For someone who is looking to adopt tank automation for the first time, how would you recommend they start out? What do you know now after implementing Apex or similar that you wished you knew when you were first starting out? Would you jump all in at once or build up slowly? For those on a budget, would you reccomend the ApexEL or A3 Apex?

One more question: Many reefers have had success "blindly" maintaining reefs with water changes alone or limited manual testing. Is there a tank size or tipping point at which implementing an Apex system makes more sense? Is it overkill for a nano reef for instance?

What are your thoughts about putting the liquid level sensor inside the overflow box? My Red Sea seems to be constantly tuned for either getting too high or too low and I don't know the movement until I start hearing it.

Do you think there will ever be an underwater camera for the Apex for viewing our tanks from the inside? I have external cameras but in the tank viewing would be fantastic.

How about a rc fish drone. Just a camera that swims around and you can connect it to your meta or whatever it is and live in your tank!

Question about the Apex Pro... I have Ecotech G5 lights, Vectra M2 return, and AI Nero5 pumps for flow in my tank. Now that Neptune, Ecotech, and AI are under the Aperture umbrella, will I be able to control all of that gear with the Apex in the future? Hoping to graduate from an Alexa enabled smart outlet to a tool actually designed for reefing. Thanks!

Ok. Here is one that I know everyone is itching to get answers. Not sure how much you can give away. But a hint would be awesome. What are the future plans for integration with the Neptune and other products like Vortrch, ,Nero, Radion, vectra, hydra etc.? It's been a burning question for me and I am sure so many other reefers. Excited for the different entry points and opens the door for on hand QT monitors that can double as a display backup in a pinch. Additionally, I suspect the time and resources put into these units laid the foundation to allow any UI changes that have been considered. Such as multiple alarm severity/frequency of notification levels.

Level monitor could have helped me discover that my RO/DI was tuning on too soon to refill the container and could have save DI resin from all added starts. Would also make estimating filter change schedules more accurate.

Fantastic announcement! Glad to see the continued support for the Apex series. In my setup I have rather large distance to cover between my aquarium and my RODI storage and mixing station. I’d love to monitor the mixing station as well as my aquarium with a single Apex unit. Of course probe cables don’t cover a large distance (20+ meters). Would it be possible to extend a Apex A3 pro with a Jr (or an evenmore lightweight solution such as a WiFi module) to bridge this distance in the same solution?

I watched the Apex video earlier in the day. I'm am a 74 year old former science teacher with a lot of interest in marine science. Many aspects of Neptune's Apex/Trident offerings truly baffle me. I am amazed at the possibilities to further my knowledge and ability to manage my aquarium. The data that is now available seem limitless and I am anxious to buy into the future.

Love Apex. Had one for years. Great products. I have to disagree about the salinity probe l, sort of. I agree that the salinity probe in its current form only offers so much. What’s it going to take to get a salinity monitor that we can actually use reliably? I’m sure I’m not alone here.

Yeah mine goes out of wack within a week of calibration. Or messes up while setting the correction for temp. Funny thing is if i leave it messed up i can judge it and it stays consistent

So much great information, I have been looking and contemplating an apex for a very long time, back in the day I used the original controller with the x-10 modules and thought how amazing is this I can turn stuff on and off when I want , monitor Temp, PH and or ORP. Fast forward to now I do not have a controller and given that most of my equipment at this point is app control based I am looking for a scenario to begin monitoring my system(parameters) with the thought that down the road I will be replacing components/ equipment and would like to be able to grow the system/ technology as needed .Ultimately I am looking for a solution to to get what I need without going overboard but ultimately have the ability to grow as needed. So I guess my question is given all the amazing things that an apex can do which system one would you recommend to get started with and why , money is an object so what is the most bang for the buck?

Currently I have a ReefDose 4. I would have to change to Neptune dosers to automate my dosing using Apex? Is there ever going to be third party plugins to control stuff like this?

I setup a tank at my wife’s business and she wasn’t cooling the office on the weekend. Fish were fine but Anemone melted. Installed a chiller since it was cheaper than running ac on weekends. 👍

Any chance iota will allow for connection with ecotech products now that the BRS parent company owns both brands? It works flawlessly with Kessil and I believe it would be a huge plus for the reefing community to be able to control the Gen 5 or new Gen 6 in fusion like we were able to with the wxm module and the Gen 4's

I am a Neptune supporter (A2, Cor, Skies, Trident and few other modules), I was sooo looking forward for a Apex Jr 2.0 (in this case A3), but I feel like it's a let down because it's a miss (in hit or miss). The reason why I wanted a Apex Jr again is because with old version (before they got discontinued), they were perfect for temporary quarantine tanks, especially with Tank Transfer Method where you have to line up two tanks perfectly (temperature and pH) with one tank that is running and other tank cleaned, dried and re-setup every three days (with each tank....DT and two Qtanks having little bit distance from each other so there's no cross contamination). You just need to control and monitor few things (keyword in this case is "control"). Price wise, buying two A3 normal apexes at $600 each for something that's temporary setup is nowhere near practical. Or did I missed something with A3 Apex Jr?

Is there a way to use the toggle box for triggering feed modes? The only thing I can find is timed on-off for all programmed devices for a specific time. I want to be able to stagger off-on like in feed modes

Thanks for an awesome informational stream! Here’s a question… One of the benefits that I like about the optical sensors in the ATK is the redundancy of having separate low level and high level sensors, as well as a float valve. How does the new liquid level sensor offer that level of assurance to convince a consumer to ditch the optical sensors and switch to the LLS as an ATO solution?

Any updates planned for the conductivity probe? Mine doesn’t work very well unless I constantly clean and recalibrate it. Easier for me to just manually test it and I can’t rely on the readings to trigger Apex actions.

If we were to upgrade from the A2 to the A3, how will migrating the tanks profile be handled? Will there be a “task” to run, so to speak? Or would it be something like saving the footprint and then just doing it all over again on the new unit?

I am so pumped for this new Pro release. Couple of questions. 1. I have the Apex that I 've had for about 6 months, will there be a trade-in/upgrade program. 2. If I get a Pro will I be able to backup the configuration on my existing Apex and then restore to the Pro or will I need to manually set it up.

Also, is there a way to control functions on the tank in case I can't make it home in the event of a tank emergency? Like, anything to mitigate the damage to the tank or biome? I think if I had an Apex I could keep a more stable tank to prevent outbreaks of Ich and keep a stable biome.

Can we use the new liquid level sensor to manage the ATO? Is it accurate and fast enough for that purpose? I see it potentially replacing at least 3 float or optical sensors: low sump, high sump (as a backup to stop the ATO and to stop the skimmer) and an imminent sump flooding sensor.

It would be great if you fixed the Salinity probe to accurately measure salinity, I use it to let me know when my salinity is too low but I always need either a hanna, Milwaukee or Refractometer.

Hey Ryan, I’ve never seen an Apex geared towards a nano tank. It’s no secret that nanos are more susceptible to all kinds of parameter swings. One can argue that it is even more critical to monitor and be able to control any swings that may happen. Would you agree or recommend an Apex for nano tanks or would you say that it is overkill?

I'm looking to setup an automatic water change system and my tank is in a different room to my saltwater mixing station (Which is in the garage). I am someone who is not fond of adopting one brands whole ecosystem and scoffs at the idea of a whole system controller. But I very much want the monitoring solution of water chemistry probes and leak sensors. Thank you for meeting Reefers like me half way. I found it hard to put a full Apex system onto my priorates list. But, a monitor only solution like the Jr. just went very high on my list. And the 3 sensors I most want are 3 of the 4 Apex included in the Jr. I also appreciated the conversation around the FMM ports. That was not self-explanatory looking at there overview page. As I'm very likely to upgrade to the new Optical Leak Sensor, if not run 2 of them... I also like the Alarm. I most certainly want an audible alarm for the house, if a leak detector gets tripped. That with Temp & pH are exactly what I was hoping for. Good addition, thank you

I don't yet have any monitoring on my 75 gal that had to be reset after a Ich outbreak. If I got a Apex Jr when it comes out, am I able to view the tank's data from a web portal or a computer app? I realize theres a phone app, but I do all of my tracking in an Excel sheet and am wondering how I could integrate the live data into a sheet where I can enter my other parameters, like NH4 and SG. I love the show and especially the live interviews! Looking forward to the H2O2 dip tests on corals, and the copepod results on the 12 experiment tanks. If I were chosen for an Apex, I'd use it to better understand the relationship between temp, pH and the surrounding air flow.

It doesn't look like the energy bars haven't been upgraded, are there any upgrades in the works for them? Also are the A3 controllers going to be available for a standalone purchase? The ethernet port on my A2 controller has failed but my energy bars are still working perfectly so I'd only like to get the controller if that's possible

If they just Sold the old apex without the energy bar, you had a monitoring only solution at less cost. They really want to just sell you their float switches vs generic. Pro, more expensive and removed 200 probe. They swapped the FFM for the variable. Should be same price.

Just wanted to throw out there, I have a RO hooked up on a float valve with a timer it's rare but if my skimmer ever goes crazy and my sal gets out of wack the apex sal probe is the device that has saved my tank.

I wish you would offer a trade in option for older apex equipment. I’ve got a classic but can’t run a trident and I would like to but don’t really feel like purchasing a whole new system.

Just sell your equipment to upgrade. No financial benefit for a small company to take back old products in trade.

@@billydanzz they could also take the old components and recycle them therefore cutting down on costs of manufacturing new products. I highly doubt these new pieces of equipment are that much different on the insides

Then you sell the old after the new is installed...that's how you make that transition. 2) If taking back old, used products for recycling allowed companies to cut costs and increase profits as a result, I'm pretty sure that would be a standard business practice for manufacturers. I'm guessing it isn't for a reason.

I’m not new to the hobby, but I’m new to all this tech. Could you explain how to use a DOSE as an auto water change? Or am I Mis-hearing that? Basically,I would like the ability to switch on a pump to drain and then reverse it (or switch on another) to fill right?
