We're doing a coho and king taste test with a delicious catch and cook recipe! This is a really fun episode, and it's just part 1 of a 3 part series where we travel to a few different locations. Yukon chinook is amazing, but I’ve never caught one. Love a good fatty blackened to medium! Have you ever made blackened salmon tacos on a camp trip?! Easy and amazing and boy it gets me right where I need to be after a big day. But I prefer sockeye for tacos. They are perfect for a hot quick sear. Coho would prob be similar.

One thing I noticed about the way Taku did his was that he presented it skin side up. My guess is that it prevents the juices from collecting around the skin to keep it crispy?

Jordan, for me it is Steelhead or Silver to pan fry and keep the King to smoke but wouldn't pass up if they were prepared vise-versa. Enjoy your videos and even with the huge age difference would enjoy hanging around with you on the water. Been gone from the Northwest for a long time but have you ever fished the Satsop Silver run?

Coho is by far better than any fall river Chinook however, the fall Chinook this year have been cutting quite good is seems!

Loved the bag salad and the rockweight. Nice technique! I just wish you would stop squishing the fillet after you flip it. Just apply a gentle but firm pressure with your spatch/fork to hold in place and that's it don't be a little poker. From one chef angler to another with love, it looked delicious but overcooked. Lower your temperature and try to remove just before the fish can flake apart. You'll have a much juicer piece of fish. All that said you can't beat the freshness of that meat and that scenery to cook in well done my friend. Ps. You got some game in the out door kitchen. Keep it up with the videos!

I promise you the biggest schools of salmon you will ever see in your life all together is is Seattle under the west Seattle bridge off the right side of Spokane street harbor island where the Fish are just heading up the Duwamish river from Elliot bay

I agree that crispy skin is amazing...i highly suggest scaling fish before filleting!!! If you're a skin lover, it's worth the time. ⚛🍃∞💚∞🍃⚛

I think coho is better. The flavors mix well and it’s doesn’t smell or taste fishy to me. I do love some big thick king fillets tho!
