Thanks Rachel for all the helpful info that is clearly explained. I like that you are able to show us the features of the tow float when you’re out of the water, as well as a quick demo of how they perform in the water. I’m going to order a tow float for myself, and this video was super informative. I think I’m able to find the Zone3 brand (the pink one in the video) in a triathlon shop here in my province. I always try to order as local as possible. I found it really helpful to see this actual brand shown here in your video. Thanks again, I always love your vids!! 🌎💦Ⓜ️ary

@@EverydayAthleteRach Yes, the Zone3 tow float has arrived... it looks great!! I have not tried it out yet… BUT I should have had it with me yesterday because while I was swimming at a remote lake about 30km north of my house, a float plane came in and landed at the rustic mini-dock. Sometimes guide/outfitters will use this little lake to re-supply, as it is a fairly close access point to their hunting or fishing territories north of us. They drive the supplies and/or clients up to the lake, and then fly them in. My partner was canoeing while I was swimming, so we were visible (our cedar strip canvas canoe is bright red… very visible). We know these people, so my partner went ashore to help them load the float plane while I continued to swim. I swam close to the shore so the float plane would not have to worry about where I was in the water during take-off. It’s kinda fun having a float plane buzz over top of ya when swimming!! For sure I will check out your playlist for some hints on how to swim with a tow float. Thanks 🌎💦Ⓜ️ary🏊‍♀️

@@marycharlebois6627 the float plane must have been really exciting. Not often you see them from below! It’s the kind of thing we see on documentaries over here!

Great video, really helpful :) I just have a question - does anyone know if there's a weight limit of what you can put in these bags before they stop being able to float? I want to hike with boots etc and put all my kit inside to go swimming
@EverydayAthleteRach
@EverydayAthleteRach 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I would be surprised if you could put so much stuff in it that it wouldn't float. I've had mine completely stuffed before blowing up the inflation chambers and it floats just fine. Unless your boots are made of lead, I think you'll be ok. Consider getting one with the removable back pack option like those by swim secure or lomo watersports..

@@EverydayAthleteRach Thanks so much for your reply and wisdom! Will definitely be looking at the different options (I watched your vid about the rucksack-style one). I love to just walk and find places to wild swim but always hate leaving my stuff on the shore so these seem perfect :)

if you're blowing air into it, why is it necessary to get all the air out first? And do you not put things into it first?
@EverydayAthleteRach
@EverydayAthleteRach 2 жыл бұрын
You squeeze the air out of the dry chamber to be able to roll the top and make it watertight. You blow air into separate buoyancy chambers to make it float high in the water and make you visible 🏊‍♀️😀
