I feel like this is the most realistic one of these I’ve ever watched. And holy cow- you fit so much stuff in there so neatly!! I love the idea of the smaller organized bags inside the suitcase. This helps a lot!

Hi Erin! I have been following you for a few years. You were such a help to me when I was applying for VIPKID, and I'm so excited for your next adventure! I have an almost 4-year-old. My son was 9 1/2 pounds and I had a completely natural birth. It's crazy what our bodies are capable of. I started to labor at 2:30 in the morning. I tried to stay in bed, but the contractions became more and more consistent, so I got up at 5:30 and bounced on my birth ball and watched Parks and Rec until I went to the hospital at 8:30. By the time I got to the hospital, I was already 7 centimeters dilated! I would say that by 10:30 or 11 the contractions became more and more intense. Movement was key for me. I paced back and forth in my room and visualized water. I am a swimmer, so I visualized my hand cupping the water and pushing it under my body. When the contractions were really bad, my husband found the pressure points on my hips and pushed my hips together as hard as he could. The counter pressure helped SO much! Our labor nurse suggested this tip. Once the pain is too much, then lean into it. It may get to a point where you cannot visualize positive thoughts or zen yourself out. You just have to embrace it. Believe that you can. Overall, it's good to have a birthing plan, but you also want to have an open mind to let go of expectations. For snacks, I didn't have much of an appetite. Part of this is because my adrenaline kicked in, and I was so focused that I just wasn't that hungry. What did help was we took a box of all-natural popsicles to the hospital and they put them in the nurse's freezer for us. I gave birth in a small hospital, so it wasn't that big of a deal. If you take a tour of the labor ward you can always ask them. In my overnight bag, I just brought some loose-fitting clothing. I also gave birth during the summer, so I wanted something that had a lot of breathability. Honestly, I don't think I wore a bra the entire time I was in the hospital. Other than that, I didn't overthink it. I packed a lot of the normal stuff that you would pack if you would go anywhere overnight. My opinion on the Boppy is that it's not necessary. The first few days of nursing your baby won't be like all the other times. When I was just learning how to nurse and figuring out how to get him to latch, I found my most comfortable position to be with me laying on my side. If you find yourself being more comfortable sitting up, then there are always pillows. Ultimately, it's up to you, but it just becomes another thing to pack. I hope you don't find all of the overwhelming. I think you're going to great! Your baby girl will be beautiful and perfect regardless of your birthing experience. Sending you lots of prayers and positivity.

Wow! I truly find this all very helpful and love hearing other people's stories. I was a 9 pounder too and my mom did it all natural, so I know my body can do it. I love hearing how you visualized through your contractions. I hope I'm able to find my own way to stay above the water so to speak!

@@HeyErinPayne You can do it! It truly is a lot of mind over matter. You may only have your husband in the room with you, but you have a larger group of people cheering you on.

Was there anything that you were SOOOO glad that you brought with you to the hospital during your labor and delivery stay? I'm so curious about everyone's personal experience. Please, let me know!

Congratulations Erin! I wish I was as prepared as you. Where was your video when I had my children lol. I have had two children and both labor experiences were very different. My daughter’s labor was around 18 hours. I did most of it at home. I got to the hospital and had an epidural (I wanted one from the beginning). I slept until it was time to push. My son’s labor and delivery was very different. I started feeling contractions around 8:30 at night. Contractions were very inconsistent. Having had a baby before, I knew I could wait. Well, I was wrong lol. Left for the hospital at 10:45pm. Contractions were progressing quickly. By the time I got to the hospital and they were wheeling me back, I was pushing lol. I couldn’t help it. My body was telling me to. I didn’t even have time to register in the hospital, because when they checked me, I was crowning lol. Took my pants off and had my son at 11:36pm. Only was in labor 3 hours. The doctor told me if I had waited any longer, I would have had my son in the car. Lol. I loved my son’s natural delivery. It was neat to see how your body naturally reacts. It was very cool. I wish you the best and an easy labor and delivery. What a wonderful experience you’re about to have. I’m so happy for you and your husband.

Love hearing your story. That's so crazy that your second labor was THAT much quicker! The plan is to have this baby as pain medication free as possible. Call me crazy, but I really want to know what it all feels like-pain and all!

@@HeyErinPayne I was the opposite lol but I am so glad I got to feel it with my second. The body is an amazing thing and being able to feel it was a blessing. I love your content and this video. Thank you for bringing us on your journey.

Love Sara Lavonne! I’d also recommend checking out Nurse Zabe. She also has a lot of useful information. The peppermint helps so much with nausea. My nurse this last time (just had my second baby in March ☺️) opened an alcohol wipe and waved it in front of my nose and it was almost instant taking the nausea away as long as I kept one close I felt way better!! As far as the boppy goes, I personally brought it my first labor. However, I found I didn’t really like it. My belly wasn’t deflated in the first day or two enough to make it comfortable to put around me and use to nurse with. It was just awkward and didn’t really fit lol At home I love it. I did not take it the second labor and I didn’t miss it at all 🤷🏼‍♀️ With the bras, the main reason you will want to wear one is because while your milk is regulating, it leaks everywhere. Takes a few days for the milk to come in though so the first days won’t be a big deal. I didn’t wear one in the hospital. Only my gown but it was half on just enough to make myself presentable if someone walked in 🤣 Also, they have some really inexpensive ones that have the clip with no underwire on Amazon if you decide you want to try that style. They have them in 3 packs, 5 packs etc 100% use the nipple butter BEFORE you need it. It will help prevent/minimize the pain later. I used my religiously and put it on after almost every feed the first several weeks. This time I think it was about 6 weeks and then it was a little sore but bearable. Another week or two after that no pain really. Think it was slightly longer time frame first baby though. Can’t remember. Something I’ll bring next time is something to sit on in the bed. I have no idea what, but something 😅 My hospital bed was soooo hard and after the baby was born they did add a little pad, but it didn’t do much. My tailbone was sore making recovery even more uncomfortable than needed to be. Ohhh and idk if I missed it but just in case, don’t forget chapstick! I remember someone I saw in a video recommended that and I was like yeah okay. But then my lips really did get so dry and I was so glad I had it. I’m not sure if it was the hospital air or because I had an epidural, but just take it lol

Yes! I love nurse Zabe! And thank you so much for all the tips. I already wear chapstick religiously, so if I forget mine I'm literally making Austin go buy me some lol!
