As an identical twin, YES PARENTS let your kids be individual!!! Even if you’re not twins, but when you have an identical twin, yes it is a built in best friend most the time, but it’s also a built in person to constantly compare yourself too. Being a twin is hard enough by itself! My own parents called out our differences growing up and constantly reassured us that we are different, individual people and it helped more than anything.

For those with big hearts: stop caring about others who don't care about you. Learn to be selfish and put your life/happiness above theirs. Worrying excessively about others won't do a thing, but make your mental/physical health worse. Everyone is told that stress kills; so does neglecting your emotions and keeping everything bottled up. People get so stressed that it affects their physical health. How many times have you put other's life/happiness above yours, because you care about them, but that they never did the same for you. It doesn't matter if they are your 'friend', or if they are family/relative; learn to cut some people off. This might not be the case for all of you, but if your heart is so big that you are the parental figure in your circle; you spend so much time trying to help others, because you're worried about them. Let me tell you this, it does not matter how much love and care you give to others; how can you help others who don't help themselves? Why are you wasting your time helping others, and stressing yourself out, when your life, health, and happiness should be your top priority. Learn to be selfish and put yourself first. Again, this might not be the same scenario for most people reading this, but for others who constantly help others and put themselves last.
@missmayflower

Yup. Plus, when you finally stop helping them, you suddenly become the bad guy. They only remember that you stopped helping them instead of being grateful for the help you gave them for all that time.

Hard disagree about not reading full books. The meaningful 20% is going to be different for me than for you. Someone else's summary is not going to have the impact on me that the full 100% will. Yes, the 20/80 rule does seem to be a real thing, but that doesn't mean the 80% is worthless; without the 80, the 20 just doesn't have the impact it could have. Summaries, cliff notes, etc. are to help refresh your memory, not to replace the actual experience. The mental resting time provided by the "fluff" of the 80 is actually really important.

Fix the god damn dishwasher door if it’s broken. A older dishwasher door of ours would slam onto the ground. It was old so it weighed a lot. I opened it to grab a fork and I woke up in a lot of pain on the floor crying with my family surrounding me. The door slammed on my big toe and they said it sounded like someone smashed a potato. I broke my toe. I went through PT and pain meds. Fix your stuff. Don’t leave it be, you need to stay safe so please do not leave something broken.

The reason it's not required in America is that people here can and will try to sue you for saving their lives without their permission. And if your employer required you to learn that skill then you could then turn around and sue them for getting you sued.

0:39 is solid advice 👌 I often don't vocalize what I want because of fear of rejection. There was a position at work that I wanted so bad. And there are others that wanted that position too who I believe were more qualified than I am. I used to shrug it off like it's no big deal. But then my bf pushed me to vocalize what I want. So I did. I was told the position was not open. I was sad but accepted it and moved on. After 2 weeks something came up and the position was open. Guess who they called first? ME. I now have my dream job😊

Mine is a combination of the mom of twins and the water polo girl. At 8-9 years old, I told my mom I wanted to be a voice actor, but she’d tell me it wasn’t for me and that it wasn’t a real career. So for many years I stopped sharing it with people due to the fear of rejection. Now I see a number of my classmates from high school starting modeling careers, so I’ve become more brave and sharing again to see if I can manifest it. To any current or future parents: when your child says, “Mom/Dad, I want to be a(n) __ when I grow up” don’t discourage them. Even if it’s something you don’t like, listen to them. You don’t have to like it, or even accept it, you just have to respect it. Let them discover things on their own and don’t push them into doing something they don’t want to. They might change their mind, they might not. Your children are going to have haters regardless, DONT be one of them. Don’t be your child’s first hater. Don’t discourage them from following their dreams, especially when they’re really young, it’ll only make them not want to open up to you in the future.

It doesn't matter if you make minimum wage or making bank at your job. If you're not happy at the end of the day, it's not worth it. I used to work invoice packing and shipping at a warehouse that distributed organic foods and products but I worked ridiculously long hours, the managers were mostly related to each other and there was always drama between coworkers. Yes, I was making more money than I have ever made in my life but I drank every single weekend, barely ate or slept throughout the week and contemplated suicide more than I'd ever want to admit.

My mom once listened to my dad and didn't go to University cos he claimed she was too old, after they broke up she struggled for years to find a good job despite her experience but didn't. She finally got another opportunity to go and he plus many other people especially her friends spoke against it citing that she's 'old' but I encouraged her and helped her out at times, now she's almost done with her final year and will be graduating in a couple months. Here's mine... People really don't care. If it's not in "their" best interests, it won't matter to them. So don't over share. It's irrelevant to who you think you're talking to.

Watch out with how much you drink, why you drink, how you feel when you decide to drink. Please I'm begging you. It's so easy to have a glass of wine when you're stressed after work. And maybe it's occasionally. Maybe you usually only drink at the dinner table with friends, but tonight you're stressed so you'll have a glass. And next week you're stressed so you'll have a glass. And maybe twice in one week isn't so bad. Before you know it it's every day. Then it's sneaking it in your water bottle to get you through a stressful dinner. It escalates so fast, it escalates faster than you realize. Also, it's easy to become desensitized to things. One moment you're drug free and then you have a little bit of weed (which is fine man. I love me some edibles) but you see your friends moving on to coke because coke is really popular right now. I swear it's like a stepping stone. You see it enough, you see your friends doing it and even if they don't pressure you, you see them still functional and going to work so hey maybe it's not that bad. Why not give it a shot? But then it's not enough and you wanna try new things and before long you're not functioning. They're not functioning. And you've lost a whole year of your life to drugs and alcohol. I will never get that time back. For the rest of my life people will go "remember when?" And I will have no clue what they're talking about. People tell me about things I did or said and I remember none of it. For the parts that I do remember, I remember feeling sick. I remember sobering up to pain and aches and nausea. I remember sleeping for days or staying awake for days. I remember wanting so bad to go do things with friends but not being able to because I was so sick and so exhausted. I remember going to party city with my mom and stumbling around because I was so dizzy I couldn't hardly see. I watched everyone around me go to college and live and their lives and I was suffering too much to even wake up sometimes. I am fine now, it's been about four years. But every now and again my memory gaps come to get me. Every now and again when I'm stressed, when I'm sad, I think about what would make me feel better right now. It never really stops. So don't even start.

one thing i learned from a past mistake is, to never stand up for myself even if im right, to never speak out my emotions, to never express my emotions, to never show my true self. - from a person thats been abused physically, mentally and verbally. :)

I got 3 things. 1. If you get bad vibes from your friends, if you notice they’re starting being distant, rude, coming to you only when they need you or over-sharing too much stuff or venting when you don’t give them permission, DROP THEM PLEASEEEE!!!! SAVE YOURSELF FROM THESE KINDS OF PEOPLE!! 2. If a partner/Boyfriend/Girlfriend starts acting off, like being angry all the time, wanting to be only with you in an obsessive way to the point where they yell at you and swear at you a lot if you don’t stay with them, and if they get overly jealous even when you’re going out shopping with your mom, same thing. They’re not worth it. 3. The most important thing is, never be nice. Someone calls you bad things? Immediately report it to someone. Don’t just stand there thinking they’re joking. Someone is touching, following or doing anything else weird? Do something. Report them when you can. Don’t do anything violent though, this might seem as aggressive and may get you in a fight, so just stick to being kinda rude and do anything to leave that person. Some of you may not agree with anything on this comment, but it’s true. I’m not exaggerating, it all happened to me and has left several mental scars. All I want is for people to stay safe and avoid the hellish things I’ve been through, if anyone has any question of what I mean then please ask.

If you are going to graduate high school and are looking to live on campus when you go off to college, apply for housing to all of the ones you've been accepted at before the priority deadline! That way you'll at least have a place to go to without being put on a wait list and potentially not have a place to live. Once you make your decision on where to go cancel your housing requests to the other universities. I had to defer my enrollment to college based on the lack of housing on and off campus.

My mistake: I decided to retaliate against a b-word roommate. It was just supposed to be some immature pranks but...I got arrested and charged with simple assault and criminal mischief for tampering with her food and drinks. I put random stuff in the products she used for her baking business and she filed a complaint with police. Nothing was even serious, just stuff like salt and baking soda. Lesson: When you're fighting with a roommate, either break the lease and move out or keep to yourself as much as possible. Don't try to retaliate with dumb stuff.

Opening a relationship trying to fix an issue in said relationship WILL end in you and the person breaking up. If you want to have polyamory or polygamy both parties have to have a solid relationship foundation and both parties HAVE to agree.

That “don’t read books” one is bullshit. Maybe it could be applied to advice or self-help books but compressing what’s in a book into bullet points would take all the joy out of reading for me. Like, I want to go on this adventure with these characters. Compressing a book down is like watching a trailer and saying you’ve seen the movie. No you haven’t. You saw a few key points but know nothing of how or why they got there. READ BOOKS, PEOPLE! They are full of amazing and wonderful people, places and things.

He wasn't talking about all books, he specifically said if you're trying to learn about business. He's right about most of those self-help books being filler and fluff. It's so frustrating. But yeah, condensing a novel or other work of fiction into bullet points would defeat the purpose of writing/reading the story in the first place.
