The State of New York Court of Appeals overturned Harvey Weinstein's 2020 rape conviction Thursday and has ordered a new trial. Julie Rendelman, a criminal defense attorney, and CBS News national correspondent Jericka Duncan look at the possible reasons why it was overturned and what it means for Weinstein, who was also convicted of rape in Los Angeles in 2022.

This is the New York case. *He is a Rapist who will continue serving time for Rape.* There are Multiple Rapes & Sexual Misconduct. *Weinstein is Not going anywhere anytime soon. He'll still be in Prison.*

Is it really unusual to call character witnesses I doubt it or the first judge wouldn't have allowed it since the victims are typically discredited secondary witnesses can validate them. Like many metoo victims though they endure litigation abuses not just assault. Canada just had a similar disgusting situation with Nygard his predatory behaviour was an open secret and we'll documented police wouldn't charge him with anything for twenty years now just a few of his victims put him away his own son and ex wife were even ignored. Very disappointing but just further warning to people not to be overly optimistic about society being decent.
