Most ironic thing about this movie....they give the ENDING away in the opening credits.....YET you still think he's about to get away at the end. Like you shouldnt be surprised when Benny Blanco comes in a blows him away.

Yeah, it felt like Carlito was a Puerto Rican from Louisiana with his accent.

His accent was based on Jose Torres who wrote the book , who grew up in Spanish Harlem, who was actually a criminal judge by the time he wrote the book, if you ever watch any featurette of the making of Carlito's Way you'll see him and hear his voice and Pacino did a SPOT ON impression of him. Can't get more Authentic than that.

That's crazy.. I'm a Puerto Rican from the Bronx and that's how Puerto Ricans from Spanish Harlem used to sound in the 70s

@@bronxbomerpito7286 Yeah, I wish Rise to Power had of stuck to the Book. When I heard they were making I thought "Man that courtroom scene gonna be funny, I wanted to see a young Klinefeld and all that. The book was better.....although I think Carlito's Way (Pacino) was as good as the book After hours but they only made small changes. Rise to Power was a whole new, damn near alternative re imagining of Carlito

@@androlibre9661 yeah it's hard to reproduce the books.. but I think Brian the Palmer did as good as the job as could have been done.. and a higher production of rise to power which has been amazing

Oh, yeah, the subway scenes. The first time I saw those cars painted red was 1987. Red cars were not around, in 1975. And I'm 54, and been in New York, all my life!

I really enjoyed this movie but the thing I hate in movies is when they show what happens at the end of the movie in the beginning I'm like why do they do that

There was a scene towards the end where Carlito and Gail are in a Taxicab. The cab stops and Carlito goes to the bank to make a large withdrawal so they can escape to the Bahamas. Gail waits in the cab with the musical score playing sad, tense music. You can feel the worry and anxiety that Gail is feeling hoping their plan goes as planned. All of a sudden there's a loud knock on the window and the music stops, scaring the bejesus out of the audience. 😵‍💫 It's Carlito returning only about 10 seconds later with his $750K. I know movies move things along to keep the story going, but WOW, what bank did he have his money in? Banking in 10 seconds?? I want to bank there! Lol!

He wasn’t going to the bank he was buying train tickets. He kept his money in the safe at the club not in a bank either.

One thing that’s always bothered me is when Carlito unlocks the box to get his money. There’s supposed to be almost $70,000 dollars but its just 2 small bundles of hundred dollar bills. You’d have thought De Palma would have had the box filled with cash to make it more convincing.

Having worked as a bank teller, I can for sure say seeing $242k in cash was not that visually impressive. I was expecting to be at least slightly wowed. Fit in a very small space within a three drawer file cabinet sized safe.

Vintage Ham from Pacino. Should have been sponsored by the City of Parma. One cliche follows another relentlessly. And sad to see Jaime Sanchez in such a demeaning part .
