I used to call it the magic purse. Even up to today it remains a mystery how my grandmother and her friends (we called tias) fitted so much in the bag. My grandmother's friends use to come visit on Sundays around 3:00 pm on time for coffee. . . From the magic bag they pulled butter cookies (mantecaditos) "bombones", breads,guava pastries, umbrellas, soaps, praying books, the rosary, chocolate bars for hot chocolate, pictures and if it rain a plastic "thing" to cover their freshly done "beauty parlor" hair. Of course before leaving they would pull out their wallets and givee us money for caramelos, helados or any "tonterias" we wanted to get. . . " Such heart warming memories. . .thanks for this video.

Even though I am not apart of the Latinx community, me being half black and white, my grandma's bag is magical. Especially with the Vick's, hard candy, packets of sauce(especially hot sauce), the roll of toilet paper (because you just don't know when you need it), lotion, body spray, change everywhere. 😂

Lol those strawberry and caramel candies!!! And all those sugar packets... My mom carried a rosary she got from Vatican City when she was in her 20's in her purse, it still smelled of crushed rose petals. =) But you did forget the 30 year old address book with the names and addresses of people written so small you have no idea who they are.

My fave is when abuela pulled digits from the foot doctor. Haha 😂. I used to love going through my mom’s purse finding treasures. My fave was pulling out a kitchen knife from my mami’s purse and giving her a weird look. She would yell at me saying “It’s for the chinas!” My mom loved her oranges and grapefruit. Good video, Jenny. Thank you for the smiles and memories.

Haha how was the blade protected ? I (french-german) always have a foldable knife with me, an Opinel, or a swiss army knife, cuz you never know when you'll have to cut bread, cheese, or sausage, or, in the case of the army knife, open a bottle of wine, or cut nails, or need a pair of tweezers...

Ancalìmon Loweene sometimes she would wrap it with paper towels which did not work. The tip of the knife always poked through. Haha. I have to say it was handy. Yes, my mom has used the knife for the hard salami and for the edam cheese.

@@JennyLorenzo It's every "old lady purse" no matter where you are from but it gets weirder the older you get and more and more stuff with the decades. That's when you know you are getting up there, when your purse goes from can't fit a tampon in it to could hold an entire 99 cent store and probably does! :) LOVE your work, girl! Jenny. My grandmother on my mom's side fue de Costa Rica and sadly hasn't been with us for a little over 20 years. She had two dice y los numeros de telefono de gente but would never put their names on the paper so it was always a guessing game. LOL. When I was a kid she always had the paquetitos de azucar y sal and yes at weddings we always took the centerpiece home. She was a good woman with a tough, broken heart. Tu sabe our people struggled. Plus my aunt is married to the son of Cubans so we know the deal and when you put these vids up I am reminded of his aunts. We are based in New York and think your talents far exceeds anything KZfaq can offer you. Te queremos abuela!! 😍

Thank you for making these so easy to understand. I’m half Hispanic but all the Spanish I’ve learned has been in school. I relate to these videos but I don’t have the language skills to always understand. You talk with a good speed and with simple enough vocabulary that I get most of what you say. You’ve helped me identify more with my culture, to feel less alienated from one of my ethnicities.

This was amazing. I'm like a crazy fool, first I laughed especially when she pulls out the floral table arrangement. Then I cried.....literally when her accent and mannerisms reminded me of a precious woman around abuela's she, which happened to flee Cuba in the 80's, died a few years ago. This is PHENOMENAL work.

Jenny i have said this a thousand times. Cuban grandma is my favorite. She is so funny. She is prepared always for anything and everything. She has the best advice. Someday i would really love to interview her for my youtube channel. So call her up and talk to her and see if she would love to be a guest on Fearsman26 on KZfaq. My God yes! I was going to watch this video at work, I'm glad I didn't do it. I laughed out loud and almost fell from my seat when she said this. My co-workers would have thought I was nuts.

Maja makeup! My mom used to wear that powder all of the time when I was a child. It's a smell I will always recognize everywhere.
