do stuff… all for nothing. well, not nothing nothing of course, we make our time here more enjoyable and probably others too… but when its over, everything is lost and forever … either reincarnation, either hell or just simply being switched off forever…

Well the Bible says something different than that. It says that Jesus is the saviour of mankind, not a fraction of it. The Bible says "the Lord will not cast off forever", it also says that God's will is that everyone is saved, not a minority of people. According to the Bible, most people will be refined in fire in the place we call "hell", and after that, everyone will live in the new earth and new universe that God will create, and, as the Bible puts it, "God will be all in all", whatever that means. People who believe in Christ in this life will not need to be refined in the "furnace of fire", and that is the reason why we are obligated to preach Christianity, to save people from having to go through hell, but at the end of the day, everyone will be saved, as the Bible puts it "For God has commited all to disobedience, so he could have mercy on ALL". The tragic reason why most christians believe in eternal hell, is due to a misunderstanding of the hebrew/greek word that means "enduring" or "age-during" which people wrongly started interpreting as "eternal" a few centuries after the rise of christianity, in the beggining most believed that everyone would eventually be saved. I hope this helped you in some way, have an awesome day :)

Praying for the dead is a bit futile, unless you believe in Purgatory. The only scripture supporting such an idea is in 2 Maccabees somewhere. You'll have to look up the verse for me, since I'm lazy and pressed for time now.

I think it's crazy in movies where are they are sometime in the future, where are uploading your consciousness is a thing! I'm not religious, I would like to think when you die your consciousness leaves your body as Energy, dissipating throughout the universe! Whether or not you are aware or even the possibility what we know as consciousness when you are alive, upon death does it stay together or dissipate?! However there's going to be a lot of people believing that you are loved one is in a computer, I mean we can do that today if the model has enough data on that person! Facebook got backlash from something like that! To me that's a party trick taking advantage people who lost somebody that was close to them and then charging them! For billionaires, that's where convincing them you're able to upload your consciousness and obviously charge them a lot of money for it!

I had a thought about Hell.... I think Hell is whatever you Really hope it won't be 🤔 I'll skip the obvious options, and suggest that it may be much simpler; like forever waiting on hold while the muzak playing is something by Bach, with oboes and cellos, interupted, every so often, by an aggrivatingly unctious voce thanking you for your patience 😩

Among the Abrahamic religions, Judaism is the least specific about what happens after death. In fact, it is something that Jewish teachers do not comment upon. The basic idea is that human beings do not have the mental equipment to understand what experience outside of this work is like. Yes, there are occasional comments in the sacred books about afterlife, but there is no comprehensive set of ideas about the matter.

Physically your body rots into the earth. Spiritually you either go to heaven or hell. That’s my opinion. Heaven and hell are in another dimension. Watching NDE’s where people who were pronounced clinically dead had “dreams” about the two places when the brain is physically not allowed to have dreams while you’re dead has played a role in convincing me about this.

@@AstropoliX ofcourse he has the right to believe whatever he wants so I'm sorry for my comment. He see , live in, and believe the painting he is in but he doesn't believe in the painter. Atheists make different philosophies for not believing in creation or creator. Some say it was a accident some say it's a simulation in a super computer by some super advanced aliens( who created them is a mystery too !) Some say we are not even real some say we are some monkeys genetically engineered by again some aliens. They make their religion or philosophy but when believers tell their view on life they start mocking it and say it's just your philosophy not the truth. Saying this ultimately amazing and ultimately well ordered world that everything from tiny atoms to huge galaxies are working well though without error so humans can exist is like saying a bomb exploded in a jungle then a super computer was invented some books were written magically by that explosion all of a sudden. It's even more strange and wrong.
