Zane was my first and I had fun with him and his voice lines.

After getting all the vault hunters to level 50 and beating tvhm with them on mayhems 2 and 3 I would have to say it was easiest to get thru the beginning of the game and beat it with amara. She’s the least gear specific out of all of them and can work with a larger variety of weapons imo

I love the sheer build diversity of Amara. It may be fiddly to switch out action skills, augments, and elements to suit the situation, but I'm not locked into a certain playstyle.

I agree that Zane is the hardest character to start with, but not specifically for the reasons you mentioned. I think that the biggest barrier to entry with Zane is that he is the all purpose class and really requires a specific understanding of the BL3 mechanics and gear to really make him shine. I think classifying him as a cryo class is a big undersell because I find that outside of circles of slaughter you very rarely need to have your shield up all the time (because as you mentioned you can't freeze everything). Personally I think Zane is a difficult character to understand because he has alot of trap potential.....meaning players can easily be trapped into one style of play if you are not using his skills to make specific builds. In this regard, I would say the toughest thing to understand about Zane is that he truly is gear dependent. How you gear your Zane will largely determine how effective and how good the character is. This is a Stark contrast to the meta that exist within the BL community which seems to rely on getting specific weapons and gear and using that gear across all characters. Zane doesn't play well with this ideology and players often find him underwhelming as they struggle to make gear combos that work really well with other characters work on Zane. To me Zane requires a bit of creativity because he requires that you can connect skills and stats across multiple pieces of gear. For instance, Zane can have constant ammo and grenade regeneration just like Moze if you wanted to go that direction. By speccing Zane to the Double Barrel skill and equipping the legendary shotgun Facepuncher, along with a relic that has the effect "steal ammo on melee", Zane can have infinite ammo. Since you are going that way, you can get Pocket full of grenades (best to not select a second action skill here) and now you've created a Moze copycat. And since you've only used one skill line, you can then go into the green tree for greater survivability with shields or into the blue tree for more damage or hybrid the two. All without picking a second action skill. The point is that so many players have been trapped into the idea that you have to use two action skills because you can they forget that you can play the character multiple ways. This is just an example of how you have to play Zane in order to really get the full potential out of him.

For me Zane is the funniest, his voice lines are marvelous.

Tbh I always played as the Soldier type person so I went with Moze and I don’t regret it.

I can't really say much about this list, I agree with a lot, but seeing Derchlands' Sheriff Amara build laugh at Mayhem 3 I'd say she's more versatile and powerful than FL4K.. But really they all have some legit God-tier builds.

Easy solution for Gearbox to avoid making weak characters: give every character a skill and skilltree that focuses on DPS

Most interesting I think is Zane. I think he has a ton of viable builds, mainly because none are really that overpowered so you can really mix up his skills. Also he has by far the best voice lines and Amara has by far the worst.

Amara can have insane crowd control. and considering most of the game you will be fighting against multiple enemies in groups, she is very good for that.

digit clone + share shield while using Nova Berner, 2 fire novas and a frost nova (if spec'd into it) really fun poping in and out

I’ve done all the characters and I can easily say Amara is the best especially with how powerful her anointments work

Zane mostly because he has Cryo, Kill Skills, and the Clone that i personally like in Borderlands.

Flak was my first character and I like him better than any of the other ones. Moze would probably come in second for me.

I already played through the game as Moze on Xbox. It was great, but when I get the Switch port coming out this month I think I'm gonna play FL4K. He seems really fun and good for solo play.

moze also has desperate measures. if you find a class mod with +2 (ive heard you can get +3) it is sooo much fun. i have a +2 one and i am permanently at +82% damage with a deahless on

Zane felt great for a first character in my opinion. The problem is that late game is harder than other characters. *edit* You find early game to be harder? Interesting. I ques it is pretty rough at times. I found mid and early late game to be the hardest with him but maybe I was just being daft at the time

Zane has the most funny and humorous dialogue out of all the vaulthunters. Moze is soldier-like but a bit vanilla, Flak is always talking about hunting or Death. And Amara just acts cocky all the time

Speaking of Zane's cryo build, I really hope that Gearbox just makes the anointed resistant to cryo damage as opposed to immune to it. Otherwise the cryo build is basically useless in mayhem 3. Especially if the game decides to roflstomp you by giving you the nerf to cryo in the random effects.

Fl4k crit with bangstick and lyuda literally kills everything in seconds and you can just interchange based on mods for mayhem 3 for your other two slots. and the build becomes even better when you have lyuda and bangstick in different elements.. i cant remember the last time i died that wasnt just me not paying attention lol

I started as Zane, was doing well enough (considering that you really wouldn't call me "good" at BL; maybe "not terrible" if you're feeling generous); then I figured I'd try Amara, since I had never played a melee BL character before. It turns out I really enjoy punching enemies so hard they explode. At some point I'll probably play through as a second character with a range-based build...but I can't seem to decide on which one. Maybe Fl4k; they seem like the most straightforward to build as a sniper, which would be the biggest contrast to my "melee panic" approach to Amara. Eventually, though, I know I'll probably get all four to max level.

I would Zane the award for "Most Fleshed Out Character". His voice lines reveal a lot more about him than the other vault hunters.

I started with fl4k and to this day hes still my favorite to play

Amara main here, i found the early game with Amara to be brutal with the only really good survival talents in the first two rows being in the brawl tree with clarity and samsara, but i didn't want to focus on melee and actually wanted to use phasegrasp and the elemental stuff and samsara only procs if you do damage with the action skill itself. It wasn't until i got past around level 35 or so when i could get fist over matter so that i could damage with my phasegrasp and still have samsara and pair it with sustainment that it started working out. Now at max level i'm an indestructible typhoon of elemental fury mixing the survivability of the brawl tree with samsara and guardian angel with the raw melty goodness of the elemental tree's damage. I have a recharger shield that when it breaks it instantly refills to full with a 20 second cooldown, a last stand relic that gives me 5 seconds of invulnerability at 50% of my health with a 40 second cooldown, crazy health regen with sustainment and then if you manage to get past all that and actually down me, then guardian angel procs and i'm right back up again with full shields and half my health and by then some of my other survival cooldowns are done and the whole thing starts over again.

I went with FL4K. He has pets and I think that's neat. Moze is my secondary/co-op character though.

My plans are to start with FL4K, then Moze or Zane. Leaving out Amara so I have more time for the other three.

So im really cheap and i just bought BD3 maybe a month ago when it was 7.99 on steam and i picked FL4K for my first playthrough and i think he's AWESOME. I picked the Skag pet and we've been slaughtering fools. He reminds me of Dogmeat from the Fallout games.

I picked amara don't know why but i just really prefer sirens over other classes I'll probably play flak in my next play through

My favorite character is moze why she regenerates ammo perfect for my sandhawk and if you use railgun with capactive armature plus the skill point specialist bear it melts bosses.

Hey, question about Borderlands Remaster! Can't actually find a definite answer for this question anywhere! Do all guns that have melee accessories actually do their stated damage boost, or is it just the new legendary that does?

Are there any special op or fun builds and item combos? Like DPUH and Grog, deputy Sal, beehawk or rough rider Krieg. I haven't played yet, and maybe it takes more time to discover, but gameplays look like pick up whatever has bigger numbers.

Amara in the endgame is so much fun

Having maxed out all the characters I can safely say the answers to all these questions in the title is Amara.

And FYI the Maggie is made for her in her hands it becomes powerful use FaZe cast

Amara is definitely the easiest VH currently. She has tons of Health bonuses, Splash and Damage Reduction, stackable Elemental effect chance and damage, High gun damage skills, overkill damage, and she can apply 3 Elements (Shock, Fire, Corrosive) to ANY gun she wants. It’s such a broken ability when playing the game that until Moze has Iron Bear extremely buffed, Amara is probably still better for ease of playing.

Fl4k does best against bosses by the time you get to promethea.

Moze, amara, flak, then Zane, and while playing first three, make some mules and keep any Zane related weapons cause ufff, he needs them. And for some reason, good Zane gear seem not to drop often. I think best Zane build is infinite Tediore, so, if you see a good cutpurse, a good face-puncher, and a good Tediore weapon or maxed out baby maker, then Zane can feel equally as powerful as other characters. Cryo Zane I found was underwhelming. Amara is most fun by far to play, especially if you want a change up and go melee, and plenty other options that feel very different, but if you play her first, you may not enjoy playing the other characters in comparison. Or, play Flak, Moze, Amara, Zane. Since Flak can boss kill easiest with least hassle, so you can farm with him easier for the other characters, just 2 cents.

After amara and fl4k, each with a normal and true vault run, amara definitely for a beginner. She's tanky enough to hold her own even on a basic build. Fl4k is powerful but made of glass. I'm sure he has builds for survival but with amara she held her own without a survival build.

I wanna say FL4K is reserved for Solo Players like myself... They rely on npc buddies that can do what Moze can't... Revive like a player can. Plus they act as a helping hand doing more damage... So if you're going for psycho russian co-op then go Moze... But I have a feeling FL4K is better for solo

I would say moze shes great endgame and iron bear is awesome during the normal mode

I found Moze more fun as my first , Amara was boring as all hell in the beginning, shes amazingly entertaining endgame tho 👉(imo)

I think zane is easiest to understand. Lots of kill skills and just flat stat increases. He also gets the most active use of of his skills

I played Zane first but didn't like his skills. Switched to Moze and I'm a happy camper now.

I now have have 6 toons 3 of the are named bank lol to hold what i cant fit...

When I play Moze, my screen is polluted with all kinds of effects and my shield keeps regenerating and it's like that the whole game. Moze is basically a one-handed Salvador. And that's why I hate playing as her.

Fl4k is the most powerful almost always.

IMO Amara is the easiest to play, But then I played Maya so theres a level of familiarity. Though I think the friendliest to a new player is Flak. Having autocrits and a pet to pick you up is about as easy as it can get for a first time Borderlands player.

The funny thing is that he says zane is the worst for early game since his best skills are deeper in his skill trees so youd have a harder time playing as him but out of all the vault hunters, the beginning of the game for me was easiest with zane .3. Moze and fl4k come close for 2nd best and amara...well I have the hardest time with amara...I'd have to say out of all the vault hunters in this game amara is the least appealing to me...and besides for some reason I also go down the most with her

I got it on release and was less than impressed and after I completed the game and done a load of farming I just sold it ive heard the dlc isn't great either ive just bought and played through tinas wonderland and again less than impressed the games have changed but I cant put my finger on what it is

Moze for early game yeah, but Amara is far and away the BEST character at endgame right now. Nobody has shit on her mobbing and bossing.

I've noticed something all of the weakest characters (Zane and Axton) have in common: lack of DPS skills and more support skills

I like shooting things. I like setting things on fire. I like high rates of fire. I like big magazines. I like never running out of ammo. I like Moze. I'm nearly at level 50, might try out the Demo Woman setup or the SoR capstone once I've gotten the legendaires I want and all the SDUs have been bought.

Its not biased you chose moze, i mean the majority of bug and glitches that you can do in BL3 require you have moze

I wonder how many avid players do not actually try out each class.. 🤔 In all 4 games I started by leveling each one to 10+ then picked my favorite for the full playthrough.
