@@bowtiesandcigarettes I agree we should use our bags and not baby them. Jane’s original Birkin, the one I saw in pictures looked really worn and torn in some spots. These days we don’t use just one bag for years like in the old days so to get it to that condition involves some degree of rough use hence my impression that she’s cavalier with her birkins.

@@livingaloneover50 I mean, from interviews I've seen with Jane she doesn't seem like the most self absorbed or vain person. I'm pretty sure if she'd be about to pay for it, she'd treat it the same way. I think she is aware of how luxurious these bags are, but just isn;t impressed by that fact

The woman is a legend for a good reason .. she’s authentic, real, unpretentious, has depth & character all of that is what makes her the Jane birkin .. forever my fav style icon. And yes ppl use the bag .. it’s just a bag! 🙏🏻

I love this woman, she's such an icon of French chic, so lovely and care free. Her daughter Charlotte is amazing too, fabulous actress and they have the same voice. I want to be their friend but who wouldn't want to be?

Look how care free, gentle, unpretentious, real and down to earth she is. Talking about the bag thats been designed for her and she gives no damn. Hangs things on it bcs it creates happy sound! So many vulgar women who have no idea about anything other than their plastic surgery and guys with fat wallets, renting a chair at the cinema or asking for extra chair at the restaurant to put their Birkin bag on🤦‍♀️ People like Jane Birkin are so rare to find these days.

@@SH-op9hc I disagree with you and am able to express my feelings however I want. It's not tearing other women, this is the reality. Strong women, women power.. remember? If so, we as women, should be able to handle the reality about everything. Not cherry picking. That's the problem with the society, toxic feminism is as bad as toxic masculinity. We, regardless of our gender, should grow some strength to handle the reality, other than forcing ppl for silence because someone may get offended easily, therefore pushing ppl to walk on eggshells... Come on. There is free speach. And this woman is an epitome of class for me, unlike lots of pretentious out there. Besides, people have freewill. Instead of putting the blame on society and how these kinda behaviours accepted, we take responsibility of our actions. Otherwise let's all not take any responsibility and do whatever is acceptable and avoid whatever is not by the norm. Then everything and everyone would be the same.

Can anyone help to identify size and leather of the bag? I assume its B35, black togo phw?

It seems more like Clemence. Togo usually has veins and the grains are smaller, also a has a little shine Clemence is more matte finish. And the grains are much bigger. I zoomed in on the bag and it looked like that. Also, clemence is much slouchier than togo. This bag slouches and bulges. It looks so chic when Jane Birkin carries it tho The size is definitely a 35cm. The first original Birkin bag was a 35cm and that’s what Jane Birkin has carried ever since.

J’ai appris que des grands couturiers auraient voulu aussi de beaux grands sacs pour leurs modèles. En fait, la mode des grands sacs serait venue de l’ exemple de Jane: en somme, si les grandes maroquineries n’avaient pas suivi son intuition sur les besoins des femmes de sa génération, les choses auraient été sans doute bien différentes aujourd’hui. Dans Jane B. par Agnès V. d'Agnès Varda, il y a une scène où elle déverse le contenu de ce sac sur des marches au Trocadéro à Paris : très réaliste ! 🤗
