Dovetail Games definition of "World" was well described by you, there are so many interesting routes that would be an amazing addition to the game, but Dovetail is quite ignorant towards the playerbase.

Thank you for commenting on this, its really refreshing to see that even people on the other side of the pond notice how much the US routes just suck, something that irks me about the US content they release is that there is far too much passenger specific routes, the US is not Europe we do not prioritize passenger trains and we are a very large country that relies highly on our freight trains to keep it moving and seeing them push that aside for weirdly specific and niche passenger routes is indescribably infuriating, don't get me wrong though i do like playing the passenger routes and own nearly all the US routes regardless of if its passenger oriented or not but i just want to see some fallen flags and older locomotives, I wanna see some Burlington Northern or Chessie System or New York Central, and to top it off the most baffling thing is that they still haven't released an American steam locomotive, there are 4 or 5 UK steam locomotives and not even 1 for the US, the favoritism is beyond sad.

Honestly, it comes to such a point where I don't want DTG to make an aussie route, even though a Sydney (where I live) or Melbourne route would be fantastic. There's a reason why I only purchased 2 U.S routes in the time I've played TSW (namely Harlem Line and Boston Sprinter). It's because the rest aren't a) my cup of tea, or b) are downright trash. The other 3 U.S routes I have were shoved in my face (the base American routes). Great video by the way, and looking forward to the next review / discussion!

Finally a video that needed to happen. I won my bet that the US route would be delayed past 3 months, my parlay bet was when a U.S. route is released, it’ll have less than 3 locos, in California or New York, zero switching, and commuter crap. Watch the live chats for any dovetail TSW roadmap, 90+% are wanting and expecting more information on what US route will come and we continue to be told to “stay quiet “ and “stop asking” ignored, and more British/German routes shoved down our throats. I’m all for long distance freight, slow and heavy, clinchfields route layout is what I expect, not linear point a to point b routes with every.single. Branch line. Cut off with zero industry switching. And when we do get routes they are by far the most broken routes released. We continue to get screwed and runaround answers as to why the long distance Amtrak trains have still not been added. Horseshoe curve has friggen FOUR YARDS AND ONE SINGLE SWITCHING SCENARIO. we deserve better, and a route that has long distance freight, local road industry switching, yard switching, passenger service, and excursion services.

something that pisses me off for NA Commuter Rail dlc's is how incomplete they are. For instance, Boston Sprinter. The MBTA doesn't only run a F40 and comet single-level railcars, they have bi-levels from Kawasaki and Hyundai Rotem, GP40's, and the MPI HSP46's, all of which are non-existent. CSX also has local freight service along the N.E.C, and Dovetail had the audacity to show CSX freight locos in the yards but no services for them at all. Not to mention the Providence line service isn't even complete! T.F Greene Airport and other subsequent stations in Rhode Island arent even existent, making the service terminate at Providence. Plus the buggy mess of all the wheels having that shity motion blur bug existent in TSW2 being ported over into the newer installations. Im a MA resident myself and i feel like this was an insult to the MBTA - leaving out so much potential. i hope Dovetail can pick up their slack and lock in on accurately replicating US routes like you said.

The South Shore Railroad, Metra Racetrack, and Sounder South would all be fantastic additions if they would bother especially Sounder south because of the great scenery and its so busy with freight and passenger service It would also the SC-44, F59PHI, F40PH Cab Cars, and MP40PH-3C And of course the Talgos And yes i might be a bit biased because the Sounder south is in my hometown of Seattle but its an interesting route with lots of rolling stock variety and an assortment of services with both Amtrak Cascades, Sounder, BNSF intermodal freight, and the Amtrak Coast Starlight but also Tacoma rail

I agree with your viewpoints. U.S content is usually worse than British and German routes. While DTG may be based in Europe, there is no reason why they should be rushing routes like NY-TRENTON out the door. It's a shame because U.S routes do have the potential to be good, but DTG clearly don't want to put the effort in to make them special

I can mention one signal/timetable bug that I have only ever experienced on Harlem line and NEC: Trenton, literally having the train behind you sitting right behind you, because apparently the AI decided that you could share a block.

I would actually recommend giving the New York to Trenton route another chance. They’ve since fixed the frame rate issue, and while it’s still not perfectly smooth, it’s much more playable than before. And in my experience the timetable is actually quite busy now, and is much more realistic to real life. That said, I understand if you don’t want to touch it again. I’m personally fine with the lack of US routes as of recent since they’re basically just doing the same ideas over and over again, and I’d rather have a half decent British or German route rather than another American freight route. And much as I would like to see another American commuter route being an American myself, I’d rather that they expand into new territories. We already know that Union Workshop is making a route based in Asia, so I hope that turns out to be good.

Now I have to say I like the freight trains Where I get mad at dovetail is they don't connect. The antelope valley line connects to Mojave desert station Connecting back to Barstoll, California And from down San Bernardino, California, you can connect to LA Union station and LA dockyard and show how these massive big trains are built And back to the antelope valley line, it could connect to Bakersfield Going over the very famous Tehachapi mountains We're just like you get on the horseshoe curve in Pennsylvania. You can see the train Passover itself. The reason why most people are bored on the California routes is because all 4 routes are not put together If you put all 4 routes together, it'd be long, but yes, it'd be exciting. And you probably would never get bored Down to the big major city of LA up to the desert of Barstow, California.. And the mountains of Bakersfield, California Now, when you get to New York and the metro northern railroad, it is not finished. The last stop is not White Plains, New York. And you can add the Connecticut railroad, that runs alongside of it And it would be nice to see the Long Island railroad finished as well I've suggested this to dovetail, and I said just make people pay for the add-on maps. But finish these roots You're only driving half of the roof That's pretty much what I got to say about that I do hope 1 day they do. Listen to me and finish the roots and connect the roots.

I think DTG Harshly dislikes American Routes (I think). I mean, we haven't got a loco add-on for Metro North and MBTA. Like push-pull. For MNRR, i really wanted to see the P32AC-DM With shoreliner ii, iii, and IV cab car and coaches, and For MBTA, I wanted to see either the GP40MC, or HSP-46, and even the non-rebuilt F40PH-2C Loco Motive with Kawasaki Bi-level cab car and coaches, and BTC/CTC-1B Cab Car and coaches. (Well the shoreliners and BTC/CTC-1B cars were basically Comet coaches) and i really wanted to see the P42, HHP-8 and the Legendary AEM-7 for Amtrak. But DTG, (I called them the Distroying Train Games) Only care for the European Routes. Is basically the German routes is the Oldest sibling, and the UK Routes is the Youngest sibling. And the US is basically the Middle sibling. The oldest has less love and more hate, the youngest has the most love, and the middle is the most less love out of the 2. Is basically the Oldest and the Middle get somewhat care, but is mostly Germany and UK getting the good stuff. While the Americans have to suffer what we have. I think if someone filed a lawsuit against DTG, it would wake them up, start making good quality routes, and start slapping Rivet and Skyhook Games to start making better routes, for the customers. I was thinking of getting the Cornwall route, but now I can't cause how many negative reviews the route has. I better off getting the Island Line (2022) and the Blackpool Routes.

Great review agree with everything you've said I'm British but the US players do get treated badly really which is shocking the way New York to Trenton was released was appalling I'm glad I didn't waste money on it we need more routes like Preston to Blackpool by just trains that is a brilliant route shows how much effort they've put in and not rushed it out

Whilst I agree with your sentiments, DTG have stated that their biggest selling routes are German and British. They also stated players prefer fast passenger routes. Also none of the companies producing content for TSW are based outside of Europe so are barely in touch with anything rest of world related. Sadly the DTG management team are accepting of slapdash standards with what appears to be a business approach of "release it and forget it"

American freight is fantastic. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's boring. It means you don't like it.

My route choices for a Welsh route Cardiff Central - Barry island (TFW or arriva) or Swansea - London Paddington with GWR. Northern Ireland a line from Belfast I ain't an expert so comment the lines you want.

I also found another bug on new york to trenton. Sometimes the AI forgets to close the doors on the NJT so they sometimes ride with doors open 😒

I want them to add the Canadian National Missabe subdivision for many reasons. One is the challenging grades, with the sweet CN/DMIR SD45T-2’s hauling the ore cars

i wouldnt be mad if they just import from tsc. idk why they made the short harlem line when they had the hudson line or the new haven line already made for tsc and they made the harlem line short. if they wanted to make a short route they should have just done the flushing 7 line. it has peak express and mostly all stations are above ground. i question how a route get gets to be made sometimes. Tell me why I had an argument with a fan boy who was trying to make TSW 4 sounds god like and not understanding that having a single game with long term development and support would've been better and right now we should only be at TSW 2 not 4.

As an american i can certainly say that you are right and i've always felt that we always got the short end of the stick on almost every release, my theory (no bases on it) is that we americans probably make the smallest fraction of their playerbase hence they don't have to put much effort on the routes because if they loose us is not going to be that big of a deal if as if they loose their entire european playerbase, just something i came up with funny enough sand patch, anyways keep up the good work and for bringing this problem to the light. On a side note i noticed a while ago during the Tsw 2 era that american content was very sparce comparing it to europe... And we are still in that trend as they say good to see the old traditions are being kept

Very good video! It's frustrating to play routes like the default German ones such as Koln and then see NY map have so little detail and just feel "dead". Another thing about Train Sim "World" in my opinion, is that the game should feel alive. Many of the British routes have lots of AI traffic but the US ones seem so dead. This is the main reason I'm still on TSW3 and not 4. It seems like a waste of money for nothing new.

My main issue with American freight is the sound design. I live in an area where bnsf and UP pass by my house all the time and you can feel and hear the gevos when they pass by you.

The Clinchfield I feel has one of the best designed journey modes. It's single biggest flaw is the complete lack of switching services. Apparently at one point there was talk of adding a GP7 to it, and I imagine that would have added some, but of course that would mean actually giving a US route an actual semi decent locomotive add-on.

Here's hoping the next USA route is a commuter or passenger. If they dropped a Metra add on I'd buy it so fast 😂

I think its the general market demand isn't as strong in the US compared to the UK or Germany. America isn't a rail known country potentially making them more likely to get away with for quality and content.

Should've mentioned how lazily they incorporated the locomotives to Cane Creek Sub. They're just reskinned from the Sand Patch Grade, meaning they have the wrong horns, and certain features like numberboards (for the ge's) and headlight control (for both) just don't work.

Dovetail doesn’t give us customers to serve(freight), it’s 2024 and I’m STILL waiting for the Pacific Surfliner to be released or announced. Also don’t get me started on the ai trains committing SPADs

I'm going to be real, I wholeheartedly agree. Although I only have 4 of the American routes, the Quality in UK/German based routes (as rarely as I play them) are much, MUCH better. One of my biggest problems came from the fact the American routes they've "released" or at the very least shown off i.e. The LIRR and the Sand Patch grade are... Bad The LIRR is done with so minimal effort they couldn't bother to finish some of the easier branches i.e Port Washington, Huntington and West Hempstead, and have the trains end in spots like Woodside, Hicksville (less bothersome but still mildly irritating) and St. Albans. All just outside the relative territory. As for Sand Patch Grade, I don't hate freight runs, however its hard to like them when the locomotives despite following the general directions post-tutorial, don't want to function... Added note, I think this also applies to Train Sim Classic as well where some American routes are just garbage or riddled with bugs and had been for years *cough* NYC-PHILLY/Trenton *COUGH*

Been train simming gfor a long time i completely agree with ur statements. I've pretty much jumpped ship from dovetails brand all together i hardly play TSW and Train Simulator Classic anymore. I've jumpped ship over to Trainz Railroad Simulator. I recently had a friend come to me complaining theres no flight simulator level of simulator for train sims that focuses on both graphics and physics and ive pretty much told him i highly dought anything is gonna come to that level the only two sims id honestly recommend right now if you want really good physics Run8 Train Simulator is the game for you if u want just good pretty graphics and semi decent kinda physics then Trainz Railroad Simulator 22 is def worth it with thousands of content for the game the ease of content creating for it and route building.

Yet there would be a few lovely Welsh routes, albeit probably too long for TSWs usual releases... North Wales - Chester to Holyhead could use multiple DMU Classes Mid Wales - Machynlleth to Aberystwyth/Pwllheli or Shrewsbury to Swansea via Heart of Wales route South Wales - Numerous routes beyond Cardiff and Swansea But as previously stated, all these choices would be too long for TSWs usual release style. Shortest, would probably be a good 50 miles (Machynlleth - Pwllheli)

More to the point CN why doesn't DTG have US Steam Locomotives which there are quite a few of not to mention some unique and unusual steam locomotives there I.E The Shay, Climax and The Hystler types. Or even Big Boy 4014 or FEF-3 number 844. I mean there's quite a few preserved railroads that have these and more even a preserved former Santa Fe Locomotive number 3751.

Believe me, we are used to it by now. NA fans have been getting bent over backwards for 10+ years. Every once in a while we get gems like the CSX Hannover Subdivision or Mount Shasta Line on TSC but the vast majority of NA content is complete dog and isn't worth the full asking price

Dtg also have more german and uk experts in their team (employees, contractors, 2nd party, etc) and beta team. Of course being based in the uk means dtg has better connections with uk companies. Of course like you mentioned, there are no US 3rd parties. The editor should resolve that once cooking content becomes available. Flying and getting access to reference material in the US isn't the issue. Dtg could do that, but they first need a license and permission from the train operator. Some operators like mta are very restrictive and don't let dtg get record their trains and get professional photographs. Class 1 operators are also restrictive. Some operators are really friendly like caltrain or amtrak. So it really depends on the license. In order for your suggestion of a hhp8 or aem7 to be appropriate, the nec has to be backdated because they no longer run during the time boston sprinter is set. Other loco addons are probably better if it released as part of a new route rather than as a loco dlc so the gameplay to cost ratio is appropriate. We can only hope for improvement given the circumstances. If there were more 3rd parties and the editor works properly, then we would see an increase in quality.

More rolling stock would be great for Amtrak in tsw4. I love American routes, as I'm American myself, and playing with the same amfleet coach class cars and one acs-64 locomotive is draining. I also realized they have most of the services of Amtrak, Silver Meteor, Northeast Regional, Vermonter, yet... they're all displayed as amfleet cars?? No baggage cars. No Sleeper cars. Just Amfleet? As I see it if your not gonna give us another amtrak loco to drive, at least give us the right cars.

From what I've been told dtg lacks any representative from the US. They have ones from Germany and of course the UK but the US is none. This has shown even with some old ts routes too.

If TSW4 does do a Sherman Hill update, I strongly recommend Union Pacific Bigboy locomotive as a free update pack seeming that 4014 does do excursion runs

I feel the Amtrak license is very very underutilized in this game. It’s a good Passenger brand that has much more potential if Dovetail would ever bother to add more rolling stock and actually make routes that have a good concept.

If you bring any of these points up in the community the fanboys go crazy. They are the reason i have dropped the game plus the lack of good American routes. Dovetail's North American content is really disappointing... I remember being excited for Oakville subdivision, some Canadian content for a Canadian like me. It ended up to be pretty garbage. Yes, IRL the OSD gets a fair amount of action,but Canada has so many interesting subs, gorgeous landscapes, and they picked an industrial, ugly, dirty part of the Greater Toronto region. And it didn't even capture the feel of the area. I could tell it was Oakville and Hamilton by the track layout. The map itself was generic AF. I'm sure DTG could make a ton of cash with a good NA route, the US being a large market and tends to be more patriotic than others. And DTG sure does like money, but just easy money, greater effort for greater reward isn't their cup of tea

Funny how every time they make a us route, they can never finish the entire route. Ex: Harlem line doesn't go to Wassaic or Southeast. and they never add the entire fleet we only get 1 locomotive and 1 type of rolling stock.

Every station has many problems with trains clipping platforms, no concourse and wrong UK style PIS screens.

At least the US market gets something.

But Dovetail look at there sales figures and UK and especially Germans are simulation fanatics. So money is always what is comes to with Dovetail

I absolutely hate the MBTA game. They use rolling stock thats not even used anymore. They used the F40, the most COMMON train in the US. The horns are not even accurate, with the CTC-3 MBB train having a higher pitched F40 horn. The F40 does not even use an accurate K5LA, and it sound like a sped up trumpet.

What you probably don't understand is the Enormous Freighters that you talk about are what moves America every day-to-day Not the Passenger Trains, if American Freight trains stopped tomorrow so would all of America Not the other way around as Passenger Service. Intercity Subways yeah move workers to their jobs but most of Amtrak suburban lines don't make the kind of Billions of Dollars that The Enormous Freight Trains you speak of make in a day, and rightfully own unlike the small line Amtrak owns, yeah if you didn't know Amtrak only rents their lines through a shared agreement to the Freight Railroad trackage lines there using, Amtrak only owns 623 miles of trackage for Real. United States isn't Europ and when you get that you'll understand why us American's love their Freight trains more than Passenger Service. Back in the day 1930's to late 60's yeah Passenger service was booming great but ask hundred American players what they would like more an old-school map or Modern and 70% will say Modern over Old-school because let's face it DTG track record on making a good product isn't golden and if they would make an old-school route well, they would have to make American Steam and it shows they have No interest in doing that because TSW3 released its first Steam Engine and before TSW4 release DTG could have had American Steam in the Game but didn't choose to do so, which says they're not interested in American Steam. American Passenger service is used more by inner city subways Not by Amtrak or any other Passenger service in the US but Subways going by money income. outside Cities Amtrak and other small, indented lines help as well as small tourist lines fill in those gaps of Passenger services but are mainly ran using Old Classic Steam Engines, which goes back to having American Steam in game. DTG has back themselves into a corner that they made.

You thought Harlem line was better than LIRR, despite being only 24mi and completely linear, and with bugged physics on the rolling stock (the god mode brakes)? LIRR has 4 termini, 2 being underground stations, 2 branch lines and more realistic handling rolling stock, even if the visuals aren't up to the standard of newer DLCs. I want to like NEC: Trenton because there's a lot more going on compared to Boston, but as literally everyone mentions it has some performance issues, though I don't get too many stutters with it, I get worse performance with AVL and Blackpool. I've not played any of the American freight routes.

The fact DTG sometimes doesn't respect the source material of an American locomotive, how could they get away with including an F7A on CJP without appropriate passenger Rolling stock... OR The SD70ACe which was all fine.... till they used the Goddamn Thundercabs numbering... As for me i dont care for America Freight Routes as they are very stereotypical... Part of the problem is: YOU. You buy this shit for years, so don't complain. I am glad if you enjoy the experience launcher TSC or TSW. Driving in a straight line up and down for 45 min each way. The state of the train sim genre is because people like you want more trains or tunnel routes. No, what this experience launcher needs is a connected real rail network where you can enjoy the simulation for more than 45 minutes until the map ends. Why does the ICE route end after 1 stop, it is for Call of Duty kids not for simulation enjoyers. Joking with you, more like the majority of the train sim folks. I feel like this genre is just for trainspotters and so far behind flight simulation, racing sim, combat sim, truck sim.

Yep, sure! If something doesn't come from the USA, it's basically shit for you. TSW is the optically and technically world's best TRAIN SIMULATOR in a simulated real world, which you don't even have. Do anyone of you have a better alternative for something like this on your computer? Most of TSW's users are in Europe, not in the USA. Then get your great MS flightsimulator developers to work on such a real train simulator project. But they won't be interested in technology and landscape in Europe outside from USA.
