Absolutely! I heard passthrough and my mind went directly to the IOMMU and PCIe and thought F&**)&$ FINALLY, but then was let down as it's LXC passthrough. Not sure why this can't be added as a simple check box with a check/balance on whether or not the commands are valid with the hardware (Intel/AMD/NVIDIA).

Thanks for the update! The unattended install is a great addition. Would also appreciate a focus on security; making sure Proxmox passes the various benchmarks (like CIS server 2 profile). An important issue is root access being enabled over SSH for clustering functionality. That's blocking for most enterprises.

Import from ESXi is a good step forward, but this only works if you have an entirely "new" physical host. There needs to be a wizard to mount an existing VMFS datastore LOCAL to the host and convert/import the VM's that way (you can already do this manually).

@movax20h Ай бұрын
Nice. Good work. I like all the small improvements in UI. Also like finally switching to nftables. There are still some changes that require manual modifications to the vm config file, that do popup sometimes. But are pretty rare. For example recently we wanted to setup unique and deterministic wwn / uuid / serial numbers (by default proxmox and qemu does not set them or set them to zeros) to some disk and nvme devices to the guest, and right now, the UI does not support that. But with config, it was easy to pass proper params to qemu. Then only missing part is better support for IPv6-only networks. The installer does not support IPv6 at all (which is worse than Debian installer). It also does not support more than one DNS server or DNS over IPv6. (While debian installer does) We do not care about LXC. While it is a lightway and nice. Docker would be a bit more welcome, but also not really needed. One can always spin up some other OS in the VM, and run docker or kubernetes there. I prefer my VM platform to be as simple as possible, otherwise it is easy to misconfiguration or mess things (like memory limits).

Lxc + podman (no docker please) would be a killer combo, but it would also complicate things too much. I agree that a VM with nested virtualization running podman is the best approach for now, with a panel like rancher or portainer it becomes easy to manage if needed

My suggestion to all who will update from older proxmox is to - first shut down all vms. It seems like something anyone half experienced would do anyway, but I failed to do that, and out of three proxmox machines, last one failed update and is not booting any more. For a moment I thought i've seen "...vga..." or something as its last breath, and then nothing. Machine had, among other things, 2 gpu passtrough, so it may be related to that. In any case, I blame myself, since reboot after update is expected anyway, so just... shut vms first.

I would like to see a feature that simples adding nfs shares to Lxc containers
@ewenchan1239
@ewenchan1239 Ай бұрын
You have that. After creating the unprivileged LXC container, go to options, and double click features, and then click on the checkbox for NFS. For privileged containers, the process might be more involved (potentially), but you don't need anything special. If you want to have system-wide access to a NFS share, mount the NFS share on the Proxmox host itself, and then pass the mount point through to the LXC container using the syntax: mp0: /path/to/mount/point,mp=/path/inside/container Put that into your .conf and there you go. Very simple. Then your container doesn't even need to have nfs-common installed.

Please slow the pace of the AI voice a bit (not too much, like 10-20%), and also add 1 or 2 seconds to the black screens because it's just too fast right now, you have to really focus to be able to read the full slide. Remember we can adjust the speed in youtube to make it faster but if it's too fast the dissortion will not dissapear, the default pace should be confortable and easy to follow, and we can adjust it manually to 1.25x or more if needed without much dissortion.
