I believe the reason Mickey told Rocky his title defenses was set up's was to destroy Rocky's confidence so he wouldn't fight Clubber Lang. It was Mickey's way of protecting Rocky

Sure Clubber was much more proactive and driven than Rocky but it doesn't make him any less of a villain, he publicly harassed Adrian, shoved Mick down who was having heart failure. Apollo on the other hand was never a villain, sure he taunted Rocky but he attacked Rocky and Rocky alone not his wife or his trainer. You're partially right in regards to Eye of the Tiger, it is Clubber's theme at the beginning of the movie when it playing in the opening montage but when Rocky gets his "Edge" back he also reclaims the Eye of the Tiger which is why the song is played in the closing credits

I love the rocky movies but they use no defense when they box. No one covers up to protect from punches. If a real boxer took that many blows to the head they would be a vegetable.

Rocky switched things up in the second round for a reason, that was apparently forgotten about in universe. Both Duke and Apollo stated that at the pace the had Rocky going at, he had about 3 rounds . after that he would be all used up. Clubbers conditioning and strength would have secured him victory in the later rounds(say 6th or 7th) Rocky used that Ali vs Foreman tactic. But all of that was before Rocky took his training seriously and developed better conditioning. So like you said NQR,there was no reason for Rock to switch things up. I believe the production realised that fact, and had to create and audience standing up in the theater last act. Like they did when I first viewed the film during it's original release. Or I'm just over thinking

He was a brawler (not a very good one) who used his face as his defence and if it wasn't for Apollo wanting a rematch Rocky wouldn't had won the heavyweight title. Even though Rocky 3 is my second favourite movie in the franchise, some really valid points were made, both in favour and in disfavour for the movie 🎬. The rest of the Rocky franchise needs to be covered aswell. Also. I should add that Rocky took it on himself to fight Drago. No one pushed him into that. Sure he was motivated by Apollo's death, but he still took the initiative to make the fight happen.

Clubber Lang wasn't going to give Rocky a rematch until Apollo Creed taunted him like how he taunted Rocky in the second film 'Buy the Clubber chicken sandwich" name after the chicken Clubber Lang. Apollo knew what he was doing and it work. Clubber agree to the rematch
