Where I work there are high voltage power lines going into the building. One power line worker has his arm almost burned off he died in the hospital. I was told by a bartender that if he made less then $500 in tips in a night it was a bad night. He said that on a really good night he could brake $2k. And since a good chunk of that is in cash I'm sure that he did not tell the IRS.

I'm a mobile dog groomer in Australia, my record income for a day is $1005, average $750. I also have a night job in a processed fish factory for $55ph. But dog grooming pays well if you're good with dogs at $90-120ph if self employed

Its interesting that you mentioned this, for years i worked in a shop that used "vacuum clippers," which are incredible for short cuts, military, etc. The systems are so effective that a guy can come in wearing a shirt and tie, get a cut, and leave with ZERO hair on his person or clothes. I had a "mobile" set, and actually did decent grooming on a few friends dogs! Ive often wondered if dog grooming (maybe just one day a week, or month?) Would be fun, but i need to know if you have a school, licensing, etc.

Honestly ANY JOB with a good union is worth it. That’s why I always recommend you work for the government, even if it seems it pays less per hour and there’s less prestige. It’s nice working for an organization that really isn’t thaaaaat committed to squeezing its employees for every penny of profit.

Man, love how this appeared in my recommendations after my mom had told me that a window cleaner that we know gets paid $100 an hour just to clean the outside of a normal(small-medium sized) house's windows, while I'm trying to work my way through Community College to get certified in working with composites like carbon fiber, fiberglass, and Aramid(Kevlar), in the hopes of getting a job with Boeing which, according to a job search on Google, only pays less than half of that per hour at the start then gets to just over half after some time...that guy is washing the outside of Windows with dawn dish soap and getting 100/hour whilst I'm going to be handling materials that, when uncured, pose many health hazards even with a small amount of skin contact...and the starting pay is only 40-60 an hour....

As far as #2, the station where I work used to use live captioners, but we switched to a voice recognition automated system well over a year ago. I would be surprised that there are any people doing that job in another year ('m kind of surprised there are still people doing it now).

If you have a young friend or family member who has no interest in college, suggest Barber school. As long as they are sociable, Barber (or Cosmetology) school can be as cheap as ten grand, (grants, student loans) and a serious student can graduate in 9 or 10 months. Equipment is inexpensive, and lasts for years, and most Barbershops starting pay is 70% to the Barber. The downside: after Barber school youll probably have to work at a "great clips" for 6 months, to hone your skills, but then youre ready to work in a 'real' shop. Its low stress, you spend your days making people look/feel better, and if haircuts are 30$ each, (and your cut is 70% or 25$) you can do 3 cuts an hour, with tips youll make 90$ per hour, 40 hours per week. Its honest work, and you can live comfortably. Not many people realize this, thats why theres a huge need for barbers, everywhere.
@Skipjack7814
@Skipjack7814 9 ай бұрын
Afterthought: a good Barber can eventually buy or open his or own shop, and (especially if its already staffed and reasonably popular) start keeping 100% of his (or her) earnings, while getting 25 or 30% of the employees take as well. Again, noone gets "Rich" doing this, but if youll sit down and do some basic math, you'll be astounded at the money! A Barbershops expenses are fixed, so its easy to weigh possible profits against expense. Just sayin! *it is hard to find great Barbers, so if you open a shop, limit it to three or four chairs at first.. 😃

@@Bigfatbitch66 youre probably right, but in many ways, including cost effectiveness, it is. I also may have exaggerated the "grind" time between school and landing a "proper" job? I had to work at a couple of those "fantastic sams" (scams) shops before i got a real barbershop job. I have a small shop in Naples, Florida now. This is a resort town with insane wealth, so its a good place to work. But yeah, it probably is a bit harder than i recall, but: i still say its a fine trade, that certainly pays well, even if its not as easy as I describe, well worth the time, effort, and expense required. Is this acceptable? I mean no impertinence, and I do hope youre well and in good spirits! John The Barber Naples

Hair stylist. You go to school for a year, get a license, and get paid to play with hair. Comission based jobs are good and chemical services are bank. One color service can pay $400 if the hair is long enough and can come out to like $100-200 an hour if you're fast enough

Hey Technical Editor/Writer here. Yeah the pay for the job is not too shabby but that’s further on down the line depending on the company. Some companies do want someone to have some kind of background in engineering or science but others want to only hire those who have an English degree or something similar as we tend to better explain in words how something works

Not really, no. Or at least not any time soon. Between accents, dialects, constantly evolving slang, and recognizing emotions/context, any software handling voice transcription (or translation) is notoriously unreliable. It’ll do in a pinch, but you need a human for anything that NEEDS to be accurate. People on Reddit always overstate the rate at which jobs will be automated. Probably bc a decent chunk of them work in IT.

With taking account of all. benefits a city bus driver in San Francisco makes $250k. I Knew a guy who did 25 years as a bus driver in SF and he fully retired at 42 with a full pension paying him his full wages. He retired in Orgone on a multi million dollar estate that he bought with cash. I did not believe him when he told me what he made until the bus drivers went on strike and someone leaked what they actually made to the press. The union buckled under once the public found out what they made and went from totally supporting the union to being entiraly agenst the union. When you make under $100k and you find out some bus driver makes $250k that really pisses people off.
