To have a proper meeting, you need the right place and timing. This is basically the same in all countries. 4.Some Korean men may have fetishes for foreign women. On the contrary, there is also a fetish for Korea because of dramas and K-pop. 5. There are too many exaggerations and distortions on KZfaq and TikTok. Especially because Korea is a country with severe strong feminism and gender conflict, to be honest. Don't trust KZfaq or TikTok too much. 6. In conclusion, the worse the fantasy, the greater the disappointment. Korean men (and women) are neither fairy tales nor horror. There are bad people everywhere, but there are far more good people.

Because the majority of the foreigners in Korea are either students or academy teachers, I wonder if the answers would be different if the interviewees have higher-level jobs, Korea-born, have long-term jobs, and/or have family in Korea. I feel like an exchange student or people with term-ending occupations in any country would have similar responses.

If you want to meet a good person in Korea, never look for it in a club or Tinder. People you meet at clubs or Tinder only want ONS. Looking forward to a serious meeting there is like finding gold in a trashcan. In addition, most Koreans don't go to clubs. If you want to meet a good Korean friend, go to school or work and make Korean friends. Naturally, the chances of meeting a good person increase. Even if you don't have a boy(girl) friend, there will be a lot of people who will introduce you to a good Korean.

I lived in Korea (tan Latina here). All my friends be they white, black, etc. had similar experiences. Mind you, they were all pretty girls. Men seem to just want to taste the rainbow. They ain’t gonna be serious with you, unless you know or grounded in the culture and language. Korean society is very collective. People forget that about eastern cultures…

I think dating is hard in any country, times have changes since covid,people are being more careful.

I had a 4 years relationship (from my time in korea and long distance) with someone I met in Sogang University. We were serious and I thought we would be able to settle down. He was lovely and very caring, and we would call regularly over different time zones and met each other in different countries. In the end, we didn’t make it after 3 years of long distance as we had no idea when he could come over to work or assimilate in my country for our future together. It really wasn’t straightforward to plan and make it happen for him to come here. I’m asian, from Singapore.

Korean society is very closed, it's getting better but still a lot of Korean parents might not like to have a foreign family members. They are not used to mix their family race because we have gone through a lot of wars through out the history by the invaders, which made us more closed society. Because we are very much like family oriented country unlike western countries, the parents' opinion matters so much when it comes to marriage. It is hard for even Koreans to get married to each other because they have to go through that parents' approval thing. Also some families have family rituals like "jesa" to carry on which is very important thing for them, or older generation are not good at speaking English or want to learn foreign languages. So be careful about Korean guys, they might just leave you to escape that burden unless they really love you. And there are some garbage guys also in Korea too!

I love open minded and accepting people regardless of skin color. My first crush was African-American girl. I just wish I spoke English fluently then.. One thing I can say tho about non-Korean women in general is that they care more about one's personality more than anything and much more open-minded... from my experience anyway. It looks like they have high standards as a society which makes me respect them more. I never knew this. They are probably very proud of their culture and are not really looking for happiness elsewhere. You can join their world if u want but they will not join yours, whereas most of us who were raised in Western countries we don’t belong anywhere. A foreign female has to make observations of how Korean females dates then the outcome will be different. But it’s true in my country I used to see foreign females more for sexual curiosity but no more cause then all my friends and family will be judgmental to me😢

To be honest Korean guys are not wrong about not taking them seriously, most of them are really here for only a couple months or maybe up to 4 years because of university, it is normal for them to have this "just another one" thought pops up. In comparison, Asians(especially Asian guys) in western countries had it worse, even if you're native born, say an Asian American guy, you'll be struggling with dating for sure, sometimes it's zero chance just because of your race, yet he's not even an exchange student but a local resident and citizen and they might been there for more than 2 generations. I honestly think western societies and countries are doing it worse than in Korea, this is the first time of the era that so foreigners coming to this country because they like the culture, or have fetish to Koreans, Koreans are doing relatively good and ok in my opinion. If you change the case completely, a Korean guy as an exchange student trying to date a local white girl in western country, he's going to get refused for many times, and perhaps facing other local men's violence due to the competition, all that simply because he's an Asian face. In East Asian, no matter you're white, black, brown guys, you don't need to worry about being punched by local people just because you trying to hit on local girls while another local dude wants the same
