What's Palia like on Switch?

This year has been a massive year for the cozy game genre, with many wonderful games coming out (especially in October) to keep even the most hardcore Cozy enthusiast busy. Palia has been out on PC for a few months now, and at the Game Awards last week, it finally settled on today as the release date. With almost 10 hours under my belt, playing since 3am this morning, I thought I would share my thoughts on the game so far. What's It Like? Sit back, chill out, and do whatever you please as we take a look at Palia on the Switch.

Is unplayable on switch, hunting and mobs despawn when u hit them, really bad fps drops and stutters….. I have very fast FTPS internet- this isnt due to my connection…………

That's good to know about the connection. My net is terrible so I thought it was due to loading. I just started hunting as I've unlocked the loom and is it just me or is it only the deer creatures with darker markings that disappear? Normal deer seem to be OK on mine with the exception of rough animations.

@@whatsitlikeauif you’re too far when shooting they will bug out and teleport/disappear, you have to be close enough to almost startle them to hit successfully. Seems like it’s just as glitchy for the Bahari striped chaapa & sernuks as it is for the regular ones in town. Definitely not our connections, it’s just still being patched

Apart from frame dropping which is expected I haven't had any problems in any 45 hours of play. I'm really loving the game so far

Loving it except how are to figure out some of it on switch is. Like I need to do requests....can't find requests

Press the Menu Button (+) and go down and select "Requests" from there, you should be able to request for any item you need and if you press ZR, you can select Requests from Groups, Friends and Others and give them items if you have the amount. Hope that helps.

Im enjoying the game rn but my one main issue is nintendo's design on the joystick controlers. SERIOUSLY I HAVE TO RASSLE WITH THE MOVEMENT BECAUSE OF DRIFT AND I HAVE TO BUTTON MASH TO GET OUT OF PLACEMENT MODE BC THERES SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY RIGHT STICK.

It's free to play on both Switch and PC! You just need to register an account on PC to play

Digital only at the moment. It's also online only as it's sort of an MMO, even though you don't have to interact with other players.

I'm so glad! They just released an update and it seems like it looks sharper... at the cost of performance. I'm still writing my final thoughts for the review and enjoying my time in the game so far!

Seems like a cool game to have on switch but it did drop at a bad time. These types of games are very time consuming. With lego fortnite just dropping not sure I want to be playing 2 of these grndy games simultaneously.

I get that. I'm a bit cozied out at the moment as there's been so many lately. Palia is the one I found most addictive so far. I'm about 20 hours in and haven't hit a wall yet

It’s not looking like THAT on switch, that’s what it’s not doing. It’s also extremely buggy, but it just launched on Nintendo, so I have faith the bugs will get ironed out. The limited clothing options unless you shell out $10-20 each outfit are another story….

I'm still playing it but finding there's really no need for it to be an MMO. Are you having a lot of interaction with other players? Latest patch seems to make performance better in some areas except for the main town.

looks real fun but man one major pet peeve I have in games is running animations... if they look cringe it just breaks immersion for me largely unfortunately!! I been having lots of fun with my life playing lego Fortnite... same cozy type of game & can share worlds with friends whether you're online or not if you grant them a "world key"

I was actually thinking the normal movement animation looks off but I can quite pick what it is. Maybe it's because the characters back stay straight? I'm not sure!

@@whatsitlikeauYES YOU GOT IT LMAO. It’s their backs that’s making me sick! I wish I every game had watchdogs 2 movement man the parkour and running and general movement in watch dogs 2 is so amazing… such a wasted set of animators though on a game no one really played very much lmao

Lego Fortnite isn’t really comparable, it’s geared towards very young kids that aren’t great at regular Fortnite gameplay. It’s nowhere near the level of community simulator that Palia is trying to be

God. Why can’t Nintendo just release the dang switch pro / 2 already. So many games that would be amazing on the switch if it just a tiny bit more graphic power. Ark, dying light, no man’s sky, etc etc, it wouldn’t take much to get these amazing ports running at a stable fps. Cmon Nintendo. Pokémon scarlet and violet are done now, bring on the next console

Honestly it’ll still be the same situation though. Nintendo is always gonna be behind other platforms in terms of graphics and performance, though not in creativity and sales. Once they release the Switch Pro it will be able to play higher end games compared to the current Switch, but at that point everyone will be wanting PS5 Pro or PS6 level games because our standards will have gone up. It’s always gonna be a generation or half a generation behind other platforms in terms of power and we are still gonna be having the same complaints. That’s why I only use the Switch for Nintendo specific games or indies, because MOST ports are gonna be the worst version of the game and often times more expensive than other platforms too.

@@JustACowThatLives really?! Damn, well slap me silly and call me Sally. That's quite the leap from 30fps (mostly) straight to 120fps. If that's true, then I'll be damned.

I would take a lot of these rumours with a grain of salt though Sally. Realistically I think the tech will be PS4 gen quality at a $600 aud price point. Here's hoping we get backward compatibility
