Thanks a ton for taking the time to comment; we've sort of taken a bit of a break from creating videos this summer overall, but we have a BUNCH in the hopper for this fall! :)

Sold. Just purchased. I was struggling with my tether falling and thought it was my shackle. Your video was such a help! I’m looking forward to running this locker. Thank you

Thanks a lot Greg! Great video, and it’s always nice to see other people go into detail on products. I can admit myself that I have a hard time explaining in detail the way you did, fantastic job buddy. Thanks again!

I bought the Ohm the day that Kyle announced it and I love it! I found that trick about using the slack in the amsteel to advance the tether by accident, but it makes it super easy to climb. I use a delta quick link so the Ohm passes really nicely through it for advancing but stays put when you need it to. I also leave the Ohm clipped on when I rappel and pull it off with my rappel rope. Another thing I do is make an extra wrap on the girth hitch, almost like a prusik so it can't move side to side. One big advantage that I see with the flexible material on the new one is that it won't make any noise when you pull it off and it hits the tree. Great stuff as always Greg!

I have a question. Why do I see everyone using the shackle? Why not just put a figure eight knot and run your working end through that? Would that work?
@StaggsintheWild
@StaggsintheWild Күн бұрын
@@theeverlyboys8725 I assume you’re referring to the quick link… it’s because when you come to a limb, you don’t want to have to fish 40’ of rope through and then feed it back down after you pass over it. I actually have a demo climb on this channel showing why in a video called “Can You Really Hit Sub-10 Pounds As A Mobile Hunter?”

The old style works really well to lock the tether for using a bow holder from genesis3d printing. I run a bow holder on one side and a quiver holder on the other. They also work well for handles to work the rope up the tree without putting your hand between the rope and the tree.

I use a Celtic knot which stays on the rope.

So I’m being kinda forced into the one stick game. I ordered Latitude SS Sticks 7 months ago a at this point I have no faith they will be at my house before I go on my bear hunt 3 1/2 weeks from now so wingman conversion here I come. I was gonna do it anyways but this is speeding me up. Luv your videos they are always full of info!!! So I’m using sterling oplux will that fender washer work on that? Also madrocks and Gri gri’s won’t work for 8mm but I came across what’s called a Sterling F4 made for fire rescue but it can be used for ascending and descending and was wondering if you’ve seen these used at all?

I can't remember but check in my "What's The Best Tether Locker?" video and I think 3/16 ID rubber fender washer will work on the 8mm ropes.. Yes, I've had a buddy extensively put the F4 through its paces and he came away saying he prefers the Madrock. If you've already got the Oplux you could also use a munter hitch or a figure 8 for rappelling (I show how on "One-sticking: The Details"... otherwise, I'd highly suggest Canyon Elite and a Safeguard; it just makes climbing and rappelling SO pleasurable! :)

@@StaggsintheWild Thx for the info!!!! Ya I already have 38ft of sterling oplux so I was looking for a way to use it. I think right now I’m gonna use a non jamming compact JRB hitch and repel out with a Munter. I do have a lot of the stuff to one stick already and trying to see if I can use it. Have the carabiners for that setup and all I had to do was buy a repel ring so will see how it goes. Gonna either rig a 2nd short bridge or use my linemen’s belt as one since it has two carabiners on it already. Just waiting on the cam cleat from EWO right now.
