For the people who do not know Machiavelli: Niccolò di Bernardo dei Machiavelli ( 3 May 1469 - 21 June 1527), was an Italian diplomat, author, philosopher and historian who lived during the Renaissance. He is best known for his political treatise The Prince (Il Principe), written around 1513 but not published until 1532, five years after his death.[8] He has often been called the father of modern political philosophy and political science. All he said in his life is now coming true.

There are two predators that covet absolute power. I never underestimate Putin... Chechnya. He and Trump both love to twist the truth into something unrecognizable. Results in thoughts... like this potential: Next week news, Russia claims of US/Ukraine strikes in Belarus for nuclear missile movement, coincidently they deny it. Wagner leader just happens to die from collateral damage. As a result, Putin states he will attack both countries. Trump claims he is the only one that can stop it all, but only if he is made president immediately, while Putin insist he will deal with no other, not until Trump is in charge of the US. Price of the deal? Return Alaska to Russian control. Trump rewards are he/his family gets to run a major business in Moscow, funded by Russia, for next 40 years.

I'm pretty sure the convicts were used up as cannon fodder in Bakhmut. Russian battlefield strategy for the last 300 years or more consists of throwing young men at the front lines on suicide missions until their enemy can't keep pace and have to fall back. Also, they have 2 lines behind the front line that shoots their own soldiers that don't move forward. These cannon-fodder suicide-mission battle plans are the reason why Russia *always* has many times more casualties than any other nation in every war they participate in, and it's not even close

That wasn't Putin. People close to Putin tried to convince him of the need to speak to the nation, but he categorically refused. Then it was decided to take a recording of the speech of the president's double on June 24 in the evening, following the completion of the rebellion, which the president "rejected" then and forbade it to be broadcast. It was edited to fit today's events. It should be noted that when the final version of the edited "appeal" was presented to Patrushev, he laughed like never before. Later, the video was provided to Putin for review, first he resisted, but he was convinced that it was better than nothing. In the Presidential Administration, the video was called a stand-up comedy.

I mean, I get what you're saying but... Bombers don't really concern you when you have a slew of anti-aircraft weapons at your disposal and those bombers are crewed by poorly trained Russians. It was more than a couple APCs. It was roughly 25k troops heading toward Moscow. Granted about half that force was still prepping to mobilize. The other half was steadily making progress toward the capital. Zelensky has a capable, willing, and loyal fighting force between him and Russia. Putin would be lucky to say that about the 100 people closest to him, nevermind a fighting force outside his inner circle.

She seems way more knowledgeable than the other "experts" and would be much better at getting real, insightful comments from them. In fact, this is what Lukashenko says---I also understood that a cruel decision was made (it sounded like a subtext in Putin's speech) - to get wet. I suggested to Putin to take his time. Come on, I say, let's talk to Prigozhin, to his commanders. To which he told me: "Listen, Sasha, it's useless. He doesn't even pick up the phone, he doesn't want to talk to anyone," Lukashenko said about the development of events on June 24.The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, spoke about the negotiations with PMC founder Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin.--"I say: "Zhenya, no one will give you either Shoigu or Gerasimov, especially in this situation. You know Putin as well as I do. Second, not only will he not meet you - he won't talk on the phone because of this situation.But we want justice! They want to strangle us! We're going to Moscow!" I say, "Halfway you'll be squashed like a bug. Despite the fact that the troops (Putin told me about this for a long time) are scattered on the relevant front. Think, I say. "No" is such euphoria, the Belarusian leader continued.I convinced him for a long time. And finally I said, “You know, you can do whatever you want. But don't be offended. The brigade is ready for transfer to Moscow. And as in 1941, read books, educated, intelligent person, we will defend Moscow. Because this situation is not only in Russia. This is not only because this is our homeland," concluded the President of Belarus.........In reality PMC Wagner is really a pretty good combat unit, consisting of 5000 former Russian commandos and 20 thousand soldiers, they have their undoubted merits on the front---in one year they managed to capture over 20 thousand square km, which includes Popasnia (one of the most the fortified areas in Donbas).Soledar, Bakhmut and the adjacent villages in their direction,but in reality, they have no chance against the Russian assault groups, just an example--in one month they captured a city of half a million people, like Mariupol, and liquidated the color and elite of the Ukrainian army defending the city.... this is exactly what Prigozhin understood.Against NATO units, it would be much easier for Prigozhin, bearing in mind that 7 American and 2 British brigades unsuccessfully stormed Fallujah for a year, protected by 3000 goatherds armed with bows and arrows.

Prigozhin must know he has a death sentence pending - a matter of time and timing. Belarus seems a good option for Prigozhin and a odd choice for Poo Tin. In Belarus Prigozhin could find support from Lukashenko and protect him from his own people and from Poo Tin as well. Lukashenko might be hoping to manipulate the situation to get both a 'loyal to him under threat of been handed over to Poo Tin and the Russian army at a time of their choosing', battle hardened, proven, experienced, bunch of desperate criminal thugs. AND get control of the Wagner PMC and all its wealth and revenue producing African mercenary assets. The situation is so strange, so fluid, I would expect just about anything from all of these 'playing for keeps' power tripping Power Merchants. Live by the sword, die by the sword. May you live in interesting times.

As I kept going through the war games in my head, capturing moscow means little if the government can still function in say St. Petersburg. This happened to napoleon. Of course things are much different today, but taking moscow would have meant full scale war, it wasn’t like Wagner was gonna not only beat the military but set up an entire government while the still acting president is alive, whom happens to be both one of the wealthiest and ruthless man in the world.
@RandomIdiotGS11 ай бұрын
For sure the situation between Putin and Prigozhin isn't over, that's extremely obvious. But don't underestimate the reverse either. Yes, in not striking Putin it's true that Prigozhin missed his best opportunity to strike Putin, but given that Putin fled the most likely outcome would've been a longterm struggle for power with a possible stalemate developing due to neither side being able to easily reach the other. However, the fact that he was able to march straight on Moscow implies that the Russian hierarchy has already abandoned Putin. And Putin cannot trust anyone under him anymore. And it won't take Wagner to show that there is a very thin line of "peace" preventing official Russian elements from infighting. Putin showed his weakness, the necessity for someone like Lukashenka to intervene and that the Russian army is unwilling to follow all orders of Putin (and also that Russia itself cannot deal with threats on the inside, at all). And the best thing? Putin being unwilling to solve it! He just ignores the problems and hopes that if he ignores it they will go away! But in reality, the stage is set for a massive Russian disaster.
